Yichao “Peak” Ji, co-founder of AI (AI) startup Manus, has publicly rejected the link between the project and the Crypto initiative.
His explanation follows an unexpected suspension of the project’s official X account soon after its release.
Manus criticizes crypto links
In a statement posted to X, JI suggested that third-party mentions to cryptocurrency scams could have caused a halt. He firmly stated that Manus had nothing to do with such activities.
“Manus has never been involved in cryptocurrency projects, token issuance or blockchain initiatives,” the post read.
JI further warned that cryptocurrency-related projects claiming to partner with the project are fraudulent. He emphasized that the company is taking legal action against impersonators and urged users to report suspicious accounts to prevent misinformation. It’s worth noting that X has restored its official Manus account before restoring it.
Ji’s statement tried to clear up the misconception, but Crypto Market drew another picture. Multiple tokens using the name “Manus” have emerged in distributed exchanges (DEX). Some tokens were released on the same day as the project, while others only last a day or a few hours before.

However, despite the initial hype, most of these tokens crashed shortly after release, causing concern about potential scams.
“Manus AI did nothing except suddenly its popularity has become so popular. Its name is being misused by cryptocurrency projects with high risk of fraud,” the user claimed.
The emergence of these tokens highlights ongoing issues in encrypted areas. There, opportunistic developers launch projects in an attempt to mislead investors.
It is essential to understand what Manus actually is in the debate. Manus is designed as a next-generation AI agent developed by AI Firm Monica.
“We see it as the next paradigm of human machine collaboration and as a possible glimpse of AGI,” Ji said.
Manus performs tasks autonomously, eliminating the need for step-by-step human instructions. Many people praise the project for its advanced features.
“Chinese Manus AI has just fallen, and it will completely change the AI agent game,” writes Min Choi, an AI educator, in X.
It can handle a variety of tasks, from personalized travel planning and data analysis to creating educational content and increasing productivity. In particular, AI agents outperform OpenaI deep search at all three levels of the GAIA benchmark. Currently, Manus remains in the early preview phase, with invitations available only through the official website.
