Ethereum price started a fresh recovery wave above the $4,450 zone but failed. ETH is still struggling and might slide below the $4,220 zone.

  • Ethereum is still struggling to recover above the $4,400 zone.
  • The price is trading below $4,400 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average.
  • There is a short-term declining channel forming with resistance at $4,310 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD (data feed via Kraken).
  • The pair could start a decent increase if there is a close above the $4,350 level in the near term.

Ethereum Price Remains At Risk

Ethereum price started a recovery wave after it formed a base above the $4,200 zone, like Bitcoin. ETH price was able to climb above the $4,350 and $4,400 resistance levels before the bears appeared.

The recent low was formed at $4,233 and the price is now consolidating losses. There was a minor increase above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $4,491 swing high to the $4,233 low. However, the bulls face an uphill task near $4,320.

Besides, there is a short-term declining channel forming with resistance at $4,310 on the hourly chart of ETH/USD. Ethereum price is now trading below $4,320 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. On the upside, the price could face resistance near the $4,300 level.

The next key resistance is near the $4,320 level. The first major resistance is near the $4,360 level or the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent decline from the $4,491 swing high to the $4,233 low. A clear move above the $4,360 resistance might send the price toward the $4,420 resistance. An upside break above the $4,420 resistance might call for more gains in the coming sessions. In the stated case, Ether could rise toward the $4,500 resistance zone or even $4,550 in the near term.

More Downside In ETH?

If Ethereum fails to clear the $4,360 resistance, it could start a fresh decline. Initial support on the downside is near the $4,260 level. The first major support sits near the $4,220 zone.

A clear move below the $4,220 support might push the price toward the $4,200 support. Any more losses might send the price toward the $4,160 support level in the near term. The next key support sits at $4,120.

Technical Indicators

Hourly MACD – The MACD for ETH/USD is gaining momentum in the bearish zone.

Hourly RSI – The RSI for ETH/USD is now below the 50 zone.

Major Support Level – $4,220

Major Resistance Level – $4,360

Coinbase Is Losing Its Grip: Market Share Drops Despite Massive Volume Surge https://earlybirdsinvest.com/coinbase-is-losing-its-grip-market-share-drops-despite-massive-volume-surge/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/coinbase-is-losing-its-grip-market-share-drops-despite-massive-volume-surge/#respond Sat, 16 Aug 2025 16:31:13 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/coinbase-is-losing-its-grip-market-share-drops-despite-massive-volume-surge/

Coinbase’s market presence has gradually declined throughout 2025. The US-based exchange began the year holding a 7% share of the global crypto trading market, but by July, its dominance had fallen to just 5.8%.

COIN shares slumped as Coinbase failed to capitalize on positive US regulatory sentiment.

Big Volume, Shrinking Power

According to the latest report by CoinGecko, this decline positions Coinbase as the ninth-largest exchange globally. Trading volumes in July climbed to $101.7 billion, reflecting an increase from June but not enough to offset its shrinking market share.

Despite its early-year strength and the broader adoption of digital assets, the crypto exchange has struggled to maintain its leading position amid growing competition from both domestic and international exchanges, as challenges in retaining users and trading activity grow.

CoinGecko revealed that trading activity on seven of the top 10 crypto exchanges declined in Q2 2025. Six of them were found to have recorded double-digit losses. Crypto.com led the decline with over a 61% drop in volume from $560.2 billion in Q1 to $216.4 billion. Combined trading volumes across the top 10 exchanges fell by 27.7%, a $1.5 trillion decrease, which left total volumes at $3.9 trillion for the quarter.

Binance Outpaces Rivals

Binance continued to dominate centralized exchanges in July 2025, as it captured almost 40% of total spot trading volume. Its trading volume jumped 61.4% month-on-month to $698.3 billion, boosted by strong crypto market momentum and Bitcoin reaching record highs.

For Q2, Binance held a 38% market share among the top 10 exchanges and generated $1.47 trillion in trading volume. However, the exchange’s activity remained down 21.6% compared to Q1, which logged $2.0 trillion.

Meanwhile, MEXC secured the second spot among centralized exchanges for the month, as it recorded $150.4 billion in spot trading volume and an 8.6% market share. Volume surged 61.8% from June’s $93.0 billion – its second-best monthly performance after May’s $163.1 billion.

