California Governor Gavin Newsom is taking a new route to push back against President Donald Trump’s association with cryptocurrency.

During an August 29 appearance on the Pivot podcast, Newsom shared that his team is working on launching a meme coin called the “Trump Corruption Coin”.

Rather than use the coin to promote himself, Newsom emphasized that its name is meant to keep attention on President Trump’s controversies. When asked whether the token would be branded after him, Newsom said, “No, it’s Trump Corruption Coin”.

Newsom also explained that the crypto project is part of his “Campaign for Democracy”. Funds raised through the token would be used to support voter engagement efforts and help with redistricting.

According to the governor, these areas are often underfunded but crucial for strengthening democratic participation.

In the interview, Newsom did not shy away from aiming for President Trump’s influence. He said the coin was designed to highlight the exaggerated and misleading aspects of President Trump’s public image. He said:

We’re just trying to turn up the heat and tune people into the absurdity.

On August 25, Newsom’s press office account on X has been posting messages in President Trump’s trademark all-caps format.

One post read, “EXCEPT WHAT IS WRITTEN AND BROADCAST IN THE FAKE NEWS, I NOW HAVE THE HIGHEST POLL NUMBERS I’VE EVER HAD, SOME IN THE 60’S AND EVEN 70’S. THANK YOU. MAKE AMERICA GAVIN AGAIN!!! — GCN”.

“Nano-Banana” Revealed: Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Image Arrives https://earlybirdsinvest.com/nano-banana-revealed-googles-gemini-2-5-flash-image-arrives/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/nano-banana-revealed-googles-gemini-2-5-flash-image-arrives/#respond Thu, 28 Aug 2025 03:16:29 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/nano-banana-revealed-googles-gemini-2-5-flash-image-arrives/

Google has introduced a new image-focused model called Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, designed to produce and refine visuals through simple text commands.

The update was officially released on August 26 and is already live across all Gemini interfaces.

With this rollout, users can perform detailed edits, such as adjusting a person’s stance or combining different visuals, without altering key details like facial features or background elements.

Before its official reveal, the tool had surfaced on LMArena, a site where the public can test experimental artificial intelligence (AI) models. Known by that name under the alias “nano-banana”, the model gained attention for its smooth and reliable editing.

One of the standout features is its ability to keep a consistent appearance for a subject across multiple images. This can be useful in fields like advertising, where a product or character needs to appear the same in different scenes.

The model can also pull from multiple reference visuals and understand diagrams, which allows it to create accurate visuals based on a mix of sources.

To help prevent misuse, all images generated by the model carry an invisible SynthID signature, along with metadata that identifies them as AI-generated.

Gemini 2.5 Flash Image is available not only within Google’s platform but also through OpenRouter and fal.ai. It is also integrated into Google Cloud’s service offering, with a cost of $30 for every million output tokens, which translates to around $0.04 per image.

On August 13, Google rolled out an update to Gemini AI. What’s new in this version? Read the full story.

RTFKT NFTs Disappear After Cloudflare Glitch Disrupts Image Hosting https://earlybirdsinvest.com/rtfkt-nfts-disappear-after-cloudflare-glitch-disrupts-image-hosting/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/rtfkt-nfts-disappear-after-cloudflare-glitch-disrupts-image-hosting/#respond Fri, 25 Apr 2025 16:13:15 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/rtfkt-nfts-disappear-after-cloudflare-glitch-disrupts-image-hosting/

Images tied to the popular Ethereum NFT collections Clone X and Animus temporarily disappeared on April 24, leaving collectors with blank screens and a notice about a terms of service violation.

The glitch follows the closure of RTFKT, the digital studio behind the collections, which was shut down by Nike in December 2024. Whilst ownership and metadata remained secure on the blockchain, the visual assets linked to the tokens became temporarily inaccessible due to a third-party hosting problem.

RTFKT’s former Head of Technology, Samuel Cardillo, has since confirmed efforts are underway to prevent similar disruptions in the future.

Why did the NFTs disappear?

The images for RTFKT’s Clone X and Animus collections disappeared after Cloudflare downgraded the account responsible for serving the files. The downgrade, which Cardillo said happened a few days before the paid contract was due to expire, resulted in restrictions being applied to the content.

