Will Smith has answered recent claims about possible artificial intelligence (AI) use in one of his concert videos by turning the situation into a joke.

In an Instagram post on August 30, Smith shared footage from a performance with the caption, “Crowd was poppin’ tonite!!”

The video cuts from Smith onstage to a view of the audience, where every person’s head has been replaced with an AI-generated cat face.

The clip drew comments, with most users taking a lighthearted view. One joked, “Haters are gonna say this is AI”, while another said they enjoyed how Smith handled the criticism.

The post follows backlash around a different video shared on Smith’s YouTube channel. Titled My favorite part of tour is seeing you all up close. Thank you for seeing me too, the video showed scenes of enthusiastic fans, including people crying and holding signs.

However, some viewers noticed unusual visual features. A few audience members had faces with blurred or oddly shaped features, and certain hands appeared misshapen, in some cases with six fingers visible.

In one shot, the fingers of a man holding a sign appeared blurred along with the message itself, which read, “You Can Make It’ helped me survive cancer. THX Will”.

Taco Bell has recently reconsidered its use of voice AI in its drive-thrus. What happened? Read the full story.

Instagram Hack Fuels Chaos for Kanye West’s YZY Meme Coin Launch https://earlybirdsinvest.com/instagram-hack-fuels-chaos-for-kanye-wests-yzy-meme-coin-launch/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/instagram-hack-fuels-chaos-for-kanye-wests-yzy-meme-coin-launch/#respond Thu, 28 Aug 2025 07:37:05 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/instagram-hack-fuels-chaos-for-kanye-wests-yzy-meme-coin-launch/

Kanye West’s newly launched YZY meme coin on Solana
SOL

$210.10

has lost over four-fifths of its value just a week after its release.

The price drop comes as West claims his Instagram account was compromised and used to follow and promote a fake version of the token.

On August 26, West posted on X that his Instagram had been hacked. He added a link to the official YZY token’s X account and shared its correct Solana contract address, which ends in “YEEZY”.

At the time, his Instagram account, followed by nearly 20 million people, was only following two other accounts: one belonging to his partner Bianca Censori, and another named “yzytoken”.

The “yzytoken” profile was promoting a different version of the YZY token, which had launched on Solana’s Pump.fun platform that same day. Its bio included two contract addresses, one linked to the fake token and the other to West’s official token.

A QR code post with cryptic text (“Restart now? (y/n): ‘) == ‘y.’”) appeared on the page as well.

Just the act of Kanye’s account following the impostor page was enough to push the fake token’s market cap to around $7 million at its peak. However, that value later dropped to around $160,000.

Kanye’s Instagram account no longer followed the “yzytoken” page as of 2:18 PM ET.

Bubblemaps, a blockchain analytics company, recently reported that Hayden Davis was tied to wallets that generated around $12 million in YZY trades. How did that happen? Read the full story.

Migos Instagram account hacked in apparent blackmail bid on Solana co-founder https://earlybirdsinvest.com/migos-instagram-account-hacked-in-apparent-blackmail-bid-on-solana-co-founder/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/migos-instagram-account-hacked-in-apparent-blackmail-bid-on-solana-co-founder/#respond Tue, 27 May 2025 05:18:20 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/migos-instagram-account-hacked-in-apparent-blackmail-bid-on-solana-co-founder/

The Instagram account of former US rap trio Migos was hacked in an apparent attempt to blackmail Solana co-founder Raj Gokal.

On May 27, Migos’ Instagram account posted at least seven images seen by Cointelegraph, which have since been deleted. Two of the images appeared to depict Gokal holding up his passport and driver’s license, clearly showing the full details of each document.

The account’s hacker tagged Gokal in one of the images that apparently showed him with the caption “you should’ve paid the 40 btc,” while another image depicting Gokal said “it was only 40 btc.. should’ve paid.”

Another image posted by the account hacker shows what the caption claimed was Gokal’s wife holding up a driver’s license, while a further two images appear to be a dump of private information, including mobile phone numbers and email addresses.