Across Q2, MEXC processed $346.2 billion in volume, up from $334.0 billion in the previous quarter. The exchange climbed from eighth place in Q1 to second by July.

Tether’s Grip On Stablecoin Market At Risk As Regulated Rivals Gain Momentum – Here’s Why https://earlybirdsinvest.com/tethers-grip-on-stablecoin-market-at-risk-as-regulated-rivals-gain-momentum-heres-why/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/tethers-grip-on-stablecoin-market-at-risk-as-regulated-rivals-gain-momentum-heres-why/#respond Mon, 14 Jul 2025 19:24:19 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/tethers-grip-on-stablecoin-market-at-risk-as-regulated-rivals-gain-momentum-heres-why/

Amid the current tightening global oversight and a growing appetite for transparency in the crypto world, Tether’s position as the leading stablecoin issuer in the sector is at risk from new and rising stablecoins.

Fading Dominance Of The Stablecoin Issuer

SMQKE, an observer and researcher, shared a report that shows that the firm could lose its robust grip in the stablecoin sector. According to the researcher, the leading stablecoin issuer “will lose market dominance to regulated stablecoins like the RLUSD in the future.”

Presently, global regulations are being made that focus on the intersection of digital assets and traditional finance. One of the assets that fits nicely into these regulations is Circle’s USDC, which has won approval from the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

However, Tether’s USDT appears to be evading regulators’ demands for transparency in the way it operates its underlying assets. As a result, regulated stablecoins will continue to overtake USDT as the market leader in the future. “Only time will tell whether Tether will continue to leak market share to rivals or continue to hold sway with cryptocurrency fans,” the report stated.

Stablecoins such as USDP, PYUSD, USDG, and RLUSD steadily challenge USDT’s dominance as they reflect stronger institutional alignment. This is because official regulations govern each stablecoin and have reserves that are mainly made up of liquid, high-quality assets.

A Major Shift From Tether Coming Soon

As the stablecoin landscape evolves, Tether, the largest stablecoin firm, continues to make steps to provide a reliable network. A recent report shows that the leading platform plans to let go of some of the top chains in the sector in the upcoming months.

In a significant move, Tether, the first blockchain-enabled platform, has announced it will discontinue USDT support on five key blockchains. Such a move is meant to streamline its operations and bolster the network’s efficiency.

The announcement was shared by the Phoenix Group, a crypto media on the X platform, on Sunday. According to the report, the impending disconnection is scheduled to take place in the next two months, particularly in September 2025.

This strategic shift by Tether tends to phase out chains that no longer meet the changing technical or community standards of the stablecoin issuer. In addition, it reflects the firm’s increased focus on preserving liquidity and security throughout its ecosystems.

The list of blockchains mentioned in the company’s report includes Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash, Kusama Network, EOS Network, and Algorand. Tether will discontinue USDT redemptions and freeze remaining tokens on these chains starting from September 1, 2025.

As stated in the report, Tether’s decision to cut ties with these key chains comes after a strategic infrastructure evaluation and represents a move toward more utilized and scalable networks. Prior to the September deadline, the firm has urged users holding USDT on the affected chains to redeem or migrate their tokens to other supported chains. Failure to do so before then is likely to lead to loss of funds and assets.

DEX Trading Volumes Explode – Are CEXes Losing Their Grip on Crypto? https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dex-trading-volumes-explode-are-cexes-losing-their-grip-on-crypto/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dex-trading-volumes-explode-are-cexes-losing-their-grip-on-crypto/#respond Sun, 06 Jul 2025 02:17:48 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dex-trading-volumes-explode-are-cexes-losing-their-grip-on-crypto/

In June, total crypto market capitalization posted a modest 2.62% gain, even as volatility stayed elevated due to increased geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Investor anxiety over potential energy supply disruptions and growing regional instability led to persistent pressure on asset prices.

Despite this, the DEX to CEX spot trade volume reached a historic peak of 27.9% in June.

DEX Fever Hits June

Over the past year, DEX trading volumes have more than doubled. This is in contrast with flat volumes on CEX platforms, according to the latest Binance Research report shared with CryptoPotato.

