Our global headquarters is now officially acknowledged in Cheyenne, Wyoming, our commitment to US-based crypto innovation. Wyoming, famously known as a pioneer in crypto regulations, lives in many advanced policymakers and entrepreneurs who recognize the incredible potential of technology.
Wyoming’s commitment to innovation is visible and broad. The state has enacted more than 30 crypto-specific laws, ranging from formal recognition of digital assets as property to the establishment of dedicated fintech sandboxes, to protection against forced disclosure of private keys.
This trail-burning approach to crypto regulations quickly attracted our attention and placed the equality state on the map as a crypto hub.
These innovative laws also affected early investments in Wyoming’s growing digital assets ecosystem. In 2021, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, the University of Wyoming was awarded a $300,000 grant to support an education initiative to prepare students for the fast-growing crypto economy.

It also sponsored UW’s Wyoming Blockchain Stampede and Hackathon, transforming the campus into a hotbed of real-world crypto experiments. These investments in the state’s crypto ecosystems have further deepened our presence in Wyoming.
Last year, built on that foundation, we co-hosted the first ever Wyoming Blockchain Symposium at Jackson Hole. The event brought together 250 leading builders, investors and policymakers to catalyze advanced crypto regulations, promote institutional understanding of asset classes and create a more decentralized financial system.
The procrypt environment in Wyoming has become a unique and appropriate backdrop for these important conversations.
Well, almost four years after my initial interest in Wyoming, it’s time to deepen my local presence even further by throttling my roots in Cheyenne. This move does not change the globally distributed remote-first workforce. It recognizes the custody policymakers and constructive regulations that have made us feel like we are in our homeland.
From the tireless advocacy of Senator Cynthia Ramis on behalf of the Bitcoin and the crypto industry to many state laws that promote responsible innovation, Wyoming has proven that there is no suitable state for Kraken’s headquarters.
“Wyoming has been at the forefront of digital asset policy for nearly a decade, creating the perfect environment for digital asset companies to thrive,” Lummis said. “Kraken’s decision to move to equality is a testament to Wyoming’s advanced approach and strengthens its position as Wyoming’s top crypto hub.”
Stay tuned as we are now continuing to innovate, evolve and redefine the future of innovation, evolution and finance from Cheyenne, Wyoming.
