A senior official from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) reportedly arrived at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) at noon Thursday to begin an investigation into the tax agency’s operations.
According to Reuters ExclusiveAccording to sources familiar with the visit, Gavin Krigger, a top staff member who works with Elon Musk on the Federal Efficiency Initiative, met with senior IRS executives at Washington headquarters.
Kliger’s arrival comes days after the polls for Musk’s social media platform X. X saw more than 92% support from Doge to scrutinise the IRS.

The visit preceded Trump’s oval office signing ceremony for his new mutual tariff agenda. First time a Doge Official It appears in tax collection agencies and continues its broad government focus on identifying fraudulent spending.
IRS under the microscope of musk
Musk, where Trump is responsible for major cost-cutting measures across federal agencies, has long been around target IRS. As early as last November, Tesla’s CEO began asking followers if they needed to audit tax agencies.

Senior IRS executives were directed on Thursday to identify all “required” contracts for the termination, according to an email seen by Reuters. The directive issued by the General Services Administration (GSA) requires a review of consulting agreements, particularly those classified as reports, research, coaching, or other non-critical material.

Douglas O’Donnell, a longtime civil servant, is currently serving as a representative committee member for the agency.

Musk’s personal involvement in government operations continues to attack the nerves of Democratic policymakers.
