What you need to know

  • At MWC Shanghai, Honor announced that the “world’s thinnest” foldable, the Magic V5, will launch on July 2 in China.
  • The device is said to bring the company’s intelligent AI software and rival Samsung’s Fold 7 as a “compelling alternative.”
  • Honor unveiled its major shift into AI at MWC in March, known as the “Alpha AI Plan,” for human-centric software.

Honor is preparing to turn some heads with its next foldable launch that claims it sits atop the thin hill.

In a press release, Honor announced during MWC Shanghai that its next-generation foldable, the Magic V5, is on deck for a launch on July 2 in China. The company says it plans for the Magic V5 to continue the legacies left behind by the V2 and V3 devices. As you might’ve guessed, Honor is staking its claim that the newest phone is the world’s thinnest (foldable) device.

In Honor’s keynote at the event, it stated that it has implemented a suite of AI technology features. As such, Honor says these features will drive the Magic V5’s capabilities up to near PC-like levels. More information on these features will likely surface a little closer to launch.

However, Honor is shying away from the market, as it looks at direct competition with Samsung.

The post calls out Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, labeling its upcoming Magic V5 as a “compelling alternative.” Honor says its foldable leans on “cutting-edge design aspects, performance, and portability.”

Human-centric AI

While we await the Magic V5, Honor’s recently started down its Alpha AI path, which saw the company invent ~$10 billion. During MWC in March, Honor announced Alpha AI Plan, a three-step strategy that highlights intelligent phones, AI ecosystem, and AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). Honor said it wants to facilitate devices with human-centric AI to maximize our potential.

The intelligent AI software Honor plans for its Magic V5 foldable likely leverages the company’s R&D with its Alpha AI Plan. Honor’s Magic series is also the first area it already foresaw as the origin for this intelligent AI future.

Additionally, the Magic V3 was 12.1mm when it launched in 2024, combating the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Honor says this next iteration will be the world’s thinnest yet, and we won’t have long to wait to see just how much thinner we go.

Magic Eden Onboards Avalanche Battle Pass for Web3 Gaming Rewards https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-eden-onboards-avalanche-battle-pass-for-web3-gaming-rewards/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-eden-onboards-avalanche-battle-pass-for-web3-gaming-rewards/#respond Thu, 19 Jun 2025 13:24:52 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-eden-onboards-avalanche-battle-pass-for-web3-gaming-rewards/

NFT marketplace Magic Eden, Ava Labs, the brain behind the layer-1 Avalanche blockchain, and the Web3 game developer Playfull have jointly launched an NFT collection to bolster Web3 gaming and bring NFT rewards to gamers. Dubbed the Avalanche Battle Pass Season 1, the collection

To ease the onboarding process, the game-themed collection can be minted for free via Magic Eden. However, those minting the tokens will pay a mint fee of 0.053 AVAX. Magic Eden’s website reveals that the AVAX-focused battle pass is an open edition collection. This implies that there is no limit to the number of collectibles a user can mint within the specified timeframe. The free mint will end on July 16th. Participants can join the ecosystem using basic or premium battle passes.

The Avalanche Battle Pass enables holders to earn rewards in NFTs and the blockchain’s native coin, AVAX, whenever they play games within the Avalanche ecosystem. These games include Off the Grid, Rumble Arcade, MapleStory, Shatterline, Spellborne, Warden’s Ascent, and BloodLoop. The battle pass tracks each player’s on-chain gaming performance across AVAX-supported games. The higher the completed activities, the more rewards participants receive. Users also receive rewards in the form of points for participating in Playfull activities, such as following their favorite games and minting collectibles.

Anyone who wishes to participate can do so by creating an account on avaxpass.playfull.com, connecting an external AVAX-supported Web3 wallet, and minting the pass. After which, they can complete in-game quests and qualify for rewards.

At the time of writing, as many as 4,052 battle passes have been minted by 2,604 holders. This indicates massive interest from gamers across the Avalanche ecosystem.

