The Binance Coin (BNB) market is showing high levels of bullishness, marked by an 8.92% price gain in the past week. The Binance exchange’s native cryptocurrency now trades above $800 and is merely 6% from returning to its all-time high figure. Interestingly, striking similarities between BNB’s current chart structure and Bitcoin’s trajectory in earlier phases of its bull cycle indicate the altcoin could be in the early stages of a major price rally.

Technical Patterns Suggest BNB Could Surge By Over 50%

In an X post on August 9, Ali Martinez highlights upside potential in the BNB market after weekly price data from TradingView suggests the altcoin is replicating Bitcoin’s price movement. Notably, the premier cryptocurrency is currently trading at approximately $116,769, having recently broken through multiple key resistances at $82,500, $95,000, and $110,000.

From the chart above, the similarities between BNB and Bitcoin’s price are easily seen moving through phases of accumulation, breakout, and rapid expansion.

For BTC, traders can observe a prolonged sideways range between mid-2022 and 2023, fluctuating between roughly $15,000 and $25,000, before a steady climb accelerated sharply past the $70,000 and $82,500 resistance in late 2024. Thereafter, the crypto market leader surges towards higher price targets at $95,000, $110,000, and $120,000.

Interestingly, BNB’s trajectory mirrors this pattern, with a long consolidation between $200 and $350 from 2022 to 2023, followed by a breakout above $450 and a decisive move past $700 in 2024. Presently, the altcoin finds itself trading at minor resistance at $800, similar to the $80,000 level in the BTC market.

If the parallel continues, clearing the mid-cycle resistance at $700 should unleash a strong bullish momentum, which easily pushes BNB towards $950. Thereafter, the cryptocurrency may experience an intense correction, falling to around $777, before climbing towards $1,200 to produce a 50% gain from current market prices.

However, while chart similarities offer compelling insights, they do not guarantee identical outcomes. Macroeconomic conditions, regulatory events that affect Binance could impact the BNB’s rally. Alternatively, the potential of an impending altseason may cause BNB to deviate from the observed parallel performance, causing the altcoin to outperform Bitcoin.

At press time, BNB trades at $810 after a slight 1.78% gain in the last 24 hours. On larger timeframes, the digital asset also remains in profit with price increases of 8.57% and 19.04% on the weekly and monthly charts, respectively. This performance suggests that BNB traders are largely maintaining a bullish outlook, with buying interest persisting across both short- and long-term horizons as momentum continues to build.

Meanwhile, with a market cap of $112.36 billion, the Binance Coin continues to rank as the fifth-largest cryptocurrency and fourth-largest altcoin in the market.

WTF?! Would you be willing to wear a stick-on facial tattoo that makes you look like a poor Cyberpunk 2077 cosplayer? You might be more tempted by the fact it’s designed to show when your brain is overworked and you’re at risk of making errors.

Dr Nanshu Lu, an author of the research from the University of Texas at Austin, writes that the e-tattoo could be valuable for professions that require high levels of concentration for extended periods, such as air traffic controllers, vehicle drivers, pilots, and robot operators.

The device could give wearers warnings and alerts should it detect they are becoming mentally overloaded, allowing them to adjust their workload or ask a co-worker for some help.

“Technology is developing faster than human evolution. Our brain capacity cannot keep up and can easily get overloaded,” said Lu. “There is an optimal mental workload for optimal performance, which differs from person to person.”

“Previous studies indicated that the optimal mental performance occurs when the mental workload demand is not too low or too high,” Lu added. “When it’s too low, it’s very boring, and the people will just lose focus.”

Lu and colleagues write that using self-reporting questionnaires for mental workload assessment often results in participants not objectively reporting their cognitive effort, and they are often conducted after a task.

While traditional electroencephalography (EEG) and electrooculography (EOG) devices can be used for physiological mental workload monitoring, they are wired, bulky, and uncomfortable. They are also affected by head movements, meaning they’re not exactly practical for real-world use.

The wireless forehead EEG and EOG sensor is designed to be as thin and conformable as possible. It is worn on the skin as a temporary tattoo sticker, which means it can be worn while the wearer is also sporting headgear such as a helmet. Being a sticker means the device can be personalized to fit different sized heads, ensuring the sensors are always in the right spot.

The tattoo is disposable and connected to a reusable flexible printed circuit using conductive tape, with the battery clipped on the device. The entire setup is expected to cost less than $200.

The researchers tested the system by placing the tattoo on six volunteers. The participants watched 20 letters flash onto a screen one after another, each in a different spot. They clicked the mouse whenever the current letter or its position matched the one that had appeared a number (N) of items earlier. Every volunteer repeated the exercise several times while N varied from 0 to 3, creating four escalating difficulty levels.

As the tests became more difficult, theta and delta brainwaves increased, indicating increased cognitive demands, while alpha and beta activity increased in line with their fatigue.

After feeding all the test data into a machine-learning algorithm, the researchers found the system was better able to predict mental workload than EEG and EOG data alone.

The next step for the researchers is to find a method for the signals to be decoded by the device’s microprocessor, which can then alert an app if a wearer’s mental workload becomes too high.

Raffle-Auction Ticket Wave

Like we did for Devcon VI, we’ll again be featuring an on-chain Raffle-Auction as our first wave of tickets. We want to continue demonstrating the power of Ethereum to host provably fair and verifiable Raffles & Auctions, while increasing the methods we use to distribute tickets to the many thousands that want to attend each year.

204 tickets will be offered in the Raffle-Auction this year. The highest 20 bids will win the Auction. Those who enter with the Minimum Bid or do not win in the auction will enter into the raffle and have a chance at winning one of 184 Devcon tickets being distributed. In this sense, we aim for the distribution outcome to be approximately 10% efficient and 90% fair.

Minimum Bid — 0.08 ETH (equal to the $299 price of a discounted Builder Ticket at the time of publication).

All proceeds from the Auction above the reserve price will be used to help people attend Devcon through funding programs like the EF Next Billion Scholars program and other Devcon initiatives. If you bid above the reserve price but do not win in the auction, you will automatically be funneled into the Raffle for a ticket. If you win the Raffle, you will be able to withdraw all funds above the Reserve price. If you do not win in either the Raffle or Auction, you will be able to withdraw all of your funds. Like last time, one lucky winner will receive a free Golden Ticket to Devcon & will be able to withdraw all of their funds.

Sybil-Resistance

This year, we are using Gitcoin Passport to add a secure sybil-resistance mechanism to the Raffle-Auction. You will need to log into your Passport OR create one & validate your stamps in order to participate in this year’s Raffle-Auction ticket wave.
