The source code for version 3 of the ERMAC Android banking trojan has been leaked online, exposing the internals of the malware-as-a-service platform and the operator’s infrastructure.

The code base was discovered in an open directory by Hunt.io researchers while scanning for exposed resources in March 2024.

They located an archive named Ermac 3.0.zip, which contained the malware’s code, including backend, frontend (panel), exfiltration server, deployment configurations, and the trojan’s builder and obfuscator.

The researchers analyzed the code, finding that it significantly expanded the targeting capabilities compared to previous versions, with more than 700 banking, shopping, and cryptocurrency apps.

ERMAC was first documented in September 2021  by ThreatFabric – a provider of online payment fraud solutions and intelligence for the financial services sector, as an evolution of the Cerberus banking trojan operated by a threat actor known as ‘BlackRock.’

ERMAC v2.0 was spotted by ESET in May 2022, rented to cybercriminals for a monthly fee of $5,000, and targeting 467 apps, up from 378 in the previous version.

In January 2023, ThreatFabric observed BlackRock promoting a new Android malware tool named Hook, which appeared to be an evolution of ERMAC.

ERMAC v3.0 capabilities

Hunt.io found and analyzed ERMAC’s PHP command-and-control (C2) backend, React front-end panel, Go-based exfiltration server, Kotlin backdoor, and the builder panel for generating custom trojanized APKs.

According to the researchers, ERMAC v3.0 now targets sensitive user information in more than 700 apps.

Additionally, the latest version expands on previously documented form-injection techniques, uses AES-CBC for encrypted communications, features an overhauled operator panel, and enhances data theft and device control.

Specifically, Hunt.io has documented the following capabilities for the latest ERMAC release:

• Theft of SMS, contacts, and registered accounts
• Extraction of Gmail subjects and messages
• File access via ‘list’ and ‘download’ commands
• SMS sending and call forwarding for communication abuse
• Photo capturing via the front camera
• Full app management (launch, uninstall, clear cache)
• Displaying fake push notifications for deception
• Uninstalls remotely (killme) for evasion

Infrastructure exposed

Hunt.io analysts used SQL queries to identify live, exposed infrastructure currently used by the threat actors, identifying C2 endpoints, panels, exfiltration servers, and builder deployments.

Apart from exposing the malware’s source code, the ERMAC operators had several other major opsec failures, including hardcoded JWT tokens, default root credentials, and no registration protections on the admin panel, allowing anyone to access, manipulate, or disrupt ERMAC panels.

Finally, the panel names, headers, package names, and various other operational fingerprints left little doubt about attribution and made discovery and mapping of the infrastructure a lot easier.

The ERMAC V3.0 source code leak weakens the malware operation, first by eroding customer trust in the MaaS in its ability to protect information from law enforcement or allow running campaigns with low detection risk.

Threat detection solutions are also likely to get better at spotting ERMAC. However, if the source code falls into the hands of other threat actors, it is possible to observe in the future modified variants of ERMAC that are more difficult to detect.

While we have heard little to nothing about the rumored Pixel Buds 2a, things seem to be ramping up as we close in to the Made by Google event, slated to take place next month. The most recent rumor gives us official looking renders of the budget Pixel Buds, in the Iris colorway, similar to the Pixel 9a.

Android Headlines also notes that these buds could be a follow up to the original Pixel Buds A -Series. Reliable leaker Arsène Lupin posted some details on X, and they suggest that Google may be mixing things up with Pixel Buds’ 2a colors. As it these Buds may also show up three other colors: Strawberry, Fog Light, and Hazel.

That said, the renders show the Pixel Buds 2a inside the signature oval case, however it looks like the insides of the case could also get a splash of color to match the Buds placed in them. If you look closer at the renders, you can notice that they have new microphone cutouts, suggesting that Google could finally bring ANC to these buds, a step up from its predecessor.

In terms of design, the renders show that these buds will stick to its predecessors’ overall look, showcasing in-ear rounded buds, without a steam, placed in an oval charging case. However, Google could make some minor changes to its design so that it better fits the user’s ear.