Avalanche is not new to the Web3 gaming ecosystem. Aside from renowned games like Off the Grid, the AVAX ecosystem has also welcomed Solo Leveling onto its bandwagon. This South Korean webtoon captured the attention of billions of people globally at the time.

Launching the Avalanche Battle Pass paves the way for more crypto natives and game lovers to join the Web3 gaming verse and harness the power of NFTs. The rate at which these game-centric collectibles have been embraced showcases the liveliness of the NFT gaming ecosystem.

Magic Eden's "Official Trump Wallet" Backfires After Trump Family Disavows Project https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-edens-official-trump-wallet-backfires-after-trump-family-disavows-project/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-edens-official-trump-wallet-backfires-after-trump-family-disavows-project/#respond Wed, 04 Jun 2025 11:24:53 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-edens-official-trump-wallet-backfires-after-trump-family-disavows-project/

Magic Eden’s rollout of an “Official $TRUMP Wallet” this week quickly became a flashpoint in the crypto world. Marketed as a flagship product for Trump supporters, the wallet promised a $1 million reward pool in $TRUMP tokens—until the Trump family slammed the brakes on the celebration.

The launch announcement, posted on Magic Eden’s official X account, claimed: “The Official $TRUMP Wallet is COMING SOON! The First and Only Crypto Wallet for True Trump Fans.” It directed users to sign up at trumpwallet.com for a chance to win a share of $1 million in token rewards.

And now? Confusion, community skepticism, and growing scrutiny over how the rollout occurred.

Trump Family Drops the Hammer

Almost immediately after the announcement, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. publicly disavowed the wallet. Eric issued a sharp warning:

“This project is not authorized by @Trump. @MagicEden I would be extremely careful using our name.”

(Tweet from June 3—link)

Barron Trump, in his first-ever post on X, chimed in:

“To be clear, our family has zero involvement with this wallet.”

(Posted June 3—link)

The Trump Organization, according to Donald Jr., is working on its own official crypto wallet through World Liberty Financial—which has no connection to the Magic Eden effort.

Community Backlash Against Magic Eden

Magic Eden CEO Jack Lu also promoted the rollout, describing it as part of a broader push to onboard mainstream users into crypto. In a June 3 tweet, he wrote: “The time to take big bets & onboard mainstream is now.”

While Magic Eden insists the wallet was built in partnership with the $TRUMP memecoin team, that explanation has not calmed the crypto community.

The backlash has turned a hyped launch into a reputational issue for Magic Eden. Users are seeking answers about how such a high-profile rollout occurred without public authorization from the Trump family.

Even the X account promoting the wallet, @TrumpWalletApp, has been suspended—adding to doubts about the legitimacy of the effort.

Trump’s Growing Role in Crypto

The Trump family has become increasingly active in crypto, launching NFT collections, promoting memecoins like $TRUMP, and backing a stablecoin through World Liberty Financial. They’ve also partnered on a bitcoin mining venture, pursued a Truth Social Bitcoin ETF, and pushed pro-crypto policies aimed at positioning the U.S. as a global blockchain leader.

What’s Next for Magic Eden?

As of this writing, neither Magic Eden, the $TRUMP token team, nor CEO Jack Lu has addressed the controversy. That silence is amplifying concerns and undermining trust in the project.

The crypto space—already wary of ambiguous branding and celebrity-linked ventures—has little patience for uncertainty.

As the dust settles, Magic Eden must reckon with the consequences of a high-profile launch gone wrong—and a crypto community demanding transparency.

Poof is Solana’s new magic trick for no-code prompt-based blockchain development https://earlybirdsinvest.com/poof-is-solanas-new-magic-trick-for-no-code-prompt-based-blockchain-development/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/poof-is-solanas-new-magic-trick-for-no-code-prompt-based-blockchain-development/#respond Fri, 16 May 2025 12:18:41 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/poof-is-solanas-new-magic-trick-for-no-code-prompt-based-blockchain-development/

Imagine writing a sentence and getting a live blockchain app in return – no code, no setup, no wallet drama. That’s the promise of Poof, a new open beta built on Solana that turns simple prompts into fully functioning on-chain applications in minutes.

