According to Business Insider, Sam Bankman-Fried, founder and former CEO of The Defunct Crypto Exchange FTX, could be released from prison in December 2044.
Bank fried, convicted of seven fraud and conspiracy in 2023, was sentenced to 25 years in March 2024 for adjusting a $11 billion fraud.
Prosecutors have poured client funds from FTX into Alameda Research, his crypto hedge fund, supporting investments, making political contributions, enriching themselves and enriching their close peers.
After his sentence, the bank was transferred to a low-security federal prison in San Pedro, California, following a stint at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
While there, he lives in the same unit as Sean “Diddy” Comb and gave a surprise interview with Tucker Carlson.
His sentence was reduced due to accumulating “good time to act,” according to the Federal Prisons Bureau. The time spent behind the bar before the verdict is also taken into consideration.
Caroline Ellison, former CEO of Alameda and a leading witness in the government case, has been sentenced to two years in prison, but is now projected to be released in May 2026 after similar cuts.
