President Donald Trump plans to nominate Brian Quintz, the policy director for A16z Crypto, to lead the Bloomberg Act Commodity Futures Trading Commission It has been reported Quoting White House documents reviewed by Bloomberg News on Tuesday.
Quintenz previously served as a Republican commissioner for the CFTC in both the Obama and Trump administrations, overseeing the implementation of the first fully regulated Bitcoin and Ethereum futures contracts. The CFTC will serve as the leading US regulator for the approximately $400 trillion swap market and other derivatives.
In his current role, Quintenz advises A16z on crypto policy and investment. According to a December report from Bloomberg, he We worked with the Trump Transition Team Crypto policies are important ahead of Trump’s inauguration, working with David Sacks, Trump’s designated AI and Crypto Czar. His candidacy has been supported by A16Z co-founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz.
White House documents also revealed plans for Trump to nominate Jonathan Gould as the director of currency and Jonathan McCernan as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
