Binance is reportedly engaged in consultations to list USD1, a Stablecoin created by World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance venture backed by investor President Trump’s family.
These discussions are said to have started before the Treasury Department meeting, suggesting a potential conflict of interest.
A spokesman for the Treasury Department confirmed the incident in the journal that a Vinance Conference occurred, which was said to have characterized as “dozens” who hold alongside executives and representatives of the crypto industry.
Contrary to these claims, Binance argues that current monitoring requirements create “inefficient and costly burdens” and represent “fine tweaks” rather than “slack controls.”
The Journal reported that Binance is reportedly seeking a presidential pardon from his former CEO. Zhao denied these allegations.
Last week, DOJ suspended corporate monitoring ships and dissolved the crypto unit that was contributing to the 2023 incident against Binance.
Neither the Justice Department nor the White House issued public statements about suspicious cooperation agreements or potential amnesty considerations.
The White House didn’t return anytime soon. Decrypt’s Request a comment. DOJ declined to comment.
