Investors are counting down to the Federal Reserve’s Sept. 17 monetary policy decision; markets expect a quarter-point rate cut that could trigger short-term volatility but potentially fuel longer-term gains across risk assets.

The economic backdrop highlights the Fed’s delicate balancing act.

According to the latest CPI report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday, consumer prices rose 0.4% in August, lifting the annual CPI rate to 2.9% from 2.7% in July, as shelter, food, and gasoline pushed costs higher. Core CPI also climbed 0.3%, extending its steady pace of recent months.

Producer prices told a similar story: per the latest PPI report released on Wednesday, the headline PPI index slipped 0.1% in August but remained 2.6% higher than a year earlier, while core PPI advanced 2.8%, the largest yearly increase since March. Together, the reports underscore stubborn inflationary pressure even as growth slows.

The labor market has softened further.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by just 22,000 in August, with federal government and energy sector job losses offsetting modest gains in health care. Unemployment held at 4.3%, while labor force participation remained stuck at 62.3%.

Revisions showed June and July job growth was weaker than initially reported, reinforcing signs of cooling momentum. Average hourly earnings still rose 3.7% year over year, keeping wage pressures alive.

Bond markets have adjusted accordingly. Per data from MarketWatch, 2-year Treasury yield sits at 3.56%, while the 10-year is at 4.07%, leaving the curve modestly inverted. Futures traders see a 93% chance of a 25 basis point cut, according to CME FedWatch.

If the Fed limits its move to just 25 bps, investors may react with a “buy the rumor, sell the news” response, since markets have already priced in relief.

Equities are testing record levels.

The S&P 500 closed Friday at 6,584 after rising 1.6% for the week, its best since early August. The index’s one-month chart shows a strong rebound from its late-August pullback, underscoring bullish sentiment heading into Fed week.

The Nasdaq Composite also notched five straight record highs, ending at 22,141, powered by gains in megacap tech stocks, while the Dow slipped below 46,000 but still booked a weekly advance.

Crypto and commodities have rallied alongside.

Bitcoin is trading at $115,234, below its Aug. 14 all-time high near $124,000 but still firmly higher in 2025, with the global crypto market cap now $4.14 trillion.

Gold has surged to $3,643 per ounce, near record highs, with its one-month chart showing a steady upward trajectory as investors price in lower real yields and seek inflation hedges.

Historical precedent supports the cautious optimism.

Analysis from the Kobeissi Letter — reported in an X thread posted Saturday — citing Carson Research, shows that in 20 of 20 prior cases since 1980 where the Fed cut rates within 2% of S&P 500 all-time highs, the index was higher one year later, averaging gains of nearly 14%.

The shorter term is less predictable: in 11 of those 22 instances, stocks fell in the month following the cut. Kobeissi argues this time could follow a similar pattern — initial turbulence followed by longer-term gains as rate relief amplifies the momentum behind assets like equities, bitcoin and gold.

The broader setup explains why traders are watching the Sept. 17 announcement closely.

Cutting rates while inflation edges higher and stocks hover at records risks denting credibility, yet staying on hold could spook markets that have already priced in easing. Either way, the Fed’s message on growth, inflation, and its policy outlook will likely shape the trajectory of markets for months to come.

First Dogecoin ETF to launch on Sept 11, Bloomberg analyst says https://earlybirdsinvest.com/first-dogecoin-etf-to-launch-on-sept-11-bloomberg-analyst-says/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/first-dogecoin-etf-to-launch-on-sept-11-bloomberg-analyst-says/#respond Tue, 09 Sep 2025 15:29:43 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/first-dogecoin-etf-to-launch-on-sept-11-bloomberg-analyst-says/

Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas said the first US exchange-traded fund linked directly to Dogecoin will debut Thursday, Sept. 11.

In a Sept. 9 update on X, he said Rex-Osprey’s planned DOGE ETF (ticker: DOJE) signals the start of what he described as the “memecoin ETF era.”

Balchunas emphasized the fund’s unusual nature, noting that it would be the first U.S. ETF designed to hold an asset “with no utility on purpose.”

DOJE ETF

This development comes barely a week after Rex-Osprey filed for the ETF product with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The quick turnaround can be linked to the fact that DOJE was registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, a strategy that speeds up approval compared with the traditional 19b-4 process required for spot crypto ETFs.

Under this approach, the fund is structured as a C-corporation that provides DOGE exposure through a Cayman Islands subsidiary.

Notably, the same framework was used for its Staking Solana Fund (SSK), giving the firm a track record of navigating the structure.

However, this setup often draws skepticism from some investors who cite concerns about potential double taxation.

Nonetheless, this approach would allow an issuer to move quickly, while rivals might remain in the queue because they apply through the Securities Act of 1933 route.