In fact, PancakeSwap led DEX market share growth as it climbed from 16% in April to 42% in June, driven by Alpha trading volume growth and the Infinity upgrade that boosted speed, cost, and liquidity efficiency. World Liberty Financial’s increased on-chain activity also boosted liquidity and yield opportunities.

Hyperliquid’s spot volume rose from $6 billion in January to nearly $10 billion in June, amidst fierce competition from decentralized perp trading solutions.

On Solana, PumpSwap also maintained strong user engagement. The same cannot be said for Raydium, Orca, and Meteora, which struggled to match their January trading peaks, then fueled by meme coin hype.

Hybrid CeDeFi Platforms Narrow the Gap

A major driver of this growth is that CEXes are increasingly channeling activity toward DEX platforms. Several large exchanges have launched or revealed hybrid models that merge CEX liquidity with on-chain settlement.

Binance Research explained that these CeDeFi offerings deliver low-slippage trading, MEV protection, and fast transactions, which allow DEX scalability while bridging the gap between centralized and decentralized crypto markets.

It also stated that the flexible regulatory environment for DeFi has allowed DEXes to innovate and expand with new features, which has driven their on-chain volumes. On the other hand, CEX spot volumes remain tied to retail speculation, macro conditions, and volatility, which makes them more vulnerable to external market shifts seen throughout this year.

Dogecoin (DOGE) Slips Once More—Bears Tighten Grip on Meme Coin Darling https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dogecoin-doge-slips-once-more-bears-tighten-grip-on-meme-coin-darling/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dogecoin-doge-slips-once-more-bears-tighten-grip-on-meme-coin-darling/#respond Mon, 16 Jun 2025 06:59:57 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dogecoin-doge-slips-once-more-bears-tighten-grip-on-meme-coin-darling/ Dogecoin started a fresh decline from the $0.1880 zone against the US Dollar. DOGE is now consolidating losses and might recover if it clears $0.1780.

  • DOGE price started a fresh decline below the $0.1880 and $0.180 levels.
  • The price is trading below the $0.180 level and the 100-hourly simple moving average.
  • There is a short-term bearish trend line forming with resistance at $0.1760 on the hourly chart of the DOGE/USD pair (data source from Kraken).
  • The price could start a fresh decline if it declines below the $0.180 zone.

Dogecoin Price Dips Again

Dogecoin price started a fresh decline after it failed to clear the $0.1880 zone, like Bitcoin and Ethereum. DOGE declined below the $0.1800 and $0.1750 levels.

The bears even pushed the price below the $0.1720 level. A low was formed at $0.1695 and the price is now consolidating losses below the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the downward move from the $0.2064 swing high to the $0.1697 low.

Dogecoin price is now trading below the $0.180 level and the 100-hourly simple moving average. There is also a short-term bearish trend line forming with resistance at $0.1760 on the hourly chart of the DOGE/USD pair.

Immediate resistance on the upside is near the $0.1760 level. The first major resistance for the bulls could be near the $0.1785 level. The next major resistance is near the $0.180 level. A close above the $0.180 resistance might send the price toward the $0.1880 resistance. It is close to the 50% Fib retracement level of the downward move from the $0.2064 swing high to the $0.1697 low.

Dogecoin Price

Any more gains might send the price toward the $0.200 level. The next major stop for the bulls might be $0.2120.

More Losses In DOGE?

If DOGE’s price fails to climb above the $0.180 level, it could start another decline. Initial support on the downside is near the $0.1720 level. The next major support is near the $0.1700 level.

The main support sits at $0.1680. If there is a downside break below the $0.1680 support, the price could decline further. In the stated case, the price might decline toward the $0.1550 level or even $0.1525 in the near term.

Technical Indicators

Hourly MACD – The MACD for DOGE/USD is now losing momentum in the bearish zone.

Hourly RSI (Relative Strength Index) – The RSI for DOGE/USD is now above the 50 level.

Major Support Levels – $0.1700 and $0.1680.

Major Resistance Levels – $0.1760 and $0.1800.

A decentralized platform, Lukso offers an alternative to creators depending on centralized platforms such as Google, Meta, and Spotify.

The company recently appointed Cell as new CEO and is committed to shifting the power dynamics of current centralized systems through the LUKSO Standard Proposal (LSP) smart contract system, which gives Creaters complete control over their identity and content.

The platform promotes the universal identity of creators and AI that are resistant to censorship, completely chained, easily exposed, and allows creator content to be accessible and interactive to everyone, including apps and protocols.

