Stuart Alderoti, chief legal officer at Enterprise Blockchain Company Ripple, recently targeted Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren to oppose major stubcoin laws.
Aldeloty claims that Warren’s “crypto war” is “consuming everything” because he opposes a bill that he believes is supposed to protect Stablecoin users.
But Warren is confident that the bill will promote corruption, and he argues that the Senate should not pass it.
“Now, the Senate will light the green light green next week by passing the so-called genius act,” she said.
As reported by U.Today, some pro-cryptic Democrats are now changing the bill’s songs and putting their passage at risk. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer is particularly concerned about Tether.
Warren, a solid opponent of the cryptocurrency industry, threw cold water at the idea of passing stubcoin law last August. The senator, considered one of the leaders of the progressive movement within the Democratic Party, argued that efforts to fold Sablecoins deep into the banking sector with the help of a regulatory framework could indeed amplify risks.
Multiple amendments to the Genius Act proposed by Warren and some other Democrats have not been passed.
Republicans intended to win full Senate votes on the bill prior to anniversary, but it is unclear whether they can secure 60 votes to overcome the filibuster now that some Democrats are rethinking their support under pressure from the party’s anti-cryptic faction.
