President Donald Trump recently praised Federal Reserve Governor Chris Waller, who is being considered for the Fed chair position.
Speaking at a press conference, President Trump noted Waller’s long experience and prior collaboration with the administration.
He said, “I think he’s great. I mean, he’s been a man who’s been there a long time. Somebody that I was very involved with and sense of his career, and he’s a fantastic man”.

Waller has drawn attention for his open attitude toward digital currencies. At the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in August 2025, he said there is “nothing to be afraid of” about cryptocurrency payments operating outside the traditional banking system.
According to Polymarket, an online prediction platform, Waller currently has a 14% chance of being selected for the top Fed role.
The frontrunner is White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett, with 53% odds, followed by former Fed governor Kevin Warsh at 28%. Fed governor Michelle Bowman trails with 2%.
President Trump said he has narrowed the shortlist to three or four people. When asked specifically about Bowman, the president avoided confirming whether she was included but still called her a “fantastic person”.
The president indicated that a final decision would come soon. He said the announcement could happen “in the next couple of weeks”, though he did not specify an exact date.
Recently, Hassett’s odds of becoming the next chair of the US Federal Reserve rose after President Trump made remarks that seemed to point in his direction. What did the president say? Read the full story.
