Tesla is now the proud owner of 52 Tesla-themed phishing domains created by Russian crypto fraudsters after successful success with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
As reported by the Domain Name Wire, Wiiliam A. Van Caenegem, a Wipo panelist, transferred ownership of the domain from Russian National Ekaterina Tkachenko to Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company on May 27th.
The domain name was similar to that of Tesla, but includes keywords such as “Bitcoin”, “coin”, “bonus”, “play cards”, and “masks”.

The landing page includes Elon Musk and We have promised to double the investor’s money If you send a small amount of cipher to the specified address.
Caenegem concluded that Tkachenko had acted “maliciously” using the trademark name and ordered a domain transfer.
By the time the complaint was filed, the antivirus software had blocked access to almost all sites.

Like Tkachenko, these domain names are intentionally similar, allowing cybercriminals to quickly exchange other domain names after legal providers have defeated other providers.
