Crypto falls hard: Google Search Trends Calls the Final Local Market Top https://earlybirdsinvest.com/crypto-falls-hard-google-search-trends-calls-the-final-local-market-top/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/crypto-falls-hard-google-search-trends-calls-the-final-local-market-top/#respond Sat, 30 Aug 2025 21:01:34 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/crypto-falls-hard-google-search-trends-calls-the-final-local-market-top/

The crypto market succumbed to a substantial amount of bear pressure that began on Thursday, August 28th, with most of the big assets falling to a new low on Friday, August 29th.

Naturally, the latest data suggests that this latest price drop, seen across the digital asset market, may have been predicted. This conclusion is based on recent cryptographic activity at Google, the world’s largest search engine.

Is Crypto Bull Cycle over?

In a post on August 29th on social media platform X, Alphractal founder and CEO Joao Wedson revealed that crypto-related searches on Google have been surged to new highs recently. This recent surge in Google searches suggests that Bitcoin and the broader crypto market may have reached a new local top, according to on-chain data experts.

This revelation is based on the Google Trends chart. This allows investors to assess the social engagement of a variety of crypto-related topics on search engines. As shown in the chart below, metrics compare a variety of subjects, including cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, altcoin, centralized exchange, and data aggregation platforms.

As observed in the highlighted chart, Google Trends metrics have recently witnessed a significant surge, suggesting an increase in public attention across multiple crypto topics. According to Wedson, this type of spike has historically coincided with whales entering the market to sell while “everyone is obsessed.”

Furthermore, cryptocurrency markets have often shown a trend in the past to move in the opposite direction of crowds. These trends explain the price drops seen by most digital assets in the past few days as the market appears to have reached the new local top.

However, Wedson pointed out that other on-chain signals say the market slump, led by the latest well-being, does not necessarily spell the end of the current bull cycle. “Look back to BTC hitting $124K. Euphoria peaked online, whales actively sold, and we’ve been shortened,” the founder of Alfractal added.

Wedson then advised investors to take caution when Euphoria hits the crypto market, as it could suggest that Euphoria is imminent from the local top. Analysts at Crypto said a better strategy is to exit the market wisely at a higher price and then re-enter at a cheaper rate.

The total crypto market capitalization is $3.7 trillion

At the time of writing, Crypto’s total market capitalization was just above $3.7 trillion, reflecting a nearly 4% decline over the past day. Over $142 billion has been released from the crypto market in the last 24 hours, according to TradingView data.

AI Search Under Fire? Google Says Traffic’s Holding Steady https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ai-search-under-fire-google-says-traffics-holding-steady/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ai-search-under-fire-google-says-traffics-holding-steady/#respond Thu, 07 Aug 2025 22:53:28 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ai-search-under-fire-google-says-traffics-holding-steady/

Google has pushed back against claims that its artificial intelligence (AI) search features are harming website traffic, according to a blog post published on August 6.

The company stated that the overall number of clicks from its search engine to external websites has remained consistent compared to last year. It also said that the quality of those clicks has slightly improved.

According to Liz Reid, Google’s Head of Search, recent reports suggesting declines in site traffic are misleading. She explained that many of these findings are based on weak data, isolated examples, or changes that took place before Google’s AI tools were fully launched.

Reid acknowledged that online habits are changing, which has led to a shift in where users go. Some websites may be gaining more attention, while others are seeing less, though Google did not give any numbers to show how common either case is.

She noted that people seem more interested in sites that offer personal insights, such as forums, videos, podcasts, and blog posts that share firsthand experiences.

Reid also suggested that it is more helpful to look at how meaningful those clicks are. She stated that people who land on a site from an AI-generated response tend to engage more deeply.

Google pointed to its AI Overviews, which display several links on the results page. Reid wrote that this feature creates more chances for websites to appear and be visited.

Google’s AI Mode Changes the Search Game in the UK https://earlybirdsinvest.com/googles-ai-mode-changes-the-search-game-in-the-uk/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/googles-ai-mode-changes-the-search-game-in-the-uk/#respond Tue, 29 Jul 2025 20:55:46 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/googles-ai-mode-changes-the-search-game-in-the-uk/

Google has introduced a new feature in the United Kingdom that changes the way search results are shown, according to a July 28 press release.

Called “AI Mode”, the setting provides a single, written answer in a natural tone instead of the usual list of blue links. This response includes fewer direct links to websites and is meant to give a more complete summary based on the question asked.

This update does not replace the standard search format, which continues to handle billions of searches daily.

However, it has raised concerns among companies and publishers that rely on visitors coming through Google’s traditional search.

BBC reported that many businesses get traffic and income because their pages appear in the top results or because they have paid for ad space. With fewer visible links in artificial intelligence (AI) summaries, users may not click through to websites as often, which could hurt those who depend on that traffic.

