Samsung’s website is flipping out this Black Friday. I can’t think of a better way to describe it. We’ll see one price on its 2025 watches and foldables, refresh the page, and see an even better price. Right now, with no trade-in necessary, you can get the Galaxy Watch 8 for $199 ($150 off) on Samsung.com for Black Friday, with the same $150-off deal for the 44mm model ($229) or LTE upgrades ($249 or $279).
Tech companies usually charge a consistent price across their own sites and retailer sites, but the Galaxy Watch 8 is $249 ($100 off) on Amazon and Best Buy. I assumed Samsung would have a better trade-in deal for your old watch, but you don’t even need to send Samsung anything to get “$150 instant credit.”
If you have a recent Galaxy Watch, you can cut the price as low as $99 with a trade-in; send Samsung your Watch 7 ($100 extra off) or Watch 6 ($75 extra) to cut the price absurdly low for a smartwatch that’s only four months old! But as it is, the current $150 “instant credit” basically acts like a huge trade-in discount on its own, so you don’t need to make the trip to the post office if you don’t want to.
Your alternative is to buy the Galaxy Watch 7, which is only $129 at Best Buy. That, too, is an all-time low for an excellent Wear OS watch, and if you compare the Galaxy Watch 8 vs. 7, they’re virtually identical for performance, storage, battery life, and other specs.
But I’d recommend buying the Galaxy Watch 8, if you can snag it at that $199 price. Aside from giving you an extra year of support through 2029 and better trade-in value down the line, the display is slightly larger (1.34- vs. 1.3-inch) and brighter (3k vs. 2k nits), and our reviewer insisted that the squircle design will grow on you, even if you’re used to circular smartwatches. Plus, the new, exclusive Samsung Health tricks like Vascular Load and Antioxidant Index are nice perks to have.
