Have you ever wondered what it’s like to stick your foot inside a little hole at the bottom of the glass case that holds a foot-doctor themed animatronic, and then have it bend down and do something mysterious to the surface of your foot? It’s a thought we all have sometimes, in the wee hours of the morning, but few of us have dared to actually seek out this experience.
In this video, watch a brave soul consult the Podiatrist at Novelty Automation, created by Tim Hunkin. The man walks up to the animatronic, which features a creepy papier-mache lady in a doctor’s coat with a mischievous look on her face. The man removes his shoe, places his foot in the foot hole, and allows the mechanical foot doctor to do her thing. We don’t actually see what she does, and I don’t think he has any clue either, but he explains that it felt like a waterfall of marbles was touching his feet.
I love everything about this bizarre interaction that happens between the animatronic and anyone who dares to try it out. My favorite thing about it is the fact that there’s no easy way to know what happens to your foot (or why it’s happening), and you’ll walk away even more confused than you were before you put the coin into the machine. This is one of the funniest animatronics I’ve seen, and I am eager (yet slightly terrified) to go try it out myself now.