Google has not decided yet how advertising will work in this new format. Hema Budaraju, who works on the search product team, said it is still too early to say whether businesses will be able to pay to appear in AI answers.

Additionally, Google said it created AI Mode in response to changing search habits. In the past, people might have searched for short phrases. Currently, users tend to type out full sentences.

On July 24, Elon Musk hinted on X that Vine, the short video app once owned by Twitter, might return with AI features. How did X users respond? Read the full story.

The search feature for the Windows 10 emoji panel is broken after installing the KB5062554 cumulative update released Tuesday, making it not possible to look up emojis by name or keyword.

Windows includes an emoji panel that allows you to select emojis to insert into text or search for an emoji using keywords.

On Tuesday, Microsoft released Windows updates to fix bugs and security vulnerabilities as part of the July 2025 Patch Tuesday.

Since installing the Windows 10 KB5062554 update, numerous users report they are unable to use the search feature of the emoji picker to find and insert emojis into their writing.

“After installing the July 2025 cumulative update (KB5062554), the emoji picker still mostly works – you can call it up with (Win + .) and clicking an emoji pastes it correctly – but the emoji search function is completely bricked,” a Windows 10 user posted to Reddit.

“The moment you type anything in the searchbar you get the “We couldn’t find this one” error.”

BleepingComputer can confirm that the search feature in the Windows 10 emoji panel worked before installing the KB5062554 update. However, after installing the update, the feature no longer worked, now stating “We couldn’t find this one,” no matter what we typed.

Windows 10 reaches end of support on October 14, 2025, with technical support, feature updates, and security updates no longer provided by Microsoft for free.

Enterprise and consumers can purchase extended updates, but this only extends Windows 10 security updates for one year for consumers and up to three years for businesses.

While Microsoft will likely fix this bug in the coming months, they are pushing people to upgrade to Windows 11, where they are focusing all of their development.

BleepingComputer contacted Microsoft to see if they plan on fixing this bug, and will update the story when we receive a response.

Global and Perplexity AI
have started a new partnership that brings live cryptocurrency prices and data to Perplexity’s search tools.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced the collaboration in a July 10 post on X. He stated that the deal will help people get clear and reliable information about digital assets directly while they search online.

The partnership is launching in two stages. Starting immediately, Perplexity’s Comet browser add-on will display prices, charts, and Coinbase’s COIN50 index as part of its market insights. Users will be able to see this data alongside their search results when they look up crypto topics.

The next phase, which Armstrong said is “coming soon,” will have Perplexity’s AI include Coinbase data directly in its answers. This allows users to check prices, track trends, and learn about specific tokens just by asking questions.

By connecting its data feed to Perplexity’s AI, Coinbase aims to make it easier for newcomers and experienced users to understand what is happening in the cryptocurrency market without needing to visit a separate platform.

For Perplexity, the feature adds a new way for its users to get up-to-date information directly within search results.

Additionally, Armstrong said in the announcement:

This new access to reliable real-time data via increasingly intelligent LLMs will help lots more people make smart, informed decisions about crypto.

Bank of America, Netflix and Apple Customers Targeted by Widescale Google Search Scams: Report https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bank-of-america-netflix-and-apple-customers-targeted-by-widescale-google-search-scams-report/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bank-of-america-netflix-and-apple-customers-targeted-by-widescale-google-search-scams-report/#respond Tue, 24 Jun 2025 16:03:28 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bank-of-america-netflix-and-apple-customers-targeted-by-widescale-google-search-scams-report/

Cybercriminals are reportedly engineering fraudulent search results to trick unsuspecting victims seeking tech support assistance.

Jérôme Segura, the senior director of research at the antivirus firm Malwarebytes, says the criminals use sponsored search results on Google to trick people looking for 24/7 support for Apple, Bank of America, Facebook, HP, Microsoft, Netflix and PayPal.

The fake advertisements take people to copycat websites that imitate the sites of those big brands mentioned above. Instead of posting a real tech support phone number, the sites direct people to call scam numbers, Segura explains.

“The browser address bar will show that of the legitimate site, and so there’s no reason for suspicion. However, the information the visitor sees will be misleading, because the search results have been poisoned to display the scammer’s number prominently in what looks like an official search result.

Once the number is called, the scammers will pose as the brand with the aim of getting their victim to hand over personal data or card details, or even allow remote access to their computer. In the case of Bank of America or PayPal, the scammers want access to their victim’s financial account so they can empty it of money.”

Source: Malwarebytes

Segura warns that people seeking tech support online should be aware of various scam warning signs, like a phone number in the URL and encoded characters like the %20 (space) and %2B (+ sign), along with phone numbers.

The malware researcher also says people should look out for websites that display urgent language like “Call Now,” “Account suspended,” and “Emergency support,” as well as similarly urgent language in the address bar of the browser.

