Lightning Labs is working on a project called Taproot Assets. This is a coloured coin protocol that is immersed in UTXOS with additional meaning tracked through client-side verification. The asset does not need to be published, but is committed in the leaf of the script tree of P2TR output, where its existence and overall history is tracked out of band by people interested in the asset.
LNDs can create lightning network channels sected on such assets. If a channel participant on an asset channel has opened more other Bitcoin removal channels and offers to trade assets with Bitcoin, the other channel participant has been sent as a payment caused by Bitcoin. You can receive payments provided with the assets. In the case of Lightning Network, or vice versa, Bitcoin will make a religious lightning payment to other Lightning network users by paying for assets.
