Geneva, Switzerland – August 3, 2025 –  Justin Sun, founder of TRON, successfully completed a historic journey to space aboard Blue Origin’s 14th human spaceflight and the 34th flight for the New Shepard program. With the successful completion of this mission, Sun becomes the youngest Chinese-born commercial astronaut and the first entrepreneur from the cryptocurrency industry featured on the cover of Forbes to reach space.

“For this mission we waited four years, but we finally delivered. I really appreciate Mr. Bezos and his team for making this possible. And thank you dad and mom for bringing me into earth,” said Sun upon his return. “When I look from space, the earth is so small and it’s our home. We need to do whatever we can do to protect it.”

In 2021, Sun placed the winning bid for the first seat on New Shepard. The $28 million in proceeds were donated to Blue Origin’s foundation, Club for the Future, which selected 19 space-focused non-profits to each receive a $1 million grant to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) for the benefit of Earth and help invent the future of life in space. 

Sun carried 1,000 personal wishes from the global TRON community aboard the flight, a symbolic gesture representing the TRON ecosystem’s first presence beyond Earth’s atmosphere. This moment served as a tribute to the entire crypto industry including the builders, users, and supporters who have helped advance the Web3 mission of decentralization and innovation around the world.

Sun’s successful spaceflight represents far more than an individual achievement, it represents a growing intersection between commercial space exploration and emerging technologies like blockchain. As a pioneer in digital finance and decentralized systems, Sun’s milestone shows how bold leadership can drive both technological progress and human discovery. Tron founder Justin Sun will join the next Blue Origin crewed flight, the company announced Tuesday. He is the latest high-profile figure to board Jeff Bezos’ New Shepard rocket.

Sun won the first New Shepard seat in a 2021 auction with a $28 million bid that funded 19 space-focused charities, but couldn’t attend the July 2021 flight due to a scheduling conflict.

He will fly alongside real estate investor Arvi Bahal, Turkish businessman Gökhan Erdem, Puerto Rican meteorologist Deborah Martorell, UK-born nonprofit founder Lionel Pitchford, and venture capitalist J.D. Russell on the NS-34 mission.

Another Billionaire Heads to Space

In its official press release, Blue Origin revealed that this will be the 14th human flight for its New Shepard program and the 34th in its overall flight history, with the launch date to be announced.

The mission will add six more individuals to the 70 people Blue Origin has flown past the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space.

Sun was featured on Forbes’ April 2025 cover as one of crypto’s most outspoken figures. He joins a growing roster of entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and celebrities who have flown with Blue Origin, which has included William Shatner, Michael Strahan, Katy Perry, and Gayle King in previous missions.

From Sculpture Disputes to Eating a $5M Banana

Earlier this year, Sun filed a lawsuit against music mogul David Geffen in Manhattan federal court to reclaim or receive up to $80 million in damages for an Alberto Giacometti sculpture he claims was stolen and sold without his consent.

The Tron founder alleged that a former aide, Xiong Zihan Sydney, forged documents and used a fake lawyer to execute the sale of the Le Nez sculpture, and swapped it for Geffen’s art and cash worth around $65.5 million. Geffen’s legal team, however, called the lawsuit “bizarre and baseless,” while rejecting Sun’s claims and denying any wrongdoing in the dispute.

Last November, Sun bought one of three limited edition rights to Maurizio Cattelan’s Comedian – the 2019 artwork showing a banana duct-taped to a wall at a New York auction for $5.2 million. Not long after the purchase, he publicly ate the banana on stage.

He also pledged to buy 100,000 bananas from the New York street vendor who had initially provided the fruit for the artwork.

The White House has redirected its official COVID-19 information portal, COVID.gov, to a new landing page titled “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19.” Late Friday night, the administration dropped a post on X saying “DEFINITELY DON’T VISIT COVID.GOV,” followed by a giggling emoji.

The page may not serve as conclusive evidence of the pandemic origins that claimed more than seven million lives globally and was responsible for some of the worst economic turmoil our world has ever seen, but it’s a clear endorsement of the theory that the pandemic began with a laboratory accident in Wuhan, China.

Five main arguments of the Lab Leak theory

The landing page cites the final report from the Republican-led Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, and presents five main arguments supporting the lab leak hypothesis.

It claims that the virus exhibits features not found in nature, originated from a single human introduction, and that researchers at Wuhan’s top SARS lab fell ill with COVID-like symptoms in the fall of 2019, long before the virus appeared at the wet market.

The report also affirms that China’s foremost SARS research lab (with a history of gain-of-function research) is based in Wuhan and alleges that it has “inadequate biosafety levels.” Finally, it argues that if there had been evidence of a natural origin, it would have appeared by now.

The administration also attacks public government officials, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, and New York mayor Andrew Cuomo for promoting research designed to dismiss the lab leak theory, and for making false statements to the Select Subcommittee.