Key Takeaways:

  • Global search interest for Pi Network has fallen to its lowest point of 2025.
  • Pi Coin IOU trading volume has collapsed by 97% since mid-May.
  • Technical hurdles remain, with Pi Coin still locked in a bearish trend near $0.637.

Global search interest in Pi Network has fallen to its lowest level of 2025, raising fresh questions about the project’s momentum just weeks ahead of its flagship event, Pi2Day, on June 28.

According to Google Trends, search interest for “Pi Network” now sits at a score of just 5, lower than levels seen before the network’s enclosed mainnet launched.

The data, which shows interest peaked in March 2025, signals declining public interest in the network following its long-awaited launch of its mainnet, dubbed the “Open Network,” in February.

Pi Coin IOU Trading Collapses as Market Interest Fades

The sharp drop in visibility comes alongside a collapse in trading activity for Pi Coin IOUs on unofficial markets.

Daily volume has plunged from over $2 billion in mid-May to just $56 million as of June 4, a staggering 97% decline.

Despite the downturn, some in the community remain hopeful that Pi2Day — an annual celebration tied to Elon Musk’s birthday — could deliver a turnaround.

In a post on X, Pi Network Alerts told followers that big updates are coming for Pi2Day, with mass migration expected to begin in the coming days.

Speculation around a potential Binance listing has also fueled chatter.

CryptoLeakVN claimed, “Hot rumor: Binance might list Pi Coin on Pi2Day (June 28th)? If true, this could mark a historic milestone for the Pi Network!” There has been no confirmation from Binance or the Pi Core Team.

Behind the scenes, some developers warn that technical hurdles remain.

Dimas Nawawi, a vocal Pi contributor, cautioned that Pi Nodes still require protocol upgrades and that the Core Team has yet to select Nodes for Mainnet.

He noted that only dozens of Mainnet Nodes are currently active out of more than 200,000 ready for deployment.

Nawawi also pointed out that running smart contracts will require an update to at least Protocol version 20.

He criticized recent grassroots campaigns pushing for an immediate Global Conversion Value (GCV), arguing that GCV should be achieved through proper development rather than community-driven urgency.

Unless the Pi Core Team delivers clear progress this month, Pi2Day risks falling flat — adding to growing doubts over whether Pi Coin’s long-promised open mainnet will ever launch.

Pi Coin Struggles Persist as Pi Trades Near Lows

Pi Coin continues to face bearish pressure, with the token hovering around $0.637 at press time.

The broader trend remains weak, as shown in the 1-hour chart, where PI has been locked in a persistent downtrend since April, with no meaningful reversal attempts.

Bollinger Bands are tightening, reflecting reduced volatility, while RSI sits at a bearish 33.51 — suggesting momentum remains to the downside.

The 5-minute chart shows a sharper intraday drop below $0.64 earlier today, with RSI briefly touching 25.93, indicating oversold conditions before a modest bounce.

However, no sustained bullish follow-through has emerged, and MACD remains in negative territory.

On the 1-minute chart, a minor recovery is visible with RSI back to 48.48 and MACD flipping slightly positive, but this short-term uptick is not yet supported by strong volume.

Key resistance now lies near the mid-Bollinger Band at $0.647–$0.65.

Failure to reclaim this level would keep PI vulnerable to further declines. The next support zone is near $0.62–$0.625, a region tested multiple times over the past two weeks.

Google claims users find ads in AI search ‘helpful’ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/google-claims-users-find-ads-in-ai-search-helpful/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/google-claims-users-find-ads-in-ai-search-helpful/#respond Mon, 26 May 2025 13:32:00 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/google-claims-users-find-ads-in-ai-search-helpful/

Google

Google AI mode and AI Overviews now have ads, which, according to the search engine giant, are “helpful.”

At the Google Marketing Live event last week, Google confirmed it has started rolling out ads to AI mode and AI Overviews in the US, which create new “opportunities for customers.”

While I haven’t seen ads in AI Overviews, some users spotted them last week, and these ads appear below the AI Overviews, followed by the traditional blue links.

Google AI ads
Ads in Google AI overviews (Desktop)

In a support document spotted by SER, Google described ads in AI search results as a new way to find information on the web.

SEO consultant Gagan Ghotra pointed out an interesting excerpt in the document that claims users find ads in these AI search results helpful.

“Google internal data shows that people have been finding the ads within AI Overviews helpful because they can quickly connect with relevant businesses, products, and services to take the next step at the exact moment they need them,” the company wrote in the document.

Google won’t share the numbers or methodology of its “internal data,” but it wants you to believe that ads are helpful, especially in AI search results.

Ads aren’t necessarily bad, but they’re certainly not helpful when they mislead users or appear above the actual content and disrupt the flow.