Aimed at breaking down the barriers to Web3 development, Poof leverages AI and Solana’s ultra-fast infrastructure to make dApp creation feel as easy as chatting with ChatGPT.

From Prompt to Production

The core mechanic is disarmingly simple. Users enter a description of what they want, such as a token launchpad, a game, or a tipping-enabled chatroom, and Poof handles the rest. Within moments, a live on-chain app is generated and deployed to Solana, complete with smart contracts and a working front end.

This “prompt-to-dApp” approach makes blockchain development accessible to virtually anyone. Whether you’re a crypto-curious artist or a startup MVP builder, Poof removes the need to learn Solidity or navigate dev tooling. It’s the difference between imagining an app and actually shipping it.

Examples: Weird, Fun, and Fully Onchain

The kinds of apps being created during the beta range from whimsical experiments to clever, incentive-driven microservices:

  • Tipchat is a real-time chat room with built-in SOL tipping.
  • Flappy Bird Clone, reach a set score, and win SOL.
  • MiniBoop, launch your meme token and reward early adopters.

Each one is built directly on Solana, meaning they’re not just prototypes or simulations, but live, composable components in the Solana ecosystem.

Poof’s strategic potential

For Developers

Poof slashes the time and complexity of deploying smart contracts, opening the door for solo builders, tinkerers, and product designers who previously bounced off the steep blockchain learning curve. It’s a sandbox for rapid experimentation and viral app launches.

For Solana

This positions Solana as arguably the most user-friendly smart contract platform, with instant deployability that reinforces its reputation for speed and low fees. It could also supercharge composability, as Poof-created contracts plug into existing DeFi and NFT ecosystems.

For End Users

Users get more than apps, they get experiences. Apps like Tipchat and Flappy Bird aren’t just fun; they show how easy it is to create monetized interactions. By embedding SOL into simple games or interfaces, Poof gamifies blockchain creation itself.

The ChatGPT moment for dApps?

Poof echoes the rise of generative AI tools by enabling a similar interface: just say what you want. Much like ChatGPT turned everyone into a content creator, Poof could turn everyone into a Web3 builder. The barrier to entry isn’t lowered, it’s dissolved… almost.

This also sparks more profound questions. What happens when anyone can launch tokens or apps? Will it lead to a flood of spammy projects, or a renaissance of grassroots innovation? The answer may lie in how Poof handles moderation, transparency, and scalability.

Risks and realities

While the platform is promising, several open questions remain:

  • How does Poof prevent malicious content from being generated and shared before moderation?
  • Can developers export or fork their Poof-generated code?
  • What’s the long-term business model, fees, subscriptions, or tokenomics?
  • Is cross-chain support coming, or is Poof betting entirely on Solana?

While Poof enables near-instant deployment of blockchain applications, it makes clear that you alone are responsible for the legality, reliability, and safety of your dApp. That includes AI-generated outputs, smart contracts, tokenomics, and user interactions. Poof disclaims any control or endorsement of what you create, even on its own subdomains. It’s a powerful canvas, but you’re the painter, and the one liable if things go wrong.

Outputs generated by Poof’s AI systems, including code, game mechanics, or token logic, are provided “as-is.” There’s no guarantee they’ll work as expected or be free from bugs, biases, or vulnerabilities. And yes, you’ll burn credits even if your dApp fails to deploy or breaks on execution. In other words, experimentation has a cost, even when it feels like magic.

Poof emphasizes that apps involving scams, “rug pulls,” phishing, or other abusive behavior violate its terms and may be removed or blocked. It reserves the right to suspend access, even for paying users, if they violate policies or engage in risky behavior. Builders should be mindful that Poof is not an unmoderated playground; there are lines you can’t cross, and consequences if you do.

Closing thoughts

In a world of increasingly abstracted technology, Poof might be the most radical abstraction yet: turning intention directly into execution on the blockchain. If it delivers on its promise, Poof could reshape how we think about Web3 development.

