Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysia and Bahrain are deepening economic ties and focusing on cryptocurrency, sandbox platforms, tourism, connectivity and manufacturing. Bahrain has also pledged its support for the upcoming ASEAN-GCC summit. Anwar’s visit at the invitation of Bahrain’s Crown Prince aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and benefit both countries’ economies. In early January 2025, Anwar met with the founders of Binance and officials from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to discuss the framework for potential cryptocurrency regulation. The discussions that took place during the Prime Minister’s three-day official visit to Abu Dhabi focused on establishing policies that could recognize the cryptocurrency industry and modernize the Malaysian financial system.
