An XRP Ledger (XRPL) developer building under the pseudonym “Vincent Van Code” says an MVP testnet for an “immutable forever file storage” service could arrive “likely 2 months” from now, after the idea evolved from simple document notarization to a compliance-oriented, globally mirrored archive that anchors control to popular wallets.

First XRP Ledger Based File Storage

In an initial post on August 18, 2025, the developer described the original scope as notarization on XRPL with on-chain hashing and a signing layer bound to legal documentation. “I am working on a new startup that will bring notarized documents to the XRPL,” he wrote. “Basically, you have a document you want an official record to say existed at a point in time. The doc is loaded in our servers, the hash of the file is sent to the XRPL, and I also provide a unique crypto based signing system to verify parties have signed. I also provide bundled relevant legal documents and affidavits to allow you to provide full evidence in court.”

He framed the go-to-market around enterprise users before a broader push to everyday records: “To be used initially mainly by companies and law firms, but later expanding to anything, from medical reports, tax receipts, you name it.” Pricing, he added, would be stratified: “Will be multi-tiered, where tier 0 is free and goes all the way to tier 4 which includes KYC signatories. All on our dear XRP Ledger. I would welcome everyone’s opinion on this.”

Today, the developer said the team had started writing code and, in the process, expanded the ambition from notarization to long-term preservation with explicit compliance targets and a wallet-centric control model. “Update: we have started coding… What we landed on is quite different to what we set out to do, and it is now a far more meaningful problem we are solving,” he said.

“Immutable, compliant (SOC2t2/ISO27001/SEC) 100yr storage. Built on XRPL, with files stored on multiple mirrors globally. Pay once depending on retention, store your file. And it’s not that expensive. All files fully linked and controlled by your wallet, either Xaman (formerlly XUMM) or a custodian provider (enterprise grade). Our journey has begun. I will keep you updated. Will have an MVP TESTNET hopefully in the next 2 of 3 weeks. You will be able to use a test wallet to upload files (of course files won’t be immutable in test, and will delete each week). Thanks all for your feedback, lot of it actually helped.”

He then characterized the effort in more sweeping terms while reiterating the testnet window. “We have started to build the world’s first XRPL powered immutable forever file storage. This is a game changer. I would love your feedback and suggestions. MVP TESTNET ETA likely 2 months.”

Taken together, the statements outline a two-phase path: a near-term test environment where users can upload via a test wallet with ephemeral files, followed by a broader MVP testnet rollout tied to XRPL-linked identity and signatures, and a commercial model that promises a single, retention-based payment for multi-mirror, 100-year storage.

At press time, XRP traded at $2.90.

VanEck and Jito file the first liquid staking-backed Solana ETF https://earlybirdsinvest.com/vaneck-and-jito-file-the-first-liquid-staking-backed-solana-etf/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/vaneck-and-jito-file-the-first-liquid-staking-backed-solana-etf/#respond Sat, 23 Aug 2025 09:06:27 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/vaneck-and-jito-file-the-first-liquid-staking-backed-solana-etf/

Jito announced the filing of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) based entirely on Solana liquid staking tokens in a partnership with VanEck.

According to an Aug. 22 announcement, the filing represents months of collaborative regulatory outreach between Jito and VanEck, beginning with initial meetings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in February.

The partnership aims to combine Solana exposure with staking rewards in a regulated wrapper accessible to traditional investors.

Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at VanEck, described the filing as selective but significant.

He stated via X:

“We’ve been very selective with our single-token ETF filings this year, but today’s S-1 for the VanEck JitoSOL ETF matters. If listed, it would represent a new piece of market infrastructure that bridges DeFi innovation with TradFi accessibility.”

Regulatory clarity

The filing builds on SEC staff guidance issued on Aug. 5, which clarified that liquid staking activities do not constitute securities transactions when properly structured.

This guidance essentially removed the final regulatory hurdle for staking-enabled crypto ETFs.

Jito’s preparation included a March 2025 securities classification report explaining why JitoSOL operates as a decentralized infrastructure rather than a security.

The company participated in regulatory comment periods during the summer of 2025, providing feedback on the safe use of liquid staking tokens in exchange-traded products.

Operational benefits

The announcement noted that the JitoSOL structure offers key advantages for institutional investors. Liquid staking tokens eliminate unbonding delays, allowing daily ETF creation and redemption while maintaining staking reward accrual.

The approach provides regulatory clarity through standard ETF accounting methods, giving investors access to staked Solana yields without operational complications.

