Ripple CTO issues important Instagram warnings for XRP holders: Here’s why

Ripple CTO David Schwartz has issued new warnings to XRP and the wider crypto community for XRP, warning against social media spoofing fraud.

The alert came after X users claimed that Schwartz had a verified Instagram account and prompted a response from Ripple CTO. Schwartz said, “I don’t post on Instagram. The profile you see there that claims to be me is a scam.”

This warning joins the crypto space’s increasing list of fraud alerts. There, they often tempt unsuspecting users with fake giveaways, phishing links, or fraudulent investment schemes.

Schwartz’s statement highlights Ripple’s continued commitment to user safety and transparency, particularly as XRP is one of the most aggressively traded and widely tracked cryptocurrencies.

Issuing Ripple warnings

Ripple recently issued a warning along similar lines, observing the rise in YouTube’s XRP scams, saying that the scammers stole their accounts and then refreshed the page by impersonating Ripple’s official account. Cryptocurrency giveaway fraud often exploits prominent social media accounts and grants crypto fraudsters funding via digital wallets through digital wallets. Crypto fraud can take many forms, including exit scams, crypto giveaway promises, fake job offers, counterfeit scam tactics via email and text messages, ragpull scams targeting investors, and even online dating scams.

In an Insights post, Ripple revealed that its authentic social media handles of Ripple’s corporate account and some executives, including Ripple CTO David Schwartz, will protect the crypto community from fraud.

Ripple CTO’s X account is the only list, indicating that his social media presence is only on X (formerly Twitter).
