- Nervos Network has become a victim of $3 million worth of crypto hacks
- Hackers hijacked the Force Cross Chain Bridge, stole the funds and deposited them in a crypto mixer
The crypto industry is becoming more popular, adopted and regulated around the world. However, ciphers are hacked on a variety of platforms. The Nervos Network is a recent hacker victim, losing more than $3 million in funds from the cross-chain bridge.
The news came to light when Web3 security company Cyvers posted about it on its official X account. Multiple malicious transactions made at Forcebridge included the following assets:
- 257,800 USDT
- 539.09 ETH
- 898,300 USDCC
- 60,400 Dies
- 0.79 WBTC
Overall, hackers stole about $3 million worth of funds. Cyvers also tracked these funds and discovered that hackers had exchanged them for Ethereum and deposited them into popular Crypto mixer Tornado Cash. Once funds are transferred to a crypto mixer, it is almost impossible to find a wallet address linked to these specific asset transfers.
Nervos Network Contributor Magickbase paused force bridge
A few hours before the Cyvers hack post, Magickbase said it had suspended its activities at the Force Cross Chain Bridge due to unusual activity. Magickbase is a major contributor and infrastructure provider to the Nervos network. It is also one of the key partners of Nervos Network’s flagship cross-chain bridge.
It is noteworthy that Magickbase has announced plans to close Force Bridge from June 1, 2025. The announcement was recently released on May 31st, and hackers used the opportunity to steal funds. Due to low activity and high maintenance costs, Magickbase has set two platforms down, Force Bridge and Godoken.
This is not the first time that a cross-chain bridge has become a victim of a crypto hacker. Ronin’s cross-chain bridge has lost millions of funds multiple times before. In another case, Wormhole lost $323 million in the same year.
The interoperability between cross-chain capabilities and blockchain is still in its early stages. They have vulnerabilities. This is why hackers are keen to take advantage of these platforms.
