Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, said: taken X to social media networks to announce the launch of a new anti-fraud initiative.
The initiative, called “Scamberry Pie,” is a holiday campaign aimed at raising awareness about online fraud.
It aims to encourage honest conversations about fraud within families and communities. By doing so, you will be able to break the “silence” that scammers rely on.
You’ll also be educated on common scam red flags, including fake gifts, impersonation, suspicious links, urgent messages, and fake social media activity.
Our anti-fraud efforts also provide the tools and resources you need to verify suspicious messages, websites, and accounts.
The campaign is supported by Ripple, the Tech Against Scams Coalition (TASC), and partners including Match Group, Cash App, Coinbase, and the National Cryptocurrency Association.
There will also be a focus on taking down thousands of fraudulent websites and working with platforms like YouTube to quickly remove fraudulent content.
“It takes a village.”
Garlinghouse also praised Ripple’s security team for taking down numerous malicious websites and fake live videos.
Ripple has been actively fighting cryptocurrency fraud for years, suing YouTube in 2020 and settling the case the following year.
During cryptocurrency rallies, scammers often ramp up activity such as fake giveaways, impersonation, deepfake videos, and phishing. Furthermore, artificial intelligence (AI) tools make it even more difficult to detect such scams.