We tried to build a simple CryptoSlate newsreader app using Poof, but unfortunately, we ran into some errors and couldn’t deploy the code within our time constraints.

Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app starting prompt
Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app starting prompt

The app started great with a simple, clean UI created in moments.

Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app UI
Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app UI

We were then prompted to change the theme. We chose ‘Matrix vibe,’ and again, Poof did not disappoint with a cool Matrix-style animation in the app header.

Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app themed UI
Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app themed UI

However, that’s about as far as we got. After asking Poof to integrate the CryptoSlate RSS feed, it informed us that API calls are not yet available. Then, when we gave it a sample of the RSS feed and later a simple list of recent articles, it stopped functioning and would no longer generate anything.

Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app API error
Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app API error

We repeatedly encountered a syntax error, which we could not bypass no matter how we prompted Poof.

Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app syntax error
Poof CryptoSlate newsreader app syntax error

We did try to simply publish the mockup UI and connect it to on-chain tipping as per the original plan, but that also failed. I’m going to assume that sending an entire RSS feed XML via the prompt text box is what borked the system so perhaps a character limit is needed on the user input field to avoid this in future.

It’s clearly an exciting example of AI’s ‘vibe coding’ and blockchain, and we’re still in the very early days of this sort of thing. The example apps look great, so we’ll chalk this one off to (over-eager) user error for now.

Want to try it? Just type a prompt at poof.new and see what happens.

CryptoSlate has no affiliation with Poof, and this article should not be considered an endorsement of the project. We used a newly created burner wallet for security purposes in our testing.

Immutable Powers Ubisoft’s New “Might & Magic: Fates” on iOS & Android https://earlybirdsinvest.com/immutable-powers-ubisofts-new-might-magic-fates-on-ios-android/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/immutable-powers-ubisofts-new-might-magic-fates-on-ios-android/#respond Thu, 24 Apr 2025 18:23:38 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/immutable-powers-ubisofts-new-might-magic-fates-on-ios-android/

Ubisoft is revisiting its classic Might & Magic franchise—this time with a blockchain twist. The famed publisher behind Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry has teamed up with Immutable, a leading Web3 gaming platform, to introduce Might & Magic: Fates, an original strategy card game.

The new title, slated for release on iOS and Android, aims to honor the franchise’s 40-year legacy while integrating optional blockchain-based digital ownership and trading elements.

Modern Card Strategy Meets Blockchain

Fates blend the classic strategic essence of Might & Magic with fresh mechanics designed for mobile play. Players can assemble and customize decks from hundreds of collectible cards, each featuring iconic creatures, heroes, and spells. The game will also include faction-based playstyles, allowing players to build decks around distinct themes and mechanics. Each faction offers unique synergies to encourage diverse tactical approaches.

Ubisoft and Immutable promise a skill-based experience, emphasizing that a player’s tactical prowess—not sheer luck or spending power—will determine victory.

Leveraging Immutable’s technology, Fates will introduce new forms of digital ownership, such as cards minted as NFTs that can be traded outside the game’s ecosystem. However, Ubisoft has stated that this feature is optional and does not provide gameplay advantages, aiming to preserve balance and accessibility.

Immutable has experience backing popular blockchain titles like Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, which feature player-owned assets. Gods Unchained has notably benefited from Immutable’s gas-free layer-2 solution, with plans to transition to Immutable zkEVM for additional functionality.

According to Immutable, the AAA partnership with Ubisoft was first revealed two years ago and has now led to this major announcement. Backed by millions in investment and developed by a team of Ubisoft veterans, Fates is designed to be “free-to-play” and easily accessible through mobile devices worldwide.

Champions Tactics: Reforged Sees Season 3 Update

Meanwhile, Ubisoft has also been updating its Web3-inspired tactical strategy game, Champions Tactics: Reforged. Recently entering Season 3, the game added new content and competitive challenges, setting the stage for a broader audience as it prepares for its launch on Steam.

