As I was setting up my new MK4, I noticed that there was a menu option under Root → Advanced called “Run Self-Test.” If you select this, the device will first ask “Are you all on?” Then “All off?” is displayed, but this seems to be a screen test. Then I see an animation of my NFC device, but I don’t know what to do next.
Has anyone actually used this self-test? How does the device determine whether the test passes or fails?
There are many YouTube videos about setting up the MK4, but not one mentions this feature. Seems odd for a device aimed at security-conscious users.
The only explanation I found from Coinkite is: “Run Self-Test: Initiates factory self-test, clearing settings but not seeds. Requires MicroSD card.”