The type of photos posted, where a person holds personal identifying documents in clear view of the camera with their face visible, are commonly used by crypto exchanges in Know Your Customer checks.

However, it is unknown where the photos seemingly depicting Gokal and his wife originated and how they ended up being used in the apparent blackmail attempt.

The Solana Foundation and Gokal were contacted for comment.

Gokal had posted to X on May 20 that attackers had “been trying to take control” of his email and social media accounts, warning his followers to be suspicious of any out-of-the-ordinary posts.

‘Epidemic of Scams’ Flooding Instagram and Facebook Affecting Many Different Industries, Says Meta: Report https://earlybirdsinvest.com/epidemic-of-scams-flooding-instagram-and-facebook-affecting-many-different-industries-says-meta-report/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/epidemic-of-scams-flooding-instagram-and-facebook-affecting-many-different-industries-says-meta-report/#respond Sun, 18 May 2025 12:22:27 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/epidemic-of-scams-flooding-instagram-and-facebook-affecting-many-different-industries-says-meta-report/

Meta executives are reportedly acknowledging a serious new problem with scams affecting its social media platforms.

A spokesperson for Meta, the parent company of social media behemoths Instagram and Facebook, tells the Wall Street Journal that the corporate giant is dealing with “an epidemic of scams” that has been growing exponentially in recent years, both in scale and sophistication.

“As this scam activity has become more persistent and sophisticated, so have our efforts.”

The spokesperson reveals that Meta is experimenting with facial-recognition technology while also forming partnerships with banks and tech firms since the scams are affecting so many industries and “different parts of society.”

Citing people familiar with the matter, WSJ also reports that JPMorgan Chase has raised concerns with Meta about its policing – or lack thereof – of scams.

Meta accounted for nearly half of all reported scams on Zelle for JPMorgan Chase customers between the summers of 2023 and 2024, according to a WSJ source. JPMorgan also recently began blocking certain Zelle payments and warning users about transactions originating from social media platforms like Meta.

The person said that the number of scams linked to Meta has shown improvement in recent months.

However, documents seen by WSJ reportedly show that Meta has recently deprioritized enforcing scams, avoiding takedowns of erroneous advertisements because of supposed safety concerns, while also cutting costs and moving resources to other departments.

WSJ interviewed Edgar Guzman, the owner of a home improvement supplies and garden equipment company in Atlanta, who said scams are relentlessly targeting his customers, prompting them to make payments for products that never arrive.

Says Guzman,

“What sucks is we have to break it to people that they’ve been scammed – we don’t even do online sales… We keep reporting pages to Meta, but nothing ever happens.”

AI Tool Helps Biker Catch Gurugram Attackers via Instagram https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ai-tool-helps-biker-catch-gurugram-attackers-via-instagram/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ai-tool-helps-biker-catch-gurugram-attackers-via-instagram/#respond Tue, 22 Apr 2025 23:16:53 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ai-tool-helps-biker-catch-gurugram-attackers-via-instagram/

An artificial intelligence (AI) tool helped a Gurugram biker trace the men who assaulted him and his group before the police were able to identify them.

According to a report from NDTV, a group of men, believed to be drunk, stopped Hardik Sharma and ten others on the Dwarka Expressway and began hitting them and damaging their motorcycles.

Sharma said he rode away but returned on foot when he realized a friend might have been left behind. By the time he got back, that friend had already left, and one of the men had taken hold of Sharma’s motorcycle.

He mentioned that the attackers warned him not to record videos. “They also said that they will shoot me if I shoot their videos”, Sharma said.

He added that registering a police report was another challenge. Sharma had to visit several police stations before his complaint was accepted. It took about 12 hours for the FIR to be filed.

Frustrated by the delay, Sharma decided to use AI tools that analyze photos and videos to trace the attackers. “We use some paid AIs on which if you upload photos or videos, it can lead you to the social media of the person in them if they have a public profile”, he explained.

He also shared the gym where the men were believed to work out, along with other related media, with the police.

Meanwhile, the UK Ministry of Justice has recently been developing an AI tool to predict violent crimes. How does it work? Read the full story.
