In the case of Do Hyeongkwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs and Terra (Luna), the defense team requested a two-week postponement deadline for the pretrial filing date on July 1, 2025. The prosecutor’s office agrees to the request.
The lawyer said Kwon is ready, but the extension would be beneficial due to a “productive discussion” between the parties. It was also reported that the requested postponement would not affect any other court date. Therefore, the start date of the hearing is still scheduled for February 17th, 2026.
The parties have also reached an agreement regarding the date of filing the expert witness statement. Therefore, the defense will file a statement on December 1, 2025, one month after the government’s statement on October 31, 2025.
At last week’s hearing, Judge Paul Engelmeyer suggested that newly passed genius acts could affect the course of the case. The Genius (Guidelines and Establishment of National Innovation for US Stubcoins) Act, which passed the US Senate on June 17, aims to regulate term coins for payment purposes.
The bill has not yet been voted in the House and is awaiting the signing of President Donald Trump, but if passed, could change the legal basis for the charges against Kwon regarding Terraus (UST) and Luna Token.
