Scammed ads spoofing TradingView promotions are circulating on Facebook, and invite users to promise free premium subscriptions and cryptocurrency bonuses.
The company announced today (Wednesday) that the campaign is fraudulent and in many cases leads to malware that breach personal data.
How fraud works
According to TradingView, fraudulent ads mimic their design and branding and look real. Common tactics include offering free annual subscriptions, claiming partnerships with well-known companies such as Binance, and committing to Free USDT.
Normally, when you click on an ad, users will redirect users to a site that resembles TradingView’s official platform. From there, visitors will be asked to download the “Special” software. This warns that the company is actually malicious and is built to steal sensitive information.
The company emphasized that it is not connected to these ads and that TradingView.com and its verified channels are the only reliable source of its products and offers.
TradingView advises users to avoid offers that appear to be too good. The company warns against downloading “cracked” or “developer” versions of the platform. These are illegal and unsafe.
It also encourages users to carefully check their web addresses and avoids deceptive domains such as Trading-View.com and TradingView-premium.net. Official desktop and mobile applications are only available from the TradingView website and the approved app store.
Repeated issues
For those who interact with suspicious ads, TradingView recommends that you immediately change your account password, enable two-factor authentication, scan malware devices, review account activity, and report cases to your support team.
This is not the first time the platform has faced a spoofing scam. In April, TradingView issued a similar warning about a fake YouTube channel that pretended to be a company used to distribute malware targeting cryptocurrency and personal data.
