After LP providers suffered $223 million exploitation, SUI-based Liquid Staking Protocol Haedal temporarily halted Haevault functionality, which relies on the Cetus liquidity pool.
In a recent post, Staking Protocol issued an official statement in response to recent exploits. Because the Haevault feature of the protocol relies on the underlying Cetus liquidity pool, Haedal has decided to temporarily disable the feature to prevent further incidents associated with the hack.
“User safety remains a top priority. Once all risks are resolved and the environment is safe, Haevault will resume,” Haedal wrote in the post.
The Liquid Staking protocol claimed that the functionality and funding of all other chains, with the exception of Haevault, was “completely secure.” Haedal Protocol also said the team is currently in communication with Cetus and other SUI (SUI) ecosystem projects and is ready to provide full support to support Cetus in the aftermath of exploitation.
As a major LP provider for SUI, the ecosystem suffered a lot from Cetus exploits. Over the course of 24 hours, tokens like Axol, Hippo, and Squirt lost almost all of their value after the attackers drained Cetus’ liquidity pool.

The SUI token itself has dropped by more than 4.7%, sliding from its daily high to $3.85. The $5.35 incident occurred in early January 2025, about 28% below the latest all-time high.
More recently, Cetus Protocol has declared it is offering a $6 million bounty to get the attacker to hand over the stolen funds. Hackers are asked to return 20,920 ETH ($55.7 million) and all frozen assets in SUI. In exchange, they can maintain an ethereum of about 2,324 from legal action and immunity.
However, the Cetus team said the offer is time sensitive and that the transaction will be suspended if hackers off ramp stolen funds through a mixer or put in stolen funds.
