The Rio upgrade has successfully been deployed to the Polygon POS Amoy TestNet, marking an important step in significantly scaling the capacity of the network.

Polygon has deployed Rio Upgrade, a central step in the Gigagas roadmap that shapes the design of the network. The upgrade is intended to increase the mainnet capacity to 5,000 transactions per second. This is a sudden jump from the current level.

The upgrade was confirmed by X’s Polygon team.

“The Rio upgrade will be live on Polygon Pos Amoy Testnet.”

At the heart of the upgrade is a new system called Validator-Elected Block Processers (VEBLOP).

This model shifts more control over validators, which play a more powerful role in determining how blocks are generated. Polygon says the change will improve fairness and efficiency while enhancing decentralization.

Other changes include Stateless block validation, which reduces the cost of validators by reducing the data burden of node execution.

Upgrades also eliminate block reorganization. This is a move aimed at increasing stability and stopping unfair reconstruction of block production.

The update is not technical. It comes when the polygon’s native token, Rio/USDT, shows signs of recovery. After several weeks of decline and side-to-side trading, the tokens went above $0.31 this week.

After weeks of pressure, Rio suddenly recovered, avoiding a $0.23 drop from $0.34 in August. The turning point occurred on September 9th, when trading volumes rose sharply, when buyers took control and unlocked more tokens.

Rio’s 50-day EMA was $0.2729 and the 100-day EMA was $0.2696, with its latest closing price of $0.3137, which was +3.26% higher than its previous closing.

The structure resembles a classic inversion: a long downtrend followed by accumulation, and a breakout backed by an increasing volume. Its volume profile suggests that both retail and institutional money is involved.

Analysts say the short-term focus is in the $0.3176 to $0.32 range. With a high sustained push, profits can range from $0.34 to $0.35, which can reach psychological barriers. However, if the token fails to adhere to $0.30, the profit could be back to $0.28.

Overall, the outlook is bullish, but it is likely volatile as Rio works through these levels of resistance.

How does Rio upgrade make transactions faster and cheaper?

Upgrading polygon Rio is another move that will remain competitive with network scaling.

This update is intended to increase throughput and reduce the final time of transactions, and therefore to create transactions faster and cheaper for users and developers.

Another biggest change is the increased role of validators. Polygon wants to enhance decentralization of the system and maintain a low-cost system by assigning higher responsibilities.

This change serves the overall purpose of establishing a platform that helps you manage global payments and manage tokenization of your actual assets.

Microsoft has resolved a known issue that caused Windows upgrades to fail with 0x8007007F errors on some Windows 11 and Windows Server systems.

Although this issue impacts both Windows client and server platforms under specific upgrade paths, it will not affect customers attempting to upgrade their devices to Windows 11 24H2 and Windows Server 2025, the latest Windows versions.

“Starting August 12, 2025, some Windows upgrades might fail with error code ‘0x8007007F’ when performed via ‘Windows Setup > Upgrade’ installation,” the company noted in a new entry on the Windows release health dashboard.

The list of upgrade paths impacted by this bug includes:

  • Upgrades from Windows 10 1809, Windows 10 21H2, and Windows 10 22H2 to Windows 11, versions 23H2 and 22H2
  • Upgrades from Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2022
  • Upgrades from Windows Server 2019 to Windows Server 2022

While the company didn’t share what was causing these upgrade problems, Redmond says the bug triggering them is now fixed.

Users who experienced issues while trying to upgrade their systems are now advised to retry the upgrade process.

“This issue was resolved as of August 15, 2025. Devices upgraded after this date should no longer encounter this error. If you do experience error ‘0x8007007F’, retrying the upgrade process will typically resolve the issue,” Redmond added.

This week, Microsoft has also released emergency out-of-band updates to address a bug that caused Windows reset and recovery to fail after installing the August 2025 security updates.

Additionally, Microsoft rolled out a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) fix last week for a bug that triggers Windows update failures when installed from a network share using the Windows Update Standalone Installer (WUSA).

​The company also resolved a separate issue triggered by the installation of the KB5063878 update, which caused the August 2025 security updates to fail with 0x80240069 errors on Windows 11 24H2 systems when delivered via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has publicly defended his influence on the blockchain network’s development following growing criticism.

In an Aug. 3 post on X (formerly Twitter), Hoskinson addressed the negative claims suggesting that his leadership was detrimental to Cardano’s progress.

Hoskinson pointed to the success of his other project, Midnight, highlighting its significant expansion with over 100 partnerships across eight ecosystems. He also emphasized the project’s liquidity influx for Cardano Native Assets (CNAs) and its leadership in Bitcoin’s DeFi space.

According to Hoskinson, these efforts have brought billions in Total Value Locked (TVL) and millions of transactions into the Cardano network.

Hoskinson further explained his strategic focus last year on deploying key technologies like Peras, Leios, and Hydra, while referencing major initiatives such as Doom and the Glacier Drop.

Moreover, he noted that his push for rapid development and significant marketing efforts, including appearances on popular shows like Shawn Ryan’s, has expanded Cardano’s reach to new audiences, including 19 million potential users.

In response to criticisms from online trolls and what he called “Charles Drangement Syndrome,” Hoskinson argued that the broader Cardano community remains unaffected and is thriving.

Considering this, Hoskinson emphasized to the critics that:

“You lost. I’m here to stay in Cardano. Deal with it.”

Input output secues $71 million funding

Meanwhile, Input Output Global, a company founded by Hoskinson, has received approval to access 96 million ADA, worth around $71 million, from the Cardano treasury.