Staking yields can offset or exceed expense ratios on networks like Solana, potentially improving long-term returns. The structure supports network security by decentralizing stake across validators, meaning investors contribute to blockchain health.

Jito Foundation Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Uhm worked with ETF issuers, custodians, and exchanges to establish infrastructure enabling VanEck’s product launch. The effort received support from Multicoin Capital, the Solana Foundation, and VanEck.

Further, VanEck and Jito join Canary Capital and Marinade in the group of issuers partnering with liquid staking protocols. Canary amended its Solana ETF filing in May 2025 to name Marinade Select as its staking provider.

The S-1 filing initiates a review process before potential market listing, positioning Jito to advance institutional crypto adoption through regulated on-chain finance products.

Now we’ll try to set up the node using bitcoin. I followed the instructions to download the file. I would like to check the release signature before installing. First done:

someone@somewhere:~/Downloads$ gpg --recv-keys 01EA5486DE18A882D4C2684590C8019E36C2E964
gpg: key 90C8019E36C2E964: public key "Wladimir J. van der Laan (Bitcoin Core binary release signing key) <(email protected)>" imported
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1

That seemed okay. I’d like to confirm that it was signed after this SHA256SUMS.asc This is the file I downloaded before, but I’ll get it.

someone@somewhere:~/Downloads$ gpg --verify SHA256SUMS.asc

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

TL;DR

  • Google’s file manager for Android is working on integrating a viewer for text files.
  • Evidence first appeared in Files by Google version 1.8436.793259964.0-release but the tool is not yet active.
  • When available, it should let you view text files and copy data out, but won’t support editing.

Android, as a platform, was never designed to be one-size-fits-all, and that’s a huge part of its appeal. Some users will go their whole lives never thinking twice about their phones’ file system, because they really don’t need to — but for those who do care about where all their data lives, and how it’s organized, we have tons of fantastic file manager apps. Those include Files by Google, and we’re starting off this week by checking out what looks like a new feature in the works for Google’s own solution.

A good developer really knows their user, and we are getting exactly those kind of synergistic vibes from this find. The sort of person who’s likely to be frequently using a file manager on Android may not be a developer themselves, but they’re probably the type of user who feels comfortable navigating the same circles. And that often means dealing with text file documentation.

Rather than the sort of rich text you’re used to from Google Docs or any other full-featured word processor with font size and style options, and all the formatting choices you could ever dream of, plain ASCII text files endure to this day, with their broad compatibility being a big reason why — pretty much every computer ever made will be able to make sense of them.

Looking at the changes in the 1.8436.793259964.0-release build of Files by Google, we’ve identified work on a basic viewer for text files.

While it’s not yet accessible, we were able to get an early look at the tool in action. Functionally, it’s quite limited, but we’re also not sure it really needs to be doing anything more to be useful.

Files will let you open text files and view them directly in the app. You can select text, and copy it to the clipboard… and that’s about it. There’s no search function, and certainly no text-entry or editing tools — this is for viewing text files, and maybe copying some lines out of them. This probably sounds like either nothing in the world to you, or a super-useful addition for quickly checking out stuff like README files. Like we said: The devs here absolutely know who they’re making this for.

It’s not like we couldn’t just open a text file in a dedicated editor app, or you could go with another file manager that already has a text viewer built-in, but we will be plenty happy to see Files by Google getting one, too.

⚠ An APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features may not make it to a public release.

US Feds File Suit to Forfeit $7.1M in Crypto With Ties to Oil and Gas Storage Fraud https://earlybirdsinvest.com/us-feds-file-suit-to-forfeit-7-1m-in-crypto-with-ties-to-oil-and-gas-storage-fraud/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/us-feds-file-suit-to-forfeit-7-1m-in-crypto-with-ties-to-oil-and-gas-storage-fraud/#respond Sun, 27 Jul 2025 03:40:00 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/us-feds-file-suit-to-forfeit-7-1m-in-crypto-with-ties-to-oil-and-gas-storage-fraud/

The U.S. Department of Justice is cracking down on yet another cryptocurrency fraud ploy.

The losses amount to tens of millions, and it’s expected that more will be identified.

An Elaborate Scheme

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Washington filed a civil action on Tuesday, demanding the forfeiture of cryptocurrency assets valued at roughly $7.1 million. The funds were seized during an investigation into a scheme involving fraudulent investment in oil and gas, which Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller announced.

The assets are only a fraction of the $97 million obtained by coconspirators between June 2022 and July 2024, which Homeland Security Investigations seized in December last year.

“The co-schemers in this fraud moved their ill-gotten gain through various cryptocurrency accounts to try to launder the money stolen from victims,” said Attorney Miller.