As for the Pixel Buds 2a’s battery life, the website notes that it could get a boost when compared to the original budget earbuds, and it might also come with enhanced sound quality. While there’s not much information on pricing, Google might sell these new earbuds in line with its budget offering, but since it could have ANC, and other new features, they might slightly up the price a bit.

The Pixel Buds 2a aren’t the only earbuds that could show up at this year’s Made by Google. The other leaks claim that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will also see two new colorways: Moonstone and Sterling. Evan Blass doubled down on the Buds Pro 2 rumors, posting what looks like official marketing images of these earbuds on X this week.

That said, it is important to bear in mind that these are still leaks, and not all features that show up in leaks make it to the product itself. However, the wait isn’t for much long as Google is set to reveal its next flagship series on August 20, and we expect that the Pixel Buds 2a and Buds 2 Pro could be revealed during the same event.

Samsung’s next Ultra phone might not look like a radical departure based on current leaks so far, but the Galaxy S26 Ultra is shaping up to be a surprisingly refined beast under the hood.

According to a fresh scoop from @UniverseIce on X, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is set to slim down the hardware ever so slightly. The leaker says the Galaxy S26 Ultra is coming in at under 7mm thick versus the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 8.2mm.

It’s also shedding a bit of weight compared to the S25 Ultra, aiming to be one of the thinnest and lightest flagship Android phones out there. The screen size isn’t changing, but the body might get a touch taller and wider.

But what really stands out is the bump in charging speed. After sticking to 45W for years, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to jump to 60W fast charging. If this holds up, it’ll be the fastest charging speed ever on a Galaxy flagship, and finally, something to match the pace set by rivals in China.

Same battery, new muscle

That said, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely sticking with a 5,000mAh battery. Under the hood, it’s expected to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, though Samsung is also said to be testing its own Exynos 2600 as a possible option.

Even with all the potential upgrades inside, the outside is staying familiar. The S26 Ultra is tipped to keep the same sharp corners, flat edges, and bold quad-camera layout on the back.

Furthermore, the tipster says the S26 Ultra’s screen is getting an upgrade with new anti-reflective glass and something called CoE depolarizer tech. Not much is known about the CoE part yet, but the glass should cut glare and make the screen look brighter and sharper, especially in bright light.

Camera tweaks, not a revolution

For the cameras, the S26 Ultra is said to use Samsung’s newer ISOCELL HP2 (2026) sensor with a larger aperture for better light capture. It’s also expected to pack updated 3x telephoto and 5x periscope lenses, both with wider apertures too.

More Galaxy Z Fold 7 leak and hands-on

As mentioned, with the launch less than a week away, the information surfacing about the foldables is making more sense and is increasing anticipation. More recently, someone even had their hands on the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 7 in its product packaging.

While the alleged Z Fold 7 looked familiar, a major change appeared in the colorway and a new approach to the three camera lenses at the back. The shiny blue looks interesting, and the camera lenses, according to the leaked images, are dropping the good-old black rings in favor of shiny silver rings. Overall, the alleged Z Fold 7, as rumored, appeared thinner than the previous iteration.

All in all, we can’t wait to see how the upcoming foldable phones are going to officially look, and Samsung might be aiming for the masses with the launch of an even more affordable flip phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

These phones could show up with some notable differences when compared to their predecessors, according to Android Headlines.

As for the phone’s camera, both models are not expected to receive any major camera changes, with the same 50MP primary sensor, 48MP ultrawide lens, 48MP telephoto lens, and a 42MP selfie camera. However, despite similar lenses, the devices are expected to capture higher-quality images, as the website alleges, because the telephoto and ultrawide cameras could see higher apertures, which would allow for brighter and more detailed macro photos.

Google might change things up with the phone’s storage, the leak suggests that the Pixel 10 Pro will sport 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL will skip the 128GB model, and offer 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB — signaling Google’s move to offer a premium experience on the XL variant.

Earlier rumors suggest that these phones will show up in four colorways: Obsidian, Green, Sterling (Grey), and Porcelain (White).

However, these are still leaks, and it remains unclear if these specs will show up on the actual device. That said, if Google is following suit of what it did last year, then the launch of its new flagship could take place in August.
