On Tuesday, April 21st, Paul Atkins was sworn in as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). On Thursday, April 24th, the SEC will hold a closure meeting.
Despite the March 19 announcement of Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s lawsuit ending, the binding legal resolution has yet to be reached.
In the meantime, XRP has experienced negative price behavior. Token prices fell 17.64% from the post-announced high, from $2.55 to $2.10, bringing annual (YTD) profit to 0.83%.
Tokens found a strong support zone for $2 without a bullish catalyst, but it seems unlikely that there would be a breakout above the critical level of $2.20 resistance level. Let’s look into the possibility of such catalysts occurring after a committee meeting.
Ripplev. SEC cases can be resolved more quickly at the helm of Atkins, but there is a warning
Unfortunately for the XRP Bulls, this week is Ripplev. There is a small chance that a Sec case will reach a critical end. For one, there is no guarantee that the meeting in question will broach XRP topics at all. It can center on the finer details of Atkins’ transition to leadership.
Additionally, James Farrell, a crypto attorney who previously worked on the committee, outlined a possible timeline for case resolution in the April 16th X-thread. For brevity, we will not go into detail here, but the timeline is the best case scenario for October 2025, and assumes a resolution in the worst case scenario for January 2027.
1/20 What’s next for Ripple/Sec Saga (TLDR; you’re probably measuring this in months rather than days).

Additionally, the lawyer also dismisses crypto attorney Fred Rispoli’s claim that Atkins’ appointment could speed up the process, citing the fact that the committee approved several terminations under previous leadership, arguing that the delays are likely not yet ready to draft new regulations.
What is behind by the SEC because of the lack of Atkins? The committee approved multiple fires, and even Ripple remained in a short hand. So what’s not being done could be due to factors other than the SEC waiting for him (there is no preparation yet to draft the proposed REGS BC and BC would like to gather more).

That being said, Ripplev. There are other factors that can raise the price of XRP outside of the SEC case. Famous chart expert Ali Martinez is hoping for a big price move for the bollinger band squeeze. As the cryptocurrency market appears to be in a bullish stage, it is likely that the price movement will be an upside-down move, seeing how $60 billion inflows have been seen in parallel with the recent stock market crash.
