The broad crypto market faces consistent cases of malicious operations as bad operators continue to raid the space. A new fraudulent scheme targeting Shib owners was identified by the Shiba INU team in a recent X post.
On August 14, the team revealed that they had discovered a scammer who was pretending to be a major crypto project, including Shiba Inu, in order to steal funds from holders.
According to the post, scammers are misusing expiring inconsistent invitation links to deceive crypto users and invite links to maliciously strip them of their funds.
The new scam scheme targets siv holders
The SHIB community appears to be one of the hackers’ main targets, but we found that hackers are inviting links to regain the expiration discrepancy and create a fake server that is very similar to Kemaru’s official channel.
The hacker then sends a fake link to the holder of the mimicked crypto project, disguised as an actual account as a trap to access the wallet.
Users who do not suspect that they will click on the link should verify their account by connecting their wallets under the pretense that offers rewards and airdrops.
The holder’s decision to click on the malicious link to connect the wallet is that by connecting the wallet holding the Shivstash, you can easily access the bad actors in these wallets, and there is room to wipe away the funds contained in the connected wallet.
Cybercrime has long existed in a wide range of crypto spaces, but this appears to be a new fraud tactic. That’s because a considerable number of victims have managed to reap a quality amount of crypto funds, screaming on social media that their wallets will be wiped out in minutes.
To reduce these unfortunate incidents, the SHIB team has issued an important warning against unofficial links not sourced from the official website.
The team also warns community members to always double-check and confirm the invitation through a constantly confirmed social channel before attempting to connect their wallets.
Additionally, in its post, Shibarium Trustwatch strictly warned users not to rush to wallet connections or DAPP authentication from incompatible links, and instead urged other social media platforms to pay more attention to them.
In particular, such consistent updates and the strict urgency of vigilance issued to members of the SHIB community play an important role in fostering the growth of Shibarium Ecosystem, as it continues to strengthen trust among investors.
