A political group called Innovate NY has stepped in to support Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent for mayor of New York City.
The organization, which promotes digital technologies like cryptocurrency, has raised close to $100,000 to influence the election.
This group is officially registered as an outside spender with the city’s Campaign Finance Board. Based on recent reports, six individuals contributed a total of $99,500 through two separate companies.

A portion of that money, around $30,000, has been used for campaign materials backing Cuomo and criticizing one of his main opponents, Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani, a Democrat, is currently polling ahead in several surveys.
Innovate NY publicly endorsed Cuomo on October 28. The group said it supports his plans for blockchain technology, digital tokens, stablecoins for public benefit, and artificial intelligence (AI). The group believes Cuomo’s ideas would help develop new tech industries in the city.
In recent weeks, Cuomo has made efforts to connect with voters interested in technology. If elected, he has said he would form an Innovation Council. This council would include advisory groups for cryptocurrency, biotech, and AI.
Meanwhile, Mamdani has focused his campaign on daily concerns, such as the cost of living, affordable housing, and childcare.