On Aug. 2, the firm revealed that its funding proposal passed with 74% of community support.

The firm stated that the fund would support upcoming Cardano upgrades, including improvements to scalability through Hydra and Ouroboros Leios, enhanced security with Mithril, and streamlined user interactions via Nested Transactions and Project Acropolis.

Tim Harrison, EVP Community & Ecosystem, said:

“For the first time, core protocol development is being funded directly by the community. This vote of confidence empowers us to move forward with full transparency, shared responsibility, and a renewed commitment to building an open, resilient ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Intersect, a Cardano community group, will oversee fund distribution.

Input Output has also committed to providing regular updates, including monthly development reports and quarterly financial summaries, to keep the community informed on the project’s progress.

Leaker Digital Chat Station has shared the specifications for the next iteration of the HUAWEI Mate XT on Weibo. The leaker cited TENAA regulatory listings for a phone with model number GRL-AL20 to indicate that HUAWEI has received a certification for 5G support.

The successor to the Mate XT is expected to be a minor upgrade to the original tri-fold phone. For its specs, the Mate XT 2 (presumed name) is said to feature the Kirin 9020 SoC and satellite connectivity (possibly only in China). Upgrades are said to come in the form of a new 50MP large-pixel sensor with variable aperture and some improvements to the periscope telephoto camera.

Despite these minor upgrades, HUAWEI is a strong competitor against Samsung, primarily because it already has a big lead with the Mate XT. The Mate XT Ultimate Edition featured a Kirin 9010 SoC, 16GB RAM, up to 1TB storage, a 5,600mAh battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The camera setup consisted of a 50MP f/1.4-f/4 primary sensor, a 12MP periscope telephoto for 5.5x optical zoom, a 12MP ultrawide, and an 8MP selfie camera. The OLED displays steal the show, with the three setups possible: 10.2-inch fully unfolded, 7.9-inch when folded once, and 6.4-inch when fully folded. It does cost an eye-watering €3,500, but bleeding-edge tech comes at a cost.

Today, a new version of Lightning Network Daemon (LND), version 0.19.2, has been released. This update focuses primarily on bug fixes and performance improvements.

Key fixes include bugs that missed payment confirmation, rare issues that could freeze nodes during startup, and memory leaks that cause the software to use more resources over time. It also fixes crashes that can occur when a node is up in a specific mode or backup process.

This release includes an option migration to reduce the size of the “Attension Log Database” (sphinxReplay.db) to reduce disk and memory usage. This cleanup will run automatically unless it is turned off in the settings.

“Migration is optional, but by default it is turned on,” the release notes said. “If you run into problems, you can opt out of the migration by setting NO-GC-Decayed-Log = True in Config. This migration does not prevent you from being downgraded to the previous v0.19.x-beta version.”

Other changes include better handling of peer-to-peer (P2P) connections, better tracking log payments, and more accurate pricing calculations. This update also improves compatibility with test networks and adds small updates to the Command Line Tool (LNCLI).

Co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak outlined the updated focus areas in a public statement on X earlier today, emphasizing that the shift is intended to strengthen Ethereum’s long-term scalability while improving near-term usability.

Protocol Upgrades and a Revised Role for Vitalik Buterin

Stańczak described the discussions surrounding Ethereum’s base-layer roadmap as extensive and community-driven, noting that the changes are designed to sharpen focus among researchers and core developers. Stańczak wrote:

Our discussions about the Layer 1 scaling roadmap have been extensive, and the feedback so far suggests that the community appreciates our ambition. Turning that ambition into reality now depends on the focus of the core development teams and researchers.

As part of its strategic transition, the Ethereum Foundation is aiming to give Vitalik Buterin more time to focus on advanced research rather than daily operational oversight.

“We aimed, among other things, to free more of Vitalik’s time for research and exploration,” Stańczak stated, adding that Buterin’s recent writings on topics like RISC-V and zkVMs have been instrumental in directing attention toward potentially “transformative technologies.”

According to Stańczak, these insights have played a significant role in realigning the Ethereum community around long-term priorities, such as privacy, modularity, and decentralized infrastructure.

Stańczak clarified that Buterin’s proposals are not mandates but starting points for community-led exploration:

Vitalik’s proposals will always carry weight, but they are intended to start conversations and encourage progress in difficult research areas.

He also stressed the importance of giving other researchers the same freedom, highlighting ongoing work by contributors like Justin Drake and Tankard Feist.

Overall. the Foundation’s research direction is now geared toward short-term outcomes that include better Layer-1 scaling, enhanced Layer-2 integration, and more “seamless” user experiences—especially in upcoming upgrades like Pectra, Fusaka, and Glamsterdam.

RISC-V Proposal and Developer Flexibility

The Foundation is also assessing the feasibility of moving from the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) to a more modern execution environment powered by RISC-V.

This proposal, initially introduced by Buterin, suggests that RISC-V could streamline execution, improve efficiency, and simplify zero-knowledge proof implementation.

“We are exploring ways to bring forward projects that currently look three to five years away,” Stańczak noted, referencing possible acceleration in next-gen execution and consensus layer development.

RISC-V’s benefits include broader language compatibility and the potential for backward compatibility with existing EVM contracts. Developers could continue using Solidity and Vyper or expand into languages like Rust.

Additionally, RISC-V could improve validator performance through hardware-level customization, while maintaining core Ethereum features such as account models and contract interactions.

As research and experimentation continue, Stańczak emphasized the importance of community input: “Ethereum researchers often ask that readers recognize the exploratory nature of their posts and proposals. Focus remains essential.”
