  • Gemini’s grand IPO debut

During a recent appearance on Fox Business, Cryptocurrency billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss predicted that the price of Bitcoin could potentially skyrocket to $1 million “one day.”

The Winklevii are on the same page with such names as former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao and Blockstream CEO Adam Back when it comes to their uber-bullish seven-figure prediction

The billionaire twins argue that Bitcoin is “gold 2.0,” predicting that it is going to disrupt the market cap of the precious metal.

Early crypto adopters

Following the Facebook drama, which resulted in a multi-million-dollar settlement with founder Mark Zuckerberg, the Winklevoss twins discovered Bitcoin all the way back in 2012. Then, they used the settlement money to make a sizable investment in Bitcoin.

After the cryptocurrency experienced a notable price surge, they were among the first public figures to become Bitcoin billionaires.

The twins claim that they purchased BTC when it was trading at roughly $10, but they argue that it is still early.

Notably, they also made an appearance on the show back in October 2015 when Gemini was just launched, so the exchange is now also on the verge of celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Their Bitcoin success story is colloquially known as “the revenge of the Winklevii.”

The Gemini exchange now boasts a total of $21 billion worth of assets on its platform.

Gemini’s grand IPO debut

The exchange secured a total of $425 million with its initial public offering (IPO), which analysts have described as another win for the cryptocurrency market.

The shares of the cryptocurrency trading platform surged sharply higher on Thursday, showing that there is still plenty of investor demand for crypto companies.

This comes after stablecoin issuer Circle also had an extremely successful IPO.

Other cryptocurrency trading platforms, such as Grayscale, are also going public after the U.S. government swiftly moved to embrace the industry.

Gemini Space Station, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, surged in its Nasdaq debut Friday after raising $425 million in an initial public offering.

The company priced its IPO late Thursday at $28 a share, valuing Gemini at about $3.3 billion before trading began. That price was above the revised $24 to $26 range it set earlier in the week and well above the initial $17 to $19 range. The offering covered 15.2 million shares.

On Friday, the stock opened at $37.01, a 32% premium to the offer price. Shares climbed as high as $45.89 during intraday trading before settling at $32, still 14% above the IPO level by the close.

Gemini, headquartered in New York, operates a suite of crypto services including a spot exchange, custody solutions for institutions, a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, a crypto rewards credit card, and staking products. As of the end of July, the company held more than $21 billion of assets on its platform. Filings show Gemini lost $159 million in 2024 and $283 million in the first half of 2025.

The Winklevoss brothers, who became the first bitcoin billionaires after early investments in the cryptocurrency, appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” on the morning of the IPO. Tyler Winklevoss described bitcoin as “gold 2.0” and said adoption remains in the “first inning.” He and his brother projected that bitcoin could reach $1 million within the next decade.

Gemini’s listing follows those of Coinbase (COIN) in April 2021 and Bullish (BLSH), which owns CoinDesk, last month.

Gemini shares hit $40 within hours of Nasdaq debut, showcasing Wall Street’s crypto appetite https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-shares-hit-40-within-hours-of-nasdaq-debut-showcasing-wall-streets-crypto-appetite/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-shares-hit-40-within-hours-of-nasdaq-debut-showcasing-wall-streets-crypto-appetite/#respond Sat, 13 Sep 2025 11:03:04 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-shares-hit-40-within-hours-of-nasdaq-debut-showcasing-wall-streets-crypto-appetite/

Gemini made a strong entrance on Wall Street on Sept. 12, with its stock price surging over 50% within the intial hours of their first day of trading on the Nasdaq.

The stock, listed under the symbol GEMI, opened at $28 per share and quickly advanced in the opening hours.

Prices briefly touched $40 before settling near $33 by midafternoon, leaving Gemini with a market capitalization of roughly $1.3 billion, according to Yahoo Finance.

The closing price represented a gain of about 24% from its offering level.

Strong debut

Gemini raised approximately $425 million by selling 15.2 million shares. The final offer price exceeded both its original range of $17 to $19 per share and a later revision that set expectations between $24 and $26.

Following a few weeks of rumors, the exchange filed its registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Sept. 2 and reached the public market just 10 days later, reflecting investor demand for digital asset exposure.