“Federal investigators and prosecutors in our office moved as quickly as possible to trace and seize the cryptocurrency so that some of the losses can be returned to victims.”

According to the filing and other case records, the plot was presented as escrow accounts for purchasing oil tank storage in either Rotterdam, the Netherlands, or Houston, which spanned from at least August 2022 through August 2024.

The victims were convinced to send money to these accounts, where the conspirators indicated that investors could make significant profits by renting out the oil tank storage to others. At least seven separate entities have been marked where funds were sent.

However, the good news ended there, as once the funds were sent, no further information on the investment was provided, and the co-schemers just stopped replying.

How The Funds Were Moved

A resident from Newcastle, Washington, Geoffrey K. Auyeung, 47, was indicted as a coconspirator in the U.S in August 2024, being charged with receiving the majority of the funds generated by the deceptive plan.

The money was quickly shuffled to one or more of at least 81 accounts at various institutions, either offshore or not, or to one of the at least 19 different crypto accounts.

The assets were then funneled into various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, USDT, USDC, and Ethereum, the majority of which was further transferred to accounts at the Binance exchange.

The forfeiture filing further states that the crypto accounts, which were seized, were linked to individuals in Russia and Nigeria, where some of the victims’ funds, used to purchase digital assets, were also sent to exchanges in those countries.

At least one of the money markets in Russia or Nigeria is alleged to have facilitated money laundering for transnational criminal organizations, including terrorist organizations and other parties that have been known to violate international trade sanctions.

At the time of Auyeung’s arrest, $2.3 million was seized from his bank accounts, which is in addition to the $7.1 million in crypto the government is seeking to forfeit.

If the court approves the forfeiture, the funds will be distributed accordingly to the victims. Investigators, so far, have identified dozens of such cases, with the total amount of exploits reaching approximately $17.9 million, which is expected to grow as more casualties are identified.

My question is about the bitcoin.conf file.

We will explain the steps used to install it.

I used this command to create the start testnet.bat file.
start “” bitcoin -qt.exe -calculated -datadir =. /data_calculated/ -prune = 550

You will now find this bitcoin.conf file in the “data_testnet” folder. But the thing is empty.

And I’m new to this so I’d like to know that I should make any changes to the bitcoin.conf file or leave it as is.

And another question now, I’m not closing my wallet for fear of losing the sync it took so long, so next time I want to access the wallet you can start directly Start testnet.bat file? ?

Gemini file drafts to SEC of proposed IPOs https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-file-drafts-to-sec-of-proposed-ipos/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-file-drafts-to-sec-of-proposed-ipos/#respond Mon, 09 Jun 2025 03:12:41 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-file-drafts-to-sec-of-proposed-ipos/

Today, Gemini Space Station, Inc. announced that it had secretly submitted a draft registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission for its proposed initial public offering (IPO) for Class A common stock. Details such as the number of shares and price range have not been revealed. The IPO will proceed after the SEC review and will be subject to market conditions.

“As amended, any purchase offer, solicitation or sale of securities will be made in accordance with the registration requirements of the Securities Act 1933,” the press release states. “This announcement is issued pursuant to Rule 135 under the Securities Act.”

Gemini’s movement is during a period of growing activity in both the open market and digital assets sectors. Just yesterday, Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. (NASDAQ, NYSE TEXAS: DJT) submitted the upcoming Truth Social Bitcoin Etf Form S-1 to the SEC.

“The Truth Social Bitcoin ETF, BT, is the trust of Nevada businesses to issue beneficial benefits to their net worth,” S-1 said. “The assets of a trust are primarily made up of Bitcoin held by custodians on behalf of the trust. The trust is generally trying to reflect the performance of Bitcoin prices.”

The momentum surrounding Bitcoin and broader crypto policy was also clear at the 2025 Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas last week. So Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevos joined the White House AI & Crypto Czar David Sacks to discuss how the government should manage Bitcoin and the recent developments in federal policy.

“Orange is new gold,” Cameron said. “So, Bitcoin is 2.0 gold, and that’s true from day one. So with $100,000 of Bitcoin, that’s exciting, but if you take 21 million and do the ground market price of gold.

Gemini founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss have joined the White House AI & Crypto Czar David Sacks.

They talked about some of the recent policy changes that are suitable for Crypto. This includes rollbacks of IRS Digital Asset Broker Rule and SAB 121. The Justice Department also halted restrictions through its prosecutor approach. This puts a lot of pressure from digital asset companies.

