Coinbase revealed that one of its employees may have illegally accessed various user records and may have broken internal corporate policies in the process, according to a screenshot shared by block co-founder Mike Dudas.
The email warned that the scammers claim it was from the exchange, and said that Coinbase would never ask you to transfer or manipulate your funds.
However, it also informed Dudas that one of its employees may have access to his data. “We have detected activities that suggest that Coinbase employees may have reviewed a small number of Coinbase customer account records in a way that does not match their internal policies.”

In response to Dudas sharing the email, Crypto Trader’s Jordan Fish (aka Cobie) claimed that Krypto Exchange Kraken was also “a recent hit.” He said from a new scheme from the attacker (retrieved employees of the CS agent and EXFIL data).
There have been many crypto phishing scams recently, and Crypto Sleuth Zachxbt claimed that more than $46 million in Coinbase user funds last month could have been lost to phishing scams.
In response, a Coinbase representative told Cointelgraf that he “recognised and is investigating Zachxtb’s claims.”
Protos will contact Coinbase for comment and will update this article if it responds.
