Coinbase converts account limit tides with self-service and speed
Crypto Exchange Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN) announced on August 14th that it is implementing a variety of user experiences and security upgrades focused on minimizing the disruption caused by account restrictions. Outlined in the Engineering Blog’s detailed roadmap, Q3 and Q4 2025 extensions include customizable security options such as automated In-APP Extended Due Diligence (EDD), AI-driven Compliance Automation, voice support using activity logs, and consensus 2FA and time delays. These features are intended to streamline the resolution process while ensuring regulatory integrity and user trust.

So far, we have reduced low-quality account limits by over 90%, improved self-service options within the app, enhanced customer support, and significantly improved the fraud model that causes such cases.

The company added: “We are constantly looking for ways to improve the user experience, streamline the process and reduce customer friction.” Coinbase’s low-quality account restrictions are a security measure that limits account functionality. These automatic restrictions, caused by suspicious activities such as abnormal logins, payment failures, and identity verification issues, protect users and the platform from fraud and illegal activities.
An important part of this initiative is automating enhanced due diligence. As Coinbase explained:
The era of long and complicated due diligence processes where customers can feel stuck while onboarding or flagging for additional checks is over.
“Coinbase is moving towards automated, in-app enhanced due diligence (EDD), making this experience faster, smoother and more accurate,” the crypto exchange emphasized. For complex cases that require direct assistance, Coinbase is also introducing new communication tools. “If automated remedies are not sufficient, customers can now opt for direct voice call support.
These combined improvements reflect a broader push from Coinbase, providing users with greater control, faster service and reducing false positives without compromising compliance. While centralized platforms face criticism of strict account control, Coinbase’s roadmap shows a shift towards flexibility and transparency that helps to harmonize security requirements with a smoother cryptographic experience.