Shadow, which prohibits profiles and content that are prevalent in centralized systems, is part of a space where content is not permitted to share, as published thanks to the platform’s LSP smart contracts.

As a result, creators can experiment with content without fear of exhaustion.

Lukso Universal Profile – Progress for AI Transparency and Web3 Adoption

Web3 platforms (transparency, ownership, user agents, etc.) have many advantages, but so far they have been rarely popular in the creator community due to usability factors such as unfamiliar tools, confused interfaces, and security concerns.

Cell said, “It’s not the tools or Dapps that carry Web3 on your back, but the lack of foundations, pure private key account systems, and a proper standardized smart contract-based account system.”

According to the sale, Lukso’s Universal Profile addresses these issues by integrating the identity of a smart, recoverable, user-friendly blockchain into the blockchain through LSP smart contracts.

Furthermore, as AI continues to evolve, universal profiles become increasingly important. With growing concerns about authors, attribution and accountability, AI agents can establish a verifiable on-chain presence through Lukso’s universal profile, ensuring transparency and trust.

Additionally, universal profiles are modular and programmable, allowing developers and creators to manage AI profiles through Lukso’s LSP6 Key Manager Standard, enabling secure, collaborative governance for AI agents.

Like human creators, AI agents can develop their own reputation, gain follow-up, and evolve socially, due to their universal profile.

A distributed system can match intensive convenience with appropriate criteria

“Distributed systems often face hurdles of scalability, speed and user experience,” explains the sales, relying on centralized systems.

However, by having the right standards and leveraging universal profiles, Web3 offers smart, recoverable, scalable accounts, providing a better user experience when compared to Web2.

A key advantage of Web3 is its complexity. Unlike the siloed approach of the Web 2 platform, Lukso’s ecosystem allows users to embed protocols directly into profiles.

Therefore, mini apps can serve multiple purposes. For example, an artist’s profile could be a ticket store or a project’s profile could be a launch pad. This level of modularity does not exist in Web2, so the possibilities are endless.

With the right standards, a decentralized Web3 platform can outweigh the intensive convenience by increasing flexibility, ownership and creative potential.

  • Lukso allows users to embed protocols directly into profiles

  • Lukso’s LSP6 Standard allows developers to collaborate and securely manage AI profiles

Tron strengthens grip on USDT, claiming nearly half of its $150B supply https://earlybirdsinvest.com/tron-strengthens-grip-on-usdt-claiming-nearly-half-of-its-150b-supply/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/tron-strengthens-grip-on-usdt-claiming-nearly-half-of-its-150b-supply/#respond Wed, 14 May 2025 03:28:06 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/tron-strengthens-grip-on-usdt-claiming-nearly-half-of-its-150b-supply/ Tether’s market cap just passed $150.66 billion, setting yet another record and extending its dominance over every rival combined.

Data from DeFiLlama showed USDT expanded by roughly $830 million in the past week and more than $5.5 billion since mid‑April. The headline total matters on its own, but the real insight lies in how the tokens are distributed: nearly half now sit on Tron, while Ethereum holds a slightly smaller share, leaving every other network, including BNB Chain, Solana, and Avalanche, with only single‑digit crumbs.

Tron’s grip on USDT has never been stronger. Data puts $73.7 billion of USDT on the network, equal to 46.8 % of all outstanding supply, up 2.47% in the past seven days. Low fees, simple account creation, and deep exchange support have kept Tron at the core of over‑the‑counter settlements and emerging‑market remittance corridors, where cents matter more than smart‑contract flexibility and network effects.

During the past week, Tron’s entire stablecoin base (including USDC, Dai, and smaller tokens) grew by $1.79 billion to $73.74 billion, showing that new flows head straight for the cheapest rails available.

USDT tether distribution across chains
Distribution of Tether’s USDT supply across chains on May 13, 2025 (Source: Defi Llama)

Ethereum still hosts $66.22 billion in USDT, or 42.1% of the float, but the chain recorded a $1.38 billion net outflow across all stablecoins over the past three weeks and $746.5 million in the most recent seven‑day window. Elevated gas prices above two gwei seldom deter DeFi power users, yet they remain a hurdle for retail exchanges and cross‑border desks with thin profit margins.

