Florida’s Volusia County Sheriff’s Office was required to return cryptocurrency and cover legal costs after a seizure that lacked proper legal steps.

The case, reported by Attorney Leslie Sammis of Sammis Law, involved an EU-registered brokerage that had its Kraken

$504.05M

account frozen on March 28.

Authorities from Wisconsin and Florida had traced a $20,000 fraud to the firm’s wallet. Although the company worked with both states during the investigation, its crypto, worth over $450,000 at the time, was locked without warning.

On April 9, Volusia County obtained a sealed warrant ordering Kraken to transfer 1.19 BTC

to a wallet controlled by the state and convert it into US dollars.

Wisconsin also issued a separate order for 0.93 BTC but could not process crypto on its own. Instead, it relied on Florida to sell the Bitcoin and forward a check for $95,030.59.

However, Sammis later found that the Florida warrant had major flaws. It had no case number, was never filed with a court, and did not include supporting documents. Using blockchain analysis tools, she also found no link between the client’s wallet and the fraud in question.

Sammis later convinced Volusia County officials to reverse their actions. The sheriff’s office returned the remaining cryptocurrency, got back the check sent to Wisconsin, and agreed to pay the brokerage’s legal fees.

The scam that triggered the investigation began when fraudsters posed as the “Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System” and sent fake asset seizure notices.

DV8 completes first step in Thai crypto treasury pivot with 99.9% warrant execution https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dv8-completes-first-step-in-thai-crypto-treasury-pivot-with-99-9-warrant-execution/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dv8-completes-first-step-in-thai-crypto-treasury-pivot-with-99-9-warrant-execution/#respond Thu, 17 Jul 2025 17:56:48 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dv8-completes-first-step-in-thai-crypto-treasury-pivot-with-99-9-warrant-execution/

DV8 has completed its first capital raise since undergoing a strategic shift toward becoming Southeast Asia’s first crypto treasury company, securing approximately THB 241 million (roughly $7.4 million), according to a filing released July 16.

The funding round closed with a 99.9% warrant exercise rate, marking a critical vote of confidence from existing shareholders in the firm’s long-term Bitcoin-native model.

The raise resulted in 301,491,057 new shares issued from the exercise of DV8-W2 warrants, at an exercise price of 0.80 baht per share. The remaining unexercised warrant total stood at just 345,930 units. DV8 reported a 38% growth in its cash treasury and a 13% increase in yield per share following the round.

Who is DV8?

DV8’s board has previously signaled its intention to replicate Strategy-style corporate finance strategies centered around Bitcoin accumulation and digital asset-backed value creation. The firm’s treasury model is aligned with the broader pivot led by a regional consortium of crypto-focused investors, including Metaplanet, Sora Ventures, Kliff Capital, and others, which recently acquired the Thai-listed electronics and retail company through a voluntary tender offer.

Metaplanet, the Tokyo-based public firm that emerged as one of the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holders following its own treasury conversion, has become a guiding reference point for DV8’s transition. The Japanese company’s stock rose by over 11,000% across its treasury pivot, reinforcing the appeal of this strategy among firms exploring alternative financial models in Asia.

DV8’s transformation is also driven by a leadership overhaul led by Thai businessman Chatchaval Jiaravanon, known internationally for acquiring Fortune Magazine. His appointment as chairman was part of a broader board reshuffle aimed at repositioning DV8 as a crypto-financial infrastructure firm targeting Southeast Asian markets.

Recent moves by the consortium, such as the acquisition of Seoul-based SGA Co. to support new digital asset ventures, signal coordinated efforts to institutionalize crypto treasury adoption across the region. The investors have highlighted their interest in expanding into the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia by partnering with execution-ready local firms.

The THB 241 million raise represents the first major liquidity infusion into DV8 since its crypto pivot and will be used to accelerate its operational transformation. According to the company, the capital sets the foundation for executing its long-term digital asset strategy and serves as a template for future funding rounds tied to treasury expansion.

Memecoin Insider Creates Wolf of Wall Street-Inspired Coin Despite Potential Interpol Warrant: Report https://earlybirdsinvest.com/memecoin-insider-creates-wolf-of-wall-street-inspired-coin-despite-potential-interpol-warrant-report/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/memecoin-insider-creates-wolf-of-wall-street-inspired-coin-despite-potential-interpol-warrant-report/#respond Mon, 17 Mar 2025 15:11:28 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/memecoin-insider-creates-wolf-of-wall-street-inspired-coin-despite-potential-interpol-warrant-report/

A man linked to the launch of two collapsed memecoins has reportedly gone ahead with another project despite a potential Interpol Red Notice with his name on it.

Blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaps reports that Hayden Davis was involved in launching WOLF, a coin inspired by the Wolf of Wall Street, the hit film based on former stockbroker Jordan Belfort.

Davis admitted to being behind the launch of LIBRA, a memecoin initially backed by Argentinian president Javier Milei. He was also copped for his involvement in the launch of MELANIA, a coin based on US First Lady Melania Trump. Both coins collapsed over 92% very shortly after their launch and have not recovered.

Shortly after the launch of LIBRA, Milei disavowed the memecoin, claiming he did not understand what he was getting himself into.

According to Forbes, Argentinian prosecutor Gregorio Dalbón has asked for a judge to arrange for an Interpol arrest warrant on Davis for his role in LIBRA.

Says Dalbón,

“I’m here to request the immediate detention of Hayden Mark Davis, a citizen of the United States, who is accused of being one of the principal actors behind the launch of the cryptocurrency LIBRA…

The possibility that Davis will abandon his country of residence or hide to avoid answering for his alleged acts appears to be aggravated by the economic resources he possesses, which he can use to move or remain in hiding, hindering our investigation.”

Despite the threat of being arrested, Bubblemaps says that one wallet that sniped the launch and collapse of WOLF behaved exactly the same as a wallet involved in a previous pump and dump allegedly linked to Davis.

“Starting with the WOLF creator 6MsuHd, we followed funding transfers back across 17 addresses and five cross-chain transfers.

All led to a single address: OxcEAe

The same one owned by Hayden Davis!

Why would Hayden do this?

Maybe he thought no one would trace it back to him.

He funded these wallets months before LIBRA and WOLF launched, moving money through 17 addresses and two chains.”

At time of writing, WOLF is trading for $0.00047, down nearly 99% from its all-time high of $0.0429 recorded on March 8th, according to DEX Screener.
