Today, Breez launches Misty Breez, the latest application built using the Breez SDK. The Breez SDK was originally developed to simplify the process of integrating Lightning network support into a variety of consumer applications. Dozens of existing projects and companies are currently using SDKs to lighten up.
The SDK supports two lightning integration methods. Native allows App developers to integrate Lightning wallets or features using the Greenlight service provided by BlockStream, allowing them to host cloud-based Lightning nodes for users while retaining their private keys only in their controls. Both models supported by the SDK fully support the various features available in the Lightning network without the need to build support from START.
Misty Breez is built on top of nodeless SDK tools. This means that users provide the ability to fully control their funds as their coins are independent on the liquid sidechain, but also require trust trade-offs involved in using liquid networks (i.e., something that many federal signatories can be sincere and reliable).
The wallet uses DNS for Volt 11 and Volt 12 invoices, lnurl-pay, lightning address, on-chain BTC address, and even Matt Corrallo’s BIP 353 to get payment details for another user’s wallet. It also supports offline payments based on mobile notifications on the phone’s operating system.
The goal of the Breez SDK is to provide developers with tools to build seamless, use case-specific user experiences with the least effort possible. In it, Misty Breez aims to set up a simplified user experience benchmark that other developers can use as references for lightning integration into their own applications, or that other developers can use to build on top of Misty Breez itself. Feel free to integrate the features you’re trying to build into Misty Breez itself, and rebrand if necessary (100% OpenSource).
The documentation for the Nodeless configuration of the Breez SDK used by Misty Breez is available here. Github for the implementation of Misty Breez is available here. Finally, if you’re a user who wants to play with the application, the Android early access release is available here, and here on iOS.
APK downloads can be directly available here.