While not among the largest exchanges by trading activity, Gemini has built a reputation in the U.S. for emphasizing compliance and security. Trading on its platform accelerated in the days before the IPO.

Wave of crypto listings

The debut adds to a string of successful crypto-linked listings in 2025. Stablecoin operator Circle launched on the New York Stock Exchange earlier this year, with shares climbing from a $31 debut price to above $60, valuing the firm at more than $33 billion.

Blockchain financial firm Figure Technology Solutions also completed its IPO this week, notching a 24% first-day jump followed by additional gains.

Taken together, the listings highlight a resurgence of Wall Street interest in digital-asset equities, with investors seeking exposure to crypto companies after years of market volatility.

Shares of Gemini (GEMI) opened at $41 a share on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on Friday, rising 45% from last night’s IPO price.

The crypto exchange, which is run by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, priced its IPO at $28 a share, valuing the company at around $3.3 billion. It had sold 15.2 million shares, raising $425 million.

Gemini posted a net loss of $283 million in the first half of the year. That follows a $159 million loss for all of 2024, according to the company’s latest financials.

Despite the deepening red ink, Gemini priced its IPO nicely above the initially hoped-for level and secured a $50 million strategic investment from Nasdaq earlier this week. The stock exchange operator said the deal is intended to expand access to Gemini’s crypto custody services for institutional clients. It also positions Gemini as a distribution partner for Nasdaq’s trade management software, Calypso.

Gemini’s IPO follows that of other crypto-native platforms, including stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL), Bullish (BLSH), eToro (ETOR) and Figure Technologies (FIGR), that also went public this year in what appears to be a booming capital market for crypto firms amidst a wave friendly U.S. regulatory action. Bullish Global is CoinDesk’s parent company.

Crypto exchange Gemini lifted the price range for its initial public offering to $24 to $26 per share, setting up a debut that could value the company at about $3.2 billion, according to a filing this week.

The New York-based exchange, run by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, previously aimed for a range of $17 to $19. The share count remains unchanged at 16.7 million.

At the top end, Gemini would raise roughly $435 million, up from about $317 million under its earlier goal.

Nasdaq partnership

Nasdaq has agreed to invest $50 million in the IPO, highlighting institutional backing for the crypto exchange as it prepares to go public under the ticker GEMI.

The partnership is seen as a vote of confidence in Gemini’s long-term prospects and a signal of Wall Street’s growing acceptance of digital asset platforms.

The IPO comes amid a flurry of fintech listings and renewed appetite for digital-asset companies. However, investor enthusiasm will hinge on Gemini’s ability to stabilize its finances while navigating an evolving regulatory environment.

CFTC nominee allegations

The IPO is also taking place against the backdrop of fresh regulatory controversy after President Donald Trump’s CFTC chair nominee Brian Quintenz alleged that Tyler Winklevoss attempted to sway his confirmation after failing to initiate a review of Gemini’s long-running dispute with the agency.

Quintenz released private text messages showing Winklevoss sharing Gemini’s complaint against the CFTC Inspector General, which accused the regulator of pursuing unfair enforcement actions.

Quintenz said he refused to promise favorable treatment, committing only to address the matter “fully and fairly” if confirmed. In the messages, Winklevoss expressed frustration over what he described as years of selective enforcement and urged Quintenz to align with Trump’s push to reform regulatory oversight.

The disclosure, made just days before Gemini’s market debut, highlights the company’s high stakes as it seeks to convince investors and regulators of its stability.

Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has lined up Nasdaq as a strategic investor as it prepares to go public in New York this week, Reuters reported on Sept. 9, citing people briefed on the matter.

According to the report, the share sale could raise up to $317 million, with Nasdaq expected to buy about $50 million of stock in a private placement at the time of the offering.

Gemini plans to trade under the ticker symbol “GEMI.”

The arrangement is more than financial and Nasdaq’s stake will be paired with a partnership giving its institutional clients access to Gemini’s custody and staking products. In return, Gemini customers will be able to use Nasdaq’s Calypso platform to track and manage collateral.

