Crypto Exchange Bybit says that everyone suspected of hacking one cold wallet would have affected the theft of nearly $1.4 billion in Ethereum.
During the LiveStream X platform, Shunyet Jan, head of Derivatives and Institutions at Bybit, accurately states, “Now, to be honest, everyone is being affected.”

Given that Bybit’s ETH cold wallet has only been damaged, it is not clear that everyone is affected by the incident. It is worth noting, however, that the exchange had to pause the drawer in light of the situation.
Meanwhile, Bybit’s Ben Zhou also said in a live stream that the percentage of Ethereum stolen in the attack accounts for 70% of the exchange’s total ETH holdings. This means that the majority of ETH holders will be directly affected.
“I believe it was about 70% (eth aum),”
Ben Zhou replied.
Bibit continues to maintain other assets, including hot and cold wallets, as safe. Yang said the retail withdrawals were also progressing normally and the queues were lacking. He added that some of the exchange partners are expanding their help to cover the withdrawal.
Jan and Zhou have repeated that Bibit will not buy ETH from the open market to cover user losses.
