Aave, a popular distributed finance (DEFI) platform, has recently seen a shocking phishing scam. According to data from Scamsniffer, Aave users reportedly suffered a loss of $343,389 in $Aethweth due to unintended signatures on suspicious phishing signatures. As mentioned by the Web3 anti-scum platform on social media, the incident took place 11 hours ago. As a result, the Defi community is once again witnessing a demand for more prudence and vigilance.

Scammers trick users to approve phishing signatures
Scamsniffer’s report revealed that by unconsciously signing a malicious phishing signature, Aave users ultimately lost around $343,389 for $Aethweth. The exploit reportedly carried out the attack via an unauthorized signature request and carried out the attack to allow the victim to commit fraudulent transactions. This allowed the attacker to take the above amount from the victim’s wallet. “0x8f4…b64d7”.
The incident took into account two transactions, including $aethweth. These two notable amounts were 65.83 $aethweth (nearly $274,959.45) and 16.45 $aethweth ($68,739.86). Each fund was shifted from the victim’s wallet, and corresponded to the above-mentioned total.
Web3 users advised to move carefully to avoid phishing scams
According to Scamsniffer, the incident shows user vigilance requirements while signing an approval. In this regard, they are advised to double-check each signature prompt and avoid any decisions they are in a hurry when making the transfer. Overall, with the ongoing adoption of Web3, the threat of fraud has also evolved, increasing the need for special attention.