Neither Nasdaq nor Gemini commented on the details. Reuters noted that the exchange’s plans could still shift depending on market conditions.

Riding a rebound in listings

The offering comes as U.S. equity markets show renewed demand for new deals, with tech and crypto-related companies drawing strong investor interest. A successful debut would make Gemini the third publicly traded exchange after Coinbase and Bullish.

Gemini currently holds about $21 billion in client assets and has processed more than $285 billion in trading volume. Its business spans retail and institutional services, an over-the-counter desk, a credit card and trading in major tokens including Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoins.

Financially, the company reported a net loss of $282.5 million on $68.6 million in revenue for the first half of 2025, widening from a $41.4 million loss a year earlier.

The Winklevoss twins, who first rose to prominence through their legal battle with Facebook, invested heavily in Bitcoin in the early 2010s and became known as the “Bitcoin twins.” Their bid to take Gemini public is testament to how deeply digital assets are now tied to Wall Street.

Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, is preparing to go public with Nasdaq as both its listing venue and an investor, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the news outlet, Nasdaq has agreed to buy $50 million worth of Gemini shares in a private placement tied to the initial public offering.

The arrangement apparently goes beyond funding.

Nasdaq’s clients will gain access to Gemini’s custody and staking services, while Gemini’s institutional users will be able to use elements of Nasdaq’s Calypso system, a multi-asset trading and risk management platform. In particular, Gemini’s institutional clients will have access to Calypso’s collateral management features to help track and manage margin for trading activity.

Gemini is aiming for a Nasdaq debut on Friday under the ticker GEMI, though the timeline could change depending on market conditions, the report added.

The Reuters report noted that the offering comes amid a rebound in U.S. equity capital markets, where strong first-day performances from companies like Figma have encouraged more private firms to test investor appetite. Crypto names have also been active in recent months, including Circle and Bullish, whose IPOs drew significant institutional demand.

If completed, Gemini’s flotation would make it the third publicly traded U.S. crypto exchange, following Coinbase, which this year became the first crypto trading platform to join the S&P 500, and Bullish (CoinDesk’s parent company).

Expanding in Europe

Beyond its U.S. listing plans, Gemini is also deepening its presence in Europe. In a Sept. 5 blog post, the company announced a suite of new products for more than 400 million investors across the European Union and European Economic Area.

The rollout includes staking services for ether and solana and the launch of Gemini Perpetuals, a regulated derivatives offering that allows customers to trade perpetual contracts with leverage of up to 100x and no fixed expiration dates. Both products are being offered under European regulatory frameworks: staking is overseen through Gemini’s newly established Malta entity under MiCA approval, while derivatives fall under MiFID II rules, which govern traditional financial markets.

Mark Jennings, Gemini’s CEO for Europe, said the company’s goal is to make staking and derivatives accessible through a secure, easy-to-use platform. Staking, he noted, allows investors to earn rewards by contributing crypto to blockchain validation pools, while perpetual contracts give professional traders more ways to manage risk or take directional bets on the market.

Gemini said its staking service supports flexible pools with no minimum deposits, daily accrual of rewards and yields of up to 6% APR for SOL. For perpetuals, the exchange emphasized that positions can be collateralized with assets already in spot accounts, denominated in USDC, and managed within the same interface as spot trading.

The company framed these moves as part of a broader strategy to make Europe a cornerstone of its business. Jennings said the introduction of MiCA gives the EU a chance to lead globally on crypto regulation, setting standards across all 30 jurisdictions and providing investors with greater confidence.

“Europe continues to be a strategic focus for Gemini,” Jennings said in the blog post. “With MiCA, the region can set the global benchmark for clear, consistent crypto rules.”

is planning to enter public markets by offering 16.67 million shares of its Class A common stock.

The company submitted its registration paperwork on September 2 and aims to raise up to $317 million through the offering, with shares priced between $17 and $19.

This filing follows a prior application submitted on August 16 to have its Class A shares listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol GEMI. If successful, the offering could value the company at roughly $2.22 billion, based on estimates cited by Reuters.

Several financial firms are helping to move the IPO forward. Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Cantor have been named as lead bookrunners. They are joined by several additional firms, including Evercore ISI, Mizuho, and Truist Securities.