COVID-19 and the crypto markets

The COVID-19 pandemic is widely recognized as a “black swan” event, an unpredictable and unprecedented crisis that sent shockwaves through global financial markets in March 2020. The rapid spread of the virus and the announcement of global lockdowns triggered extreme volatility and panic selling across asset classes, including crypto.

Bitcoin and other digital assets, which had not previously experienced a major systematic crisis, saw sharp declines as investors rushed to liquidate positions and seek safety in cash. Between March 12 and April 1, 2020, the crypto market underwent a period of intense panic and sell-offs, mirroring broader market uncertainty. Bitcoin, which had traded near $7,000 before the crisis, saw its price plunge alongside equities as investors scrambled for liquidity.

However, thanks to the magic money printers of global governments worldwide pumping trillions into their economies, the crypto sector quickly rebounded. By July 2020, the market had largely recovered, and Bitcoin began a historic rally. By early 2021, Bitcoin surpassed $40,000, with the broader crypto market following suit.

The U.S. government’s direct stimulus checks became a defining feature of its economic response, mailing a $1,200 stimulus check to all American citizens to tide them over during the lockdown period. It’s worth noting that, should that money have been invested in Bitcoin in April 2020 instead of being spent, it would now be worth over $17,000, a gain of nearly 1,400%.

The dramatic rebound of the crypto market illustrates the volatility and opportunity that defined the pandemic era. As the White House doubles down on the lab leak theory, the economic and financial legacies of COVID-19, including the extraordinary rise of Bitcoin, continue to shape government policies and investor behavior.

SurR.Ai’s journey into the fusion of Surrealism and modern digital aesthetics can be traced back to an experimental project completed in July 2022. This series, titled “AB2TB” (From André Breton to Tim Burton), began as a creative and educational case study, exploring the possibilities of digital art and generative tools through a Surrealist lens. Inspired by Breton’s revolutionary ideals, his poem “Choose Life,” and Tim Burton’s whimsical, dark stylistic approach, the collection represented a unique homage to two visionary creators from different eras.

The “AB2TB” project bridged the seemingly contrasting worlds of Breton and Burton, translating them into animated digital collectibles. The piece shown here exemplifies SurR.Ai’s early explorations in crafting an otherworldly digital tapestry, combining Breton’s dreamlike surrealism with Burton’s eerie yet charming visual motifs. This piece, like many in the series, channels a kaleidoscope of strange yet familiar figures, interspersed with delicate, floating shapes and vibrant, prismatic colors that blur the line between fantasy and reality.

A Unique Style Born from Experimentation

Each work in the AB2TB series is not merely an aesthetic product but a narrative experiment—an educational endeavor aimed at refining the techniques of digital and video art creation. SurR.Ai used this series to master various AI tools, creating a dialogue between human intention and algorithmic randomness. The result is a vibrant synthesis where bold, angular characters wander through dreamlike landscapes, and geometric forms are juxtaposed with organic, sometimes grotesque elements. The darkly whimsical nature of the series is reminiscent of Tim Burton’s visual language, yet its structural unpredictability and psychological depth speak directly to Breton’s Surrealist vision.

Surrealism and the Influence of “Choose Life”

The early SurR.Ai collections were heavily influenced by André Breton’s poem “Choose Life”. This poetic manifesto, calling for creative liberation and the rejection of conventional boundaries, served as a guiding force for the project’s ethos. Breton’s vision of life as a fluid interplay between conscious choices and subconscious desires resonates deeply in these artworks. Each piece encapsulates the spirit of creative rebellion, translating Breton’s literary ideas into visual compositions filled with symbolic motifs that invite the viewer to explore the liminal space between reality and imagination.

AB2TB: Visual Narrative as an Art Form

The AB2TB series is a testament to SurR.Ai’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of digital art. The distinct visual style is characterized by a dreamlike layering of objects, characters, and abstract shapes, all set against ethereal backdrops that evoke distant worlds. The characters, dressed in theatrical costumes and often exaggerated in form, wander through surreal, glitchy environments, inviting the viewer into a narrative realm where the rules of physics and logic are suspended.

This visual approach highlights the influence of both Breton and Burton in unexpected ways: Breton’s call for exploring the subconscious is echoed in the fragmented, dreamlike imagery, while Burton’s stylistic trademarks – sharp contrasts, twisted forms, and a sense of haunting beauty- pervade the series. The result is a surreal hybrid that explores the unsettling yet captivating nature of dreams.

From Exploration to Mastery

The project culminated in a series of digital video artworks that mark the beginning of SurR.Ai’s evolution as a digital art innovator. This experimental phase was pivotal, serving as a foundation for more refined and complex works. By integrating AI tools into the creative process, SurR.Ai moved beyond the constraints of traditional media, using algorithmic unpredictability to echo the Surrealists’ technique of automatism, where spontaneous creation bypasses conscious control.