Google reported $72.5 billion in advertising revenue in its last quarterly report, and it’s expected to increase as ads expand beyond the blue links.

Google Circle to Search on a Google Pixel 9 Pro

Aamir Siddiqui / Android Authority

I’ll admit: long-pressing the home button to trigger a visual search was a genius move by Google. I use Circle to Search more often than I ever thought, whether it’s to identify plants, bugs, or famous landmarks in TV shows. Surprisingly, it also has a hidden talent for identifying colors.

Many web pages and apps help identify colors, providing all the details you might need, and sometimes even more, like additional codes and values. The problem with these tools is that you must upload an image, describe the color, or use a color wheel or slider. They’re not immediately accessible. With Circle to Search, long-pressing the home button beneath my thumb is all that’s needed.

Have you found a use case for Circle to Search?

60 votes

Color is all about perception. One person might see a gold dress, while another sees a blue one. To clarify this ambiguity, we assign specific names or values to colors. For instance, Aquamarine, Cerulean, and Navy Blue are all specific tints and shades of blue but vastly different. Whether ordering paint for your kitchen wall based on your Pinterest mood board or selecting complementary colors for a DIY Android widget, having a tool that can accurately identify colors is useful.

What color is that couch? Circle to Search has an answer

circle to search color identification test feature

Andy Walker / Android Authority

I hilariously stumbled upon this Circle to Search feature when trying to identify something else entirely, but I was interested to see how good it is when specifically targeting solid colors. I triggered the tool to test these capabilities and highlighted small splotches of solid colors on my home screen and various web pages. This activates a Google search with an AI Overview blurb, a list of related results, and specific hex or color codes in some cases.

Sometimes, AI Overview provides a hex code. Alternatively, it offers context about that specific color, be it another identifier, like RGB or CMYK, or a few “facts” about it. For instance, the dark blue (second image) represents “depth, stability, and calmness” according to the search tool. This information may not be helpful to everyone, but it’s just the type of description I’d need when choosing paint for a specific room. It still offers valuable information even if it doesn’t have much to say about a color. This salmon shade I ran through it (third image) suggested a paint color available at my local hardware store!

After seeing these results, I wanted to test how well Google knew Pantone colors. I pulled up a palette detailing the year’s hues and got to work.

It accurately identified Olive Green and provided an RAL code — a color identification system used for varnish, powder coatings, and plastics. Oddly, it struggles with more generic colors. It identified Pantone’s Orange Peel as simply “Pantone Orange” and offered a separate product using that shade. That’s useful, I guess, but hundreds of Pantone orange varieties are available.

Notably, if you’re not using a solid color taken directly from the web, Circle to Search is easily influenced by textures, shadows, and the quality of your camera. The same couch will look different in direct sunlight and fluorescent light. Be aware of this when walking around with your camera, snapping products, and hoping to pinpoint their color later. It does a pretty good job with fabrics, though, offering more information on my couch cushion.

Just don’t use it for professional work, OK?

A more embarrassing miss occurred with a particularly fetching blue from Samsung’s default wallpaper set. AI Overview identified it not as a color, but as a sanitary product. I’m unsure how AI Overview arrived at this answer, but it seemed pretty convinced! I also focused on the yellow dot in the image, which the tool believed was a part of a banana. This one did get a chuckle out ot me.

That conviction becomes a problem in other ways, too. Take this accent color we use across Android Authority.

Circle to Search mentions that the color is a “mix of blue and green” and offers descriptions like Ocean Green, Dark Sea Green, and Sea Blue, which are in the ballpark but aren’t home runs. Only when I scroll down to the related search results do I find a hex code that matches the color almost exactly. A more accurate answer exists, but AI Overview prioritizes the less precise information first. These errors are rare, but they affect the reliability of all the results I receive.

I can’t expect Circle to Search to be a perfect color identifier, but I’m surprised that it did so well in my tests.

Look, I can’t expect Circle to Search to be a perfect color identifier, especially compared to more specialized tools. Color science requires precision, and Circle to Search is designed as a general visual search tool. As I’ve mentioned, the results also depend on the source you’re using. As a result, there’s a degree of variability that’s involved. Your phone’s camera or screen might not capture or present a color-accurate image of a couch, cushion, wall, or plant pot, particularly when filters are applied or lighting conditions vary. It’s also easily thrown by textures and shadows. In short, Circle to Search isn’t for mission-critical work. You shouldn’t use it for professional purposes, but for everyone else, it makes snapshot color identification more accessible. It’s a great way to learn about colors or garner inspiration. I certainly learned plenty.

Nevertheless, despite its flaws, I’m still surprised it did so well in my tests. With a little more work, Google could have a surprisingly reliable Circle to Search use case. I already use the tool to identify structures, dog breeds, flowers, and actors. I can now add colors to this rather odd list.