The company and some of its shareholders have also granted underwriters the ability to purchase up to 2.4 million extra shares and an additional 103,652 shares from selling holders within 30 days of the offering.

Gemini noted in the filing that it qualifies as an “emerging growth company” under US securities law. This status allows the firm to report less information than larger public companies.

For example, the filing includes only two years of audited financial statements and skips over sections such as executive compensation details. The company also plans to continue using these exemptions going forward, as allowed by law.

Does the voice assistant on the Galaxy S25 sound natural compared to Gemini? https://earlybirdsinvest.com/does-the-voice-assistant-on-the-galaxy-s25-sound-natural-compared-to-gemini/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/does-the-voice-assistant-on-the-galaxy-s25-sound-natural-compared-to-gemini/#respond Fri, 29 Aug 2025 09:39:18 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/does-the-voice-assistant-on-the-galaxy-s25-sound-natural-compared-to-gemini/

How natural does the voice assistant on the S25 sound compared to Google Assistant?

Best answer: Both Bixby and Gemini let you choose from a selection of voices, but Samsung’s virtual assistant doesn’t sound as natural as Gemini. You can, however, create a custom voice for Bixby using your own voice, but it doesn’t sound as good as the preloaded voices for Gemini.

Does the voice assistant on the Galaxy S25 sound natural compared to Gemini?

It became clear with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series that Samsung is putting more of its focus on Gemini and less on Bixby. As a result, Gemini was the default voice assistant on the Galaxy S25, which users could activate by pressing and holding the power button. It’s not surprising that Samsung has put Bixby on the back burner.

One of the reasons why Bixby continues to feel behind is that the voice assistant constantly reminds you that you’re talking to AI. That’s because it doesn’t sound as natural as Google Assistant or Gemini. While you can choose between several voices, they all sound robotic, and conversations don’t flow as naturally.

On the other hand, Gemini also has multiple voices to choose from, and they all sound very realistic, as if you’re talking to an actual person. This makes it easier to have naturally flowing conversations without feeling like you’re talking to a computer. This is one of the perks of features like Gemini Live, which lets you have free-flowing conversations where you can interrupt the assistant in the middle of an answer, something I can’t do with Bixby.

One thing that Bixby has that Gemini doesn’t is the ability to use your own voice as an option for the assistant, which you set up by reading a number of prompts to it. This allows it to capture your vocal intricacies and inflections. It works decently well, but it still sounds tinny and robotic.

Still, I prefer using Gemini over Bixby, and the voice is one of the reasons why Google’s virtual assistant is generally better.

“Nano-Banana” Revealed: Google’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Image Arrives https://earlybirdsinvest.com/nano-banana-revealed-googles-gemini-2-5-flash-image-arrives/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/nano-banana-revealed-googles-gemini-2-5-flash-image-arrives/#respond Thu, 28 Aug 2025 03:16:29 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/nano-banana-revealed-googles-gemini-2-5-flash-image-arrives/

Google has introduced a new image-focused model called Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, designed to produce and refine visuals through simple text commands.

The update was officially released on August 26 and is already live across all Gemini interfaces.

With this rollout, users can perform detailed edits, such as adjusting a person’s stance or combining different visuals, without altering key details like facial features or background elements.

Before its official reveal, the tool had surfaced on LMArena, a site where the public can test experimental artificial intelligence (AI) models. Known by that name under the alias “nano-banana”, the model gained attention for its smooth and reliable editing.

One of the standout features is its ability to keep a consistent appearance for a subject across multiple images. This can be useful in fields like advertising, where a product or character needs to appear the same in different scenes.

The model can also pull from multiple reference visuals and understand diagrams, which allows it to create accurate visuals based on a mix of sources.

To help prevent misuse, all images generated by the model carry an invisible SynthID signature, along with metadata that identifies them as AI-generated.

Gemini 2.5 Flash Image is available not only within Google’s platform but also through OpenRouter and fal.ai. It is also integrated into Google Cloud’s service offering, with a cost of $30 for every million output tokens, which translates to around $0.04 per image.

On August 13, Google rolled out an update to Gemini AI. What’s new in this version? Read the full story.
