OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s crypto-tied digital identity project, World, formerly known as Worldcoin, has launched “Priority Blockspace for Humans” (PBH) on its World Chain mainnet.

The new infrastructure is designed to prioritize transactions from verified human users, marking a shift away from traditional gas fee bidding mechanisms.

Priority Blockspace for Humans

According to a press release shared with CryptoPotato, PBH automatically activates during network congestion, reserving part of each block specifically for transactions from Orb-verified individuals.

This mechanism aims to guarantee faster and more reliable access to core services, such as proof-of-human verifications, Mini Apps, and grant claims, without requiring additional costs.

According to World, the initiative supports developers seeking to build for its network of 13 million verified humans. The launch is part of the project’s broader goal to create a global network of over one billion authenticated users.

Steven Smith, vice president, Engineering and Protocol, for Tools for Humanity, said that Priority Blockspace for Humans effectively makes World Chain “fairer and more efficient,” by granting real human transactions built-in priority during block production.

He went on to say that:

“We firmly believe that humans and AI can coexist harmoniously, and this development reflects our commitment to building user-friendly systems that benefit humanity while also making the most of bleeding-edge technology.”

PBH underwent testing in an incentivized testnet involving researchers and developers, including contributors from Flashbots and Alchemy. The system is open-source and has been integrated into the World Chain Block Builder and Rollup Boost, a modular component designed for OP Stack chains that supports custom transaction ordering. Both PBH and Rollup Boost have also been subject to independent audits conducted by blockchain infrastructure firm Nethermind.

Regulatory Hurdles

World officially launched in the United States in April, expanding to six major cities: Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. After previously avoiding a US rollout due to regulatory concerns about token distribution, World is now moving forward under what appears to be a more favorable regulatory climate.

Despite the US expansion, the project continues to face global scrutiny over its data collection practices. Authorities in several countries, including Spain and Portugal, have suspended the project over privacy concerns related to biometric data usage.

$40 Million AI Scam? Humans, Not Tech, Powered Shopping App https://earlybirdsinvest.com/40-million-ai-scam-humans-not-tech-powered-shopping-app/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/40-million-ai-scam-humans-not-tech-powered-shopping-app/#respond Sat, 12 Apr 2025 20:26:38 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/40-million-ai-scam-humans-not-tech-powered-shopping-app/

A US tech founder is facing fraud charges after claims that his company’s artificial intelligence (AI) was actually people working from a call center in the Philippines.

Albert Saniger, the 35-year-old behind a shopping app called nate, is accused of lying to investors about how the app worked.

Saniger raised over $40 million by saying nate used its own AI system to complete online purchases. He told backers that the app could pick the right product size, fill in payment and shipping details, and place orders with just one tap from the user—no human help needed.

The app was launched around 2018 and marketed as a simple way to buy things from any online store. Users were led to believe that smart software handled every step of the checkout process.

In reality, the AI struggled to complete most orders. Instead of fixing the system, nate quietly hired people in the Philippines to do the work. These workers would complete each transaction manually, pretending to be the app’s automation.

Saniger has been charged with securities fraud and wire fraud. Each charge could carry up to 20 years in prison if he is found guilty. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has also filed a civil complaint against him.

Acting US Attorney Matthew Podolsky said, “Albert Saniger misled investors by exploiting the promise and allure of AI technology to build a false narrative about innovation that never existed”.

Figure AI’s Helix Lets Robots Think, Move, and Adapt Like Humans https://earlybirdsinvest.com/figure-ais-helix-lets-robots-think-move-and-adapt-like-humans/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/figure-ais-helix-lets-robots-think-move-and-adapt-like-humans/#respond Fri, 21 Feb 2025 09:04:28 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/figure-ais-helix-lets-robots-think-move-and-adapt-like-humans/

Figure AI has introduced Helix, an artificial intelligence (AI) that allows humanoid robots to follow spoken instructions and handle objects they’ve never seen before—without requiring special training or programming.

Helix operates using two main components. One processes language and vision, helping the robot understand commands and plan actions. The other translates those plans into physical movements, which ensure smooth and precise control.

This combination allows robots to recognize objects and figure out how to handle them without prior knowledge.

On February 20, Figure AI shared a video of two robots sorting groceries. One passed items to the other, which placed them in either a fridge or a cabinet. Despite having no prior information about these specific objects, they correctly identified which items needed refrigeration and which could be stored elsewhere.

Brett Adcock, founder of Figure AI, stated on X:

Like a human, Helix understands speech, reasons through problems, and can grasp any object – all without needing training or code.

According to Figure AI, this ability comes from its Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model. This system connects visual recognition, language processing, and movement control, allowing robots to work together and adjust to new situations in real-time.

Figure AI trained Helix on about 500 hours of robot demonstrations and used an automated system to generate natural language instructions for each action. The final model runs on built-in processors, making it ready for commercial use without external computing power.