DOGE treasury firm

The ETF development coincides with a major corporation adopting Dogecoin for its digital asset treasury initiative.

On Sept. 8, CleanCore Solutions, Inc., a company listed on the NYSE American exchange, revealed that it purchased 285.4 million DOGE valued at $68 million. This transaction made CleanCore the largest Dogecoin treasury holder to date.

CleanCore said the purchase is the first stage in a plan to accumulate one billion DOGE within 30 days and ultimately secure 5% of the token’s circulating supply.

The Dogecoin Foundation and its corporate arm, House of Doge, backed the initiative. Their strategy positions DOGE as a digital asset for payments, tokenization projects, staking-style products, and cross-border transfers.

To provide custody and execution for the new treasury, the House of Doge also announced a partnership with Bitstamp USA, which now operates under Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD). Under the agreement, the Official Dogecoin Treasury will be managed on Bitstamp by Robinhood’s platform.

According to the partners, this setup is intended to strengthen transparency and stability while laying the foundation for yield-bearing products that could expand Dogecoin’s role in mainstream finance

FTX creditors to receive next round of payouts by Sept 30 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ftx-creditors-to-receive-next-round-of-payouts-by-sept-30/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ftx-creditors-to-receive-next-round-of-payouts-by-sept-30/#respond Thu, 24 Jul 2025 02:27:22 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ftx-creditors-to-receive-next-round-of-payouts-by-sept-30/

The FTX Recovery Trust has set Aug. 15 as the record date for its next distribution to creditors, with payments expected to begin around Sept. 30, according to a statement released on July 23

The window covers holders of allowed Class 5 Customer Entitlement Claims and Class 6 General Unsecured Claims under the confirmed plan, along with Convenience Claims that became allowed after earlier cutoffs and have not yet been paid.

Additional funds for upcoming round

The estate also received court approval to reduce its disputed claims reserve by $1.9 billion, bringing it from $6.5 billion to $ 4.6 billion. The move frees additional cash for the upcoming round, which BitGo, Kraken, and Payoneer will administer.

According to the statement, only creditors who have cleared all pre-distribution requirements will receive funds.

FTX reminded claimants that once the estate transfers money to their chosen provider, account access and support fall to that platform. Creditors must finish Know Your Customer checks, submit tax forms, and complete onboarding before disbursements are made.

Transfers of claims remain subject to strict timing. Distributions will flow only to transferees whose assignments are processed and reflected on the official claims register by the August 15 record date, after the 21-day objection period expires without challenge.

Continuing the payouts

The schedule marks the latest major payout milestone since the exchange collapsed in late 2022, and follows months of reconciliation, asset sales, and litigation over who is owed what.

On May 30, creditors received nearly $5 billion in repayments, marking the second round of repayments that began on February 18

The round addressed creditors with claims valued at $50,000 or less, with 9% annual interest accrued since the bankruptcy filing in November 2022

The statement highlighted that the FTX Trust does not require potential creditors to connect wallets to verify eligibility or receive reimbursements.

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) says U.S. lawmakers are looking to have crypto market structure legislation completed by September of this year.

Tim Scott Sets September 30 Crypto Market Structure Deadline

Appearing in a fireside chat on Capitol Hill alongside fellow Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and the head of the President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets of the White House, Bo Hines, Scott said he is eyeing a September 30 deadline to finalize the long-awaited legislation.

“I think that is a realistic expectation,” the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee said.

“As stated today, we are committed to getting market structure done by the end of September,” Hines said in a June 26 X post. “Period.”

Key Crypto Players Celebrate

Following the news, several key crypto heavyweights shared their enthusiasm over the digital assets development.

“A clear path forward,” Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said. “Thank you, David Sacks for delivering the White House’s commitment to work with Senator Tim Scott and Senator Cynthia Lummis to deliver market structure legislation by September 30.”

“Getting comprehensive crypto market structure legislation passed has been sorely needed for years,” said Colin McCune, Head of Government Affairs at a16z. “We’re incredibly supportive of this effort to make it happen by September 30.”

“American consumers and crypto builders need clear, effective rules, and we stand ready to help get this done,” he added.

Scott’s updated legislative timeframe comes amid a groundswell of congressional crypto activity under a new crypto-friendly White House.

Earlier this month, the Senate passed the GENIUS Act, marking a win for the landmark stablecoin legislation.

In an appearance on CNBC this week, Lummis warned that Congress must pass both crypto market structure legislation and the GENIUS Act by the end of 2025.

“I’m not saying combine them, but they both need to pass this year,” Lummis said.

With a September 30 deadline now in the works for the crypto market structure bill, it looks as though 2026 may start with new crypto guidelines.
