May 9th First Bitfinex to list native tokens in Shm

Oad Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands – May 9, 2025 – Bitfinex, a premier digital asset trading platform, has announced that it is one of the first exchanges to list Shm, the native token of Shardeum, a highly planned EVM-based network designed for optimal scalability.
Founded in 2022, Shardeum is a Layer-1 blockchain built to achieve maximum security and stability without compromising decentralization. Leveraging a specialist technology known as Dynamic State Shard, Shardeum is designed to promote lower gas prices and higher transactions per second, even as users on the network increase. Shardeum reported that it overturned 81 million transactions on the testnet with a total validator of 171,000, and described it as “the most physically executed nodes recorded in a layer 1 testnet.”
Shardeum’s native token, SHM offers holders a variety of uses, including staking, participation in governance, distribution of rewards, compensation for gas fees, and reducing transaction fees through combustion.
“The Shardeum design, which maintains low gas prices and high speeds while protecting decentralized nature, is consistent with our value. We are pleased to be one of the first to list the native tokens of this highly anticipated network.” said Anoush Bhasin, Bitfinex’s listing director.
SHM deposits are expected to open on May 12, 2025 at 10:00am UTC, subject to network conditions. The transaction is scheduled to begin at UTC around 10am on May 13th, subject to liquidity requirements being met. SHM will be traded against US Dollars (SHM/USD) and Tether Tokens (SHM/USDT).
