Recent wallet issues, including 10,000 attempted XRP transactions, have sparked controversy in the XRP community, igniting confusion and speculation. A failed transaction flagged in XRPL as a payment for “Xaman Service Fee” appeared during a routine swap operation. The transaction was not passed due to insufficient funds, but it sparked a ton of concern.
Flagged transactions were displayed during a routine swap operation. The operation reportedly claimed that the user charged what appeared to be a 10,000 XRP service charge.
The transaction indicated that there was a failure with a status labeled “unfunded_payment.” This means that the submission account did not have enough balance (except for spare requirements) to complete the transfer. Despite this failure, the vast amount of size that was attempted caused an immediate alarm.
There is no mystery here. This is a strange edge case where the code is not designed to handle. It has been fixed.

Amid growing concern, Ripple’s CTO David Schwartz is also an architect of XRP Ledger, and it has become clear. He explained that the issue is not intentional or malicious, but not a rare edge case that the system has not been configured to handle. He said the glitch is currently fixed and the funds have not been lost as the transaction was not successful.
Some users have expressed concern about the software’s potential misconduct or operation, and are viewed as reflecting deeper reliability issues with Xaman wallets. One user raised the alarm suggesting that this was a coordinated attempt to target specific companies that damage reputation or speak up in criticism of XRPL’s direction.
Some people go a step further and suggest that the problem could be more than just a bug. Perhaps it’s even a targeted move towards developers and projects in the XRP ecosystem. The speculation quickly spread, causing mistrust and frustration.
