A California federal court is close to dismissing criminal charges against Bitcoin advocate Roger Ver, known to many as “Bitcoin Jesus.”
The U.S. government filed a motion Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California asking Judge Michael Fitzgerald to dismiss the charges against Barr without prejudice.
The government announced that it had reached an agreement with Mr. Ver to pay the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) $49.9 million plus “all taxes, penalties, and interest” on his tax liability for his Bitcoin (BTC) holdings.

The proposed dismissal came after the U.S. government filed a deferred prosecution agreement in September setting out conditions for dismissing Barr’s case. Ver acknowledged that he was required to file returns and pay taxes on certain crypto assets before he renounced his U.S. citizenship in 2014.
This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available.