Instead of displaying NFT images, holders saw a generic black screen with a message indicating that the content had been restricted for violating Cloudflare’s terms of service. This occurred because the files were not stored directly on the Ethereum blockchain, but rather hosted off-chain and delivered through Cloudflare’s services.

Whilst the NFTs themselves were unaffected—the tokens, metadata, and ownership records remained on-chain—the incident highlighted the risks of relying on centralised hosting to display NFT content.

What’s next for RTFKT?

Although RTFKT as a company was closed by Nike in late 2024, its collections continue to exist and circulate in the secondary market. To safeguard the media assets associated with those collections, Cardillo announced a migration to Arweave, a decentralised storage network that allows users to store files permanently.

Using AR Drive, a tool built to interface with Arweave, the team plans to move approximately 200GB of image data by the end of April. This transition aims to eliminate reliance on services like Cloudflare and ensure that holders can continue to view their NFTs regardless of third-party service interruptions.

The storage move is estimated to cost around $2,800 and is intended to provide a more reliable solution for long-term access to the digital files linked to RTFKT’s NFTs.

OpenAI tests watermarking for ChatGPT-4o Image Generation model https://earlybirdsinvest.com/openai-tests-watermarking-for-chatgpt-4o-image-generation-model/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/openai-tests-watermarking-for-chatgpt-4o-image-generation-model/#respond Sun, 06 Apr 2025 16:52:51 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/openai-tests-watermarking-for-chatgpt-4o-image-generation-model/

ChatGPT

OpenAI is reportedly testing a new “watermark” for the Image Generation model, which is a part of the ChatGPT 4o model.

This is an interesting move, and it’s likely because more and more users are generating Studio Ghibli artwork using the ImageGen model.

In fact, ChatGPT is in the news largely due to the Image Generation model, which is the most advanced multi-model shipped to date.

Not only can it accurately generate images with texts, but it also allows you to create realistic visuals, such as art produced by Studio Ghibli, a famous and big name in the Japanese studio world.

ChatGPT’s ImageGen model was previously limited to paid users (ChatGPT Plus customers), but it has now rolled out to everyone, including those with a free subscription.

As spotted by AI researcher Tibor Blaho, it looks like OpenAI is working on a new “ImageGen” watermark for free users.

My sources also told me that OpenAI recently started testing watermarks for images generated using ChatGPT’s free account.

If you subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, you’ll be able to save images without the watermark.

However, it’s unclear if OpenAI will move ahead with its plans to watermark images. Plans at OpenAI are always subject to change.

ImageGen is a powerful model, API coming soon

In a blog post, OpenAI previously noted that it trained the model on a large set of images and texts, which is why the image generation is not only beautiful but useful.

“We trained our models on the joint distribution of online images and text, learning not just how images relate to language, but how they relate to each other,” OpenAI noted.

“Combined with aggressive post-training, the resulting model has surprising visual fluency, capable of generating images that are useful, consistent, and context-aware.”

OpenAI has also confirmed that it’s working on an ImageGen API, so developers can build their own products.

Ghibli-Inspired Image Trend Prompts OpenAI to Set Limits https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ghibli-inspired-image-trend-prompts-openai-to-set-limits/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ghibli-inspired-image-trend-prompts-openai-to-set-limits/#respond Sun, 30 Mar 2025 01:50:40 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/ghibli-inspired-image-trend-prompts-openai-to-set-limits/

A recent trend on social media, where users created Studio Ghibli-style images using ChatGPT 4o, led to a surge in demand that forced OpenAI to take action.

To manage the heavy traffic, the company placed rate limits on how many images users can generate.

On March 25, OpenAI added an image generator to ChatGPT 4o. Within hours, people began sharing their results, especially drawings that resembled the animation style seen in Ghibli films.

Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, joined in on the trend by posting an artificial intelligence (AI) made portrait of himself. Elon Musk also posted an image that showed a Shiba Inu being held up like a scene from The Lion King.

However, the trend, also called “Ghiblification”, put pressure on OpenAI’s systems.

Altman explained that the system was struggling to keep up with the volume of requests. “Our GPUs are melting”, he wrote, adding that they were introducing rate limits to keep things running while working on improvements.

OpenAI did not say exactly how long these restrictions would stay in place. However, Altman mentioned that users on the free tier of ChatGPT would be limited to three image generations per day.

The company explained that rate limits help keep the system stable when a large number of people use it at once. Without limits, the servers could slow down or become unreliable.
