Registered with US, a self-supporting wallet company specializing in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Exodus Movement (EXOD) has announced its Exodus debit card in partnership with BaAnx, a crypto card enabler that runs on MasterCard and Visa.
Through the BaAnx partnership, Exodus users can spend their crypto on daily purchases such as travel, online shopping, and Mastercard anywhere.
Bringing debit card capabilities to self-supporting crypto holders is a rapidly growing subset of the digital asset space, bringing together a variety of popular platforms, including Ethereum Wallet Farm Metamask, Decentralized Finance Farm 1inch, and more recently Sam Altman’s World Network.
The beta test for the virtual exodus card begins with BTC Vegas and starts with two major Stablecoins, USDT and USDC. Users can instantly exchange Bitcoin and other major cryptography within their Exodus wallet. JP Richardson, CEO of Exodus, said a wider deployment to around 6 million Exodus users will occur later this year.
“If you think there are 1.7 billion people with no banks, you can use something like this, so you don’t need a bank account,” Richardson said in an interview.
Simon Jones, BAANX’s Chief Commercial Officer, reiterated this view. “We effectively say that if you have access to a mobile phone, you have access to a variety of basic financial services,” Jones said in an interview. “Historically, wallets have been very focused on the custody element, with some swaps and deals. Now, we’re actually seeing an evolution happening where your wallet is now your virtual account.”
In December 2024, Nebraska-based Exodus was given a green light to the New York Stock Exchange’s brother market, NYSE American list, shortly after Donald Trump’s election victory.
