The anime-themed NFT project Azuki is partnering with the artificial intelligence (AI)-native intellectual property (IP) network, Story, to foster co-creation in the community.
According to an X announcement by the project, Azuki NFT holders will be able to build with and monetize their unique IP alongside the Azuki brand. The collaboration between Story and Azuki will make the NFT project’s IP programmable.
After Azuki completes its programmable IP license, users will be able to create games and custom merch via Story’s ecosystem partners, Verse 8 and ABLO. Verse 8 is an AI-powered gaming platform, while ABLO is a zero-effort merch store for creators.
While Story tracks and manages the IPs, NFT holders will be able to create games on Verse 8 using their unique Azuki IP. They get to choose their gaming character, license the rights, and release into a shared AI-built multiplayer game. Users can also create and print custom, on-demand merch using their preferred IP. They just have to select the products, pick the IPs, design with AI, and have ABLO deliver the finished merch on their doorstep.
As an NFT project that blends anime, fashion, and crypto, Azuki’s latest move could further highlight it as one of the most culturally iconic brands in the Web3 space. Story’s president Andrea Muttoni said Azuki is a “perfect example” of crypto-native IP becoming just as iconic as Web2 IP.
It is worth mentioning that Azuki has taken several steps to blur the boundaries between Web3 and anime. With the aim of bringing more people to the anime realm, the project partnered with the American multimedia firm, Westbrook, in July to develop, produce, and distribute anime globally. The collaboration is also set to bring more people closer to Azuki’s non-fungible IP.
Azuki’s latest move comes as the project plans a cigar club event for ANIME holders in Seoul. ANIME is Azuki’s culture-themed native cryptocurrency. The project launched the token earlier this year to reward community members, allocating 37.5% of the asset’s supply to Azuki NFT holders.
Access to the Azuki Cigar Club, scheduled for September 24, requires holding more than one million ANIME. The event is hosted as part of the ongoing Korean Blockchain Week, scheduled to take place from September 22 to 28.
