How natural does the voice assistant on the S25 sound compared to Google Assistant?

Best answer: Both Bixby and Gemini let you choose from a selection of voices, but Samsung’s virtual assistant doesn’t sound as natural as Gemini. You can, however, create a custom voice for Bixby using your own voice, but it doesn’t sound as good as the preloaded voices for Gemini.

Does the voice assistant on the Galaxy S25 sound natural compared to Gemini?

It became clear with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series that Samsung is putting more of its focus on Gemini and less on Bixby. As a result, Gemini was the default voice assistant on the Galaxy S25, which users could activate by pressing and holding the power button. It’s not surprising that Samsung has put Bixby on the back burner.

One of the reasons why Bixby continues to feel behind is that the voice assistant constantly reminds you that you’re talking to AI. That’s because it doesn’t sound as natural as Google Assistant or Gemini. While you can choose between several voices, they all sound robotic, and conversations don’t flow as naturally.

On the other hand, Gemini also has multiple voices to choose from, and they all sound very realistic, as if you’re talking to an actual person. This makes it easier to have naturally flowing conversations without feeling like you’re talking to a computer. This is one of the perks of features like Gemini Live, which lets you have free-flowing conversations where you can interrupt the assistant in the middle of an answer, something I can’t do with Bixby.

One thing that Bixby has that Gemini doesn’t is the ability to use your own voice as an option for the assistant, which you set up by reading a number of prompts to it. This allows it to capture your vocal intricacies and inflections. It works decently well, but it still sounds tinny and robotic.

Still, I prefer using Gemini over Bixby, and the voice is one of the reasons why Google’s virtual assistant is generally better.

Canadian agricultural firm AgriFORCE Growing Systems Ltd. has launched an initiative to use stranded gas to power 120 Bitcoin mining rigs, which the company says it plans to expand.

The site, located in Berwyn, Alberta, and launched in partnership with energy provider BlueFlare Energy, draws in 425 kilowatts (kW) for 32 petahashes per second (PH/s) of computing power, AgriFORCE said on Tuesday. 

The site will use so-called stranded gas, natural gas that can’t be immediately taken to market as it’s either not economically viable to mine or can’t be physically reached by the equipment needed to extract it.

AgriFORCE also signed a binding letter of intent with BlueFlare to open two more sites in the Alberta region in Oyen and Hinton, which will replicate the model used at its Berwyn site.

“We don’t wait for permits or grid upgrades — we convert gas into compute in weeks, not years,” AgriFORCE CEO Jolie Kahn said.

AgriFORCE’s Bitcoin Strategy

AgriFORCE said it has already mined 7 Bitcoin (BTC), worth approximately $735,000, from its operations in Alberta and Ohio.

The Canadian firm could keep as much as half of the BTC it mines in its Bitcoin treasury, while the other half will be used for expanding its operations.

The firm said it could use up to 50% of the money it raises as capital to directly buy Bitcoin.

AgriFORCE stock reaction

Shares in AgriFORCE (AGRI) rose by 1.85% on Tuesday and ended the trading session at $1.10. However, AgriFORCE’s stock is down more than 53% year-to-date, according to Google Finance.

During the fiscal year ending 2024, AgriFORCE’s revenue saw an increase of 317% year-over-year, while its net profit increased more than 66% during the same period.

Renewable energy used for mining

With the cost of mining Bitcoin going up, miners will likely look at alternatives to keep their costs low.

A report from Bitcoin mining research firm TheMinerMag indicates that the cost to produce a single BTC stood at $64,000 in the first quarter of this year. The firm expects this cost to increase to $70,000 sometime during the quarter ending June 2025.

Earlier this year, a report highlighted that miners’ reliance on traditional coal-based sources of electricity is dwindling, while on the other hand, miners are increasingly adopting renewable energy, which is growing at an average rate of 5.8% yearly.

Owners of Meta’s smart glasses are in for an end-of-the-week treat as the company rolls in a patch full of additions.

Update v14.1 for the Ray-Ban Meta glasses was spotted by Android Central’s Nicholas Sutrich earlier today (Apr. 17). The update focuses on the smart glasses’ apps and AI software. To start, Meta states Ray-Ban is picking up the ability to “play music and shuffle by artist, albums, and playlists” via Spotify.

With this, users are receiving two important voice commands: “shuffle my (X) playlist” and “repeat this song.”

Each of these can be kick-started with “Hey Meta” once the patch is installed. Spotify is available for the Ray-Ban smart glasses for English users in the U.K., Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, and Norway. Meta is also expanding its “connected apps,” such as Apple Music and Shazam in conjunction with Spotify, to the previously listed regions.

Meta AI on the smart glasses can now interpret queries about weather, air quality, and the UV index via voice commands. The latest v14.1 patch for the Ray-Ban glasses includes a few AI updates, which can be seen below.

  • Updated Voices: Meta AI Voices have been updated to sound more natural and lifelike. Users can navigate to Meta AI Settings > Voice to select a voice for the software to use.
  • Meta AI expands to the U.K.: Users can learn about the history of landmarks while walking or get recipe suggestions based on the content in their home.

Ray-Ban on the Rise

Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses receive an update that brings Spotify and other music apps to more regions, with improvements to its AI.

Meta dropped the most futuristic AI update for the Ray-Ban smart glasses right before the holidays in December. The patch concerned Early Access program members, as the company delivered Live Record and Live Translate. The former allows the Ray-Ban glasses to record what you see and offer AI-powered insights without users needing to say “Hey Meta” aloud.

Members could also interrupt the AI or ask a follow-up question after it gives its response. Live Translate is pretty straightforward; users can hear or read the response of a person speaking another language via the glasses’ speaker or their phones.

More importantly, since launching in 2023, Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses seem to be a hit after having sold 2 million units since then. To celebrate, EssilorLuxottica announced that it’s looking to increase mass production of the device to 10 million units by 2026. Additionally, it seems both companies are betting big on these smart glasses. While Meta has already started a huge smart glasses push, even grabbing some top tanked celebrities to showcase it, there are rumors that the next generation will feature a built-in display.

The display might be tiny, but it would alleviate the need for users to reach for their phones or rely solely on the Ray-Ban speaker for info.