Even so, Ethereum’s ecosystem continues to provide the deepest liquidity pools, the most active derivatives market, and critical integrations with tokenized real‑world assets, giving USDT holders a reason to stay en masse despite cheaper alternatives.

The split between the two chains creates a stark contrast in issuer concentration. USDT accounts for 99.25% of all stablecoins on Tron, meaning almost every dollar on the network relies on Tether’s banking relationships and risk controls. Ethereum, by comparison, offers more redundancy: USDT covers 51.23% of its $123.74 billion pool, while USDC, Dai, Ethena’s USDe, and a patchwork of newcomers share the rest. That mix cushions Ethereum users if any single issuer hits turbulence and explains why sophisticated DeFi strategies keep a large presence on the chain despite higher fees.

Circle’s USDC remains the second‑largest stablecoin at $60.79 billion. The gap between the two majors is now close to $90  billion, widening from $80 billion only a month ago as Tether continued minting faster and USDC plateaued. Weekly USDC issuance slipped 1.58%, and its one‑month expansion stands at a modest 1.23%. Europe’s incoming MiCA regime may hand Circle a compliance edge later this year, but the numbers show that regulatory clarity in Europe has yet to convince traders to switch.

Smaller stablecoins paint a mixed picture. DAI jumped 8.97% in seven days and 12.07% in a month to $4.48 billion after MakerDAO voters raised the Savings Rate and attracted capital with an on‑chain yield north of 11% at one point. Ethena’s synthetic USDe nudged up 1.08% on the week yet sits 5.19% below its April reading at $4.65 billion, showing a slightly reduced hedge demand after funding spreads on perpetual futures compressed. BlackRock’s pilot BUIDL, with a tokenized US Treasury backing, rose 19.30% in a month to $2.89 billion; still tiny by Tether standards but notable for its speed.

BNB Chain appears to be the only secondary network making material progress on the USDT front. It absorbed a 5.79% daily influx worth roughly $300 million, lifting its tether stash to $5.48 billion, the largest single‑day addition since February. Solana’s $2.39 billion hoard was flat, and Avalanche gave back 2.74% of its $1.87 billion supply despite a double‑digit monthly increase. All told, networks outside Tron and Ethereum hold slightly more than $10 billion of Tether, less than the total minted in April alone, showing how deeply liquidity has clustered on the two leading chains.

The preference for Tron stems from straightforward math. At half a cent per standard transfer, a desk moving $100 million pays only $50 in fees on Tron versus roughly $30,000 on Ethereum at 50 gwei. Bridges and wrappers allow near‑instant migration to exchanges that list TRC‑20 USDT pairs, notably Binance, OKX, and HTX, reducing the need for costly and sometimes slow L1 settlements. Ethereum cannot match that cost profile, but its entrenched position in DeFi, institutional custody, and high‑value NFTs keeps large balances anchored even when idle capital seeks cheaper homes.

Concentration carries well‑known hazards. Should regulators target Tron, throttle Tether’s access to it, or restrict US banks from servicing exchanges that rely on TRC‑20 liquidity, nearly half of all USDT could become harder to redeem or move. That risk explains why some treasurers follow a barbell approach, parking working capital on Tron while holding strategic reserves on Ethereum or even in staked T‑Bills such as BUIDL. This approach mirrors fiat treasury segmentation, with checking accounts for day‑to‑day flows and separate custody for longer‑term allocations.

Another question concerns the pace of issuance. Tether added almost $19  billion in the first four months of 2025, sprinting past the entire 2024 print run before May even began. If that tempo holds, USDT could finish the year north of $200 billion, a level that would equal roughly 20% of Bitcoin’s current market value. Such a scale will force exchanges, prime brokers, and insurers to revisit counterparty exposure limits, upgrade collateral policies, and map dependency scenarios across chain failures or banking interruptions.

For now, the data shows liquidity is concentrating on the cheapest venues, and traders accept the single‑issuer exposure because the alternative is slower settlement or higher fees. USDC offers a compliance‑first path, DAI provides a fully collateralized model, and newer tokens experiment with yield or real‑world backing, yet none capture share at a pace that dents Tether’s lead. The $150 billion milestone is not just a big, round number; it represents a market structure where two chains and one issuer set the tempo for crypto‑denominated commerce.