However, Champions Tactics faced setbacks during an opening weekend bug that led to just two players winning every matchmade game. The issue branded the game “unplayable,” although Ubisoft has since addressed the glitch and continued rolling out seasonal content. Season 3 offers further narrative developments in the fantasy world of Grimoria while refining PvP battles to focus on strategy rather than luck.

A Broader Push into Web3

Ubisoft’s latest move into blockchain gaming shows they’re still exploring new frontiers—but it’s not their first time testing these waters, and past efforts haven’t exactly won everyone over.

Earlier ventures, like the Quartz platform and NFT integration in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, drew criticism from players. Many felt those features didn’t add much to the actual gameplay and raised concerns about their environmental impact.

This time, though, Ubisoft appears to be taking a different approach. By teaming up with Immutable and leaning on proven blockchain tech, they’re aiming to offer something more thoughtful—something that blends innovation with accessibility.

If it all comes together, Fates could become a model for how game studios can explore Web3 without losing sight of what makes games great in the first place.

What is Might & Magic Fates?

Might & Magic Fates is a trading card game and is a new instalment in the Might & Magic franchise, a series that dates back to the 1980s and includes both role-playing games and strategy spin-offs.

Over the past four decades, the franchise has cultivated a loyal global fanbase and is widely regarded as one of the longest-running IPs in gaming history. The new title draws from the Might & Magic franchise’s factions, creatures, and characters, combining them into a competitive, deck-building experience.

Might & Magic Fates is primarily free-to-play with optional web3 features available for players who want it. According to the official site, players will be able to trade cards via the Immutable blockchain, though this has no impact on gameplay or competitive balance. The core experience will remain fully accessible without interacting with any blockchain elements.

What’s next for Might & Magic Fates?

Immutable co-founder Robbie Ferguson described the collaboration as the “outcome of our biggest partnership yet,” and hinted that Fates is just the first step in a larger multi-stage rollout.

He also cited “millions in funding” and the reach of Ubisoft Connect as key ingredients for the game’s anticipated success. In Ferguson’s own words, Immutable is “not stopping until Immutable games are played by 1B+ people worldwide.”

Ubisoft and Immutable have confirmed that Might & Magic Fates is scheduled to launch later this year, with further details to be shared in the coming months. These will include more information about the game’s mechanics, its approach to lore, and the broader vision behind the project.

As development continues, the team encourages interested players to join the official Discord community and follow updates on X.

Ubisoft is breathing new life into its long-running fantasy franchise with the announcement of Might & Magic: Fates, a strategy card game developed in collaboration with Web3 gaming platform Immutable.

The new title aims to modernize the Might & Magic universe for mobile audiences while integrating digital asset ownership through blockchain technology, according to an April 23 joint statement.

Set for release on iOS and Android, Might & Magic: Fates invites players into a tactical world built around customizable decks, iconic fantasy creatures, and faction-based mechanics.

The game will allow players to collect, trade, and strategize with hundreds of cards, offering rewards based on in-game progression and skill.

Ubisoft, known for major franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, emphasized the importance of staying true to the franchise’s roots while embracing new formats.

The title continues Ubisoft’s exploration of digital ownership and blockchain utility in gaming, a space the company has gradually entered over recent years through its Strategic Innovation Lab. Might & Magic: Fates is positioned as a franchise milestone, using modern tools to reach the next generation of players.

Nicolas Pouard, Vice President of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab, said:

“This game will deliver a deep and rewarding experience for both long-time fans and new players alike.”

Immutable, the studio behind Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, is providing the underlying blockchain infrastructure. Through its technology, players will be able to securely own and trade in-game assets without compromising gameplay speed or accessibility.

Immutable Chief Studio Officer Justin Hulog said:

“Ubisoft’s vision for Might & Magic: Fates aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance game ownership and player engagement. This collaboration pushes the boundaries of what AAA franchises can achieve in the Web3 space.”

The launch is seen as a milestone in the fusion of traditional gaming and blockchain innovation. While Ubisoft brings decades of storytelling and strategic design, Immutable adds blockchain fluency and a track record of successful Web3 games.

Additional gameplay footage and pre-registration details will be revealed in the coming months. The companies are scheduled to unveil more at a joint appearance on May 1.

Magic Eden Acquires Slingshot to Expand Beyond NFTs https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-eden-acquires-slingshot-to-expand-beyond-nfts/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-eden-acquires-slingshot-to-expand-beyond-nfts/#respond Mon, 14 Apr 2025 12:32:33 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/magic-eden-acquires-slingshot-to-expand-beyond-nfts/

Popular NFT marketplace Magic Eden has acquired crypto trading app Slingshot in a move that signals a strategic shift beyond digital collectibles. The acquisition will give Magic Eden users direct access to over five million tokens across more than ten blockchains—without the need for bridges or centralised exchanges.

Slingshot will continue to operate as a standalone app for now, but further integration with Magic Eden is expected. No immediate changes to the user experience have been announced, though support for Bitcoin-native tokens is reportedly on the horizon.

Magic Eden’s leadership indicated the move is part of a longer-term effort to simplify crypto trading across networks and asset types.

What is Slingshot?

Slingshot is a decentralised crypto trading application that enables users to swap tokens across multiple blockchains without needing to bridge assets or rely on centralised platforms.

The app supports trading across more than ten blockchain networks using a single USDC balance, offering access to millions of tokens. With an estimated user base approaching one million, Slingshot has gained recognition for its emphasis on ease of use and multi-chain functionality.

It has aimed to streamline token discovery and trading by removing common friction points, such as network switching and gas fee management.

What does this acquisition mean for Magic Eden?

For Magic Eden, the acquisition of Slingshot represents a step away from its original focus as an NFT-only platform. Whilst it will continue to support NFT trading, the company appears to be repositioning itself as a more comprehensive web3 trading hub.

“This acquisition is a major step forward in advancing the Magic Eden vision, which is to provide users worldwide with a seamless and safe way to buy and sell crypto and digital assets across all chains,” said Jack Lu, CEO and Co-Founder of Magic Eden.

By integrating token trading into its ecosystem, Magic Eden is likely to broaden its appeal to a wider segment of crypto users—particularly those seeking a unified interface for both NFTs and fungible tokens.  Although the platforms will operate independently for now, the long-term plan appears to involve closer technical and product alignment.

Magic Eden is acquiring crypto trading app Slingshot to expand beyond NFTs and challenge centralized exchanges (CEX) with a fully on-chain trading experience, according to an April 9 press release.

The acquisition marks a shift for Magic Eden, which built its name as a leading digital asset and NFT marketplace. Now, the company is aiming to become what it calls “the most extensive and all-encompassing trading platform in crypto.”

Slingshot has attracted nearly 1 million users with its mobile-first interface, which simplifies cross-chain trading. The app eliminates the need for bridging, typically a cumbersome and risky process, by enabling token swaps across more than 10 blockchains with instant listings.

Magic Eden CEO and co-founder Jack Lu said:

“This acquisition is a major step forward in advancing the Magic Eden vision, which is to provide users worldwide with a seamless and safe way to buy and sell crypto and digital assets across all chains.”

The deal comes as the crypto industry, now valued at $2.5 trillion, continues to shift toward decentralized infrastructure, spurred by growing concerns over transparency, security, and user control.

While centralized exchanges have dominated the space, critics argue they contradict the core principles of crypto and often create single points of failure.

Slingshot has gained traction in recent weeks because it is among the only platforms to list every token across multiple chains in real-time. It also aims to appeal to newcomers by allowing signups with just an email and supporting payments through Apple Pay, Venmo, PayPal, and credit or debit cards.

The companies plan to integrate Slingshot’s tools into Magic Eden’s platform, which will support over 5 million tokens and offer upcoming access to Bitcoin-native tokens. The combined effort signals a growing push within the industry to offer alternatives to centralized giants by giving users more control over their assets without sacrificing convenience or speed.