“It’s hard to imagine a president. Other presidents can do just a small part of this, or achieve that or administration, and we have over 100 days,” Tyler said. “So it’s amazing that there’s still a lot of time left.” He then said, “On the moon!” and finished the panel.

Gemini is heading for Wall Street: Winklevoss Twins File for IPO https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-is-heading-for-wall-street-winklevoss-twins-file-for-ipo/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-is-heading-for-wall-street-winklevoss-twins-file-for-ipo/#respond Sun, 08 Jun 2025 13:41:01 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/gemini-is-heading-for-wall-street-winklevoss-twins-file-for-ipo/

Gemini, a crypto exchange built by everyone’s favorite same twins, Cameron and Tyler Winclevos quietly took a big step towards the public. They filed confidentially for the IPO and once everything went well, we were able to quickly see Gemini trades on traditional stock exchanges.

Just the right time

To be honest, crypto companies haven’t always ridden the smoothest on the open market. But Gemini submissions come at a rather strategic moment. With Bitcoin over $70,000 and Ethereum back in green, the general mood of Crypto Land is cautiously optimistic. Even in the landscape of regulation, meanwhile Still bumpy, I feel it a bit It’s less hostile than it was a year ago.

Instead of airing Outside Their finances from the beginning, Gemini I went Confidential root. This allows you to test the water and adjust things behind the scenes before you fully commit. This is a move that many well-known companies have used to avoid investor sports when the market changes.

What Gemini brings to the table

The Gemini, released in 2014, is more than just a crypto exchange. Winklevoss Brothers tried to draw it as a clean, buttoned alternative Wild West of digital assets. This was one of the few platforms I lean out Regulations boasting a reputation for New York’s licenses, SOC audits and security.

Gemini offers crypto trading, staking, custody services, and even Crypto Rewards credit cards. Over the years, I’ve played games that are more conservative than my competitors like Binance and FTX, but that’s appealing to some institutional investors.

Why this IPO is important

The circle has pulled away from its own IPO with a flashy debut, but now it appears Gemini is ready to follow suit. If Gemini is landing, it could indicate that a crypto company focused on compliance and infrastructure is back to the good bounty of Wall Street.

This could also encourage others in the space to test the water. Companies like Kraken and Opensea have been thinking about flirting in the open market for many years. The successful Gemini Poe is a victory for the twins and the green light for the next wave of crypto companies looking to listings.

What is the catch?

Crypto companies are still facing scrutiny while things look up. Gemini has had their own brawls with regulators for the past year, especially with regard to the now-deprecated acquisition program. but that It looks like Most of these legal clouds are cleared.

It is also worth remembering that code sentiment can be reversed quickly. If a market tank or lawmaker decides to tighten the rope, its IPO window may close. Gemini takes the calculated risk here, betting that demand for crypto exposure in the stock market is still strong.

Final Thoughts

Winklevoss Twins has created a name bring the action Facebook doubled Bitcoin when most people thought it was a joke. Now they want to bring Gemini to the public, and they do it quietly but intentionally. If they pull it off, it will be another milestone in the crypto march to mainstream finances, but only this time, suits and ties.

A group of crypto users is taking legal action against Phantom Technologies, claiming the company’s wallet put their funds at risk due to poor security choices.

The lawsuit was filed on April 14 in New York’s Southern District by attorney Thomas Liam Murphy and 13 other plaintiffs. They said that Phantom’s design made it easy for hackers to steal from users without much effort.

One of the main claims is that Phantom stored users’ private keys in browser memory without any encryption. The suit pointed to an incident where a hacker reportedly got into a developer’s computer, copied the private key from the browser’s memory, and used it to take control of three Phantom wallets tied to that key.

According to the complaint, the wallet did not have any checks in place to catch this kind of activity—no limits on how fast funds could be moved, no alerts for strange locations, and no warnings for large withdrawals.

Additionally, the group said Phantom broke financial rules by acting like a trading platform without being registered. They argued the company avoided regulation by calling itself decentralized while still offering services that look like trading.

SEC drops UNISWAP investigations and will not file enforcement action https://earlybirdsinvest.com/sec-drops-uniswap-investigations-and-will-not-file-enforcement-action/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/sec-drops-uniswap-investigations-and-will-not-file-enforcement-action/#respond Tue, 25 Feb 2025 20:25:23 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/sec-drops-uniswap-investigations-and-will-not-file-enforcement-action/

According to a Tuesday announcement from UNISWAP, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has halted its investigation of UNISWAP Labs, a Brooklyn-based company behind a decentralized protocol of the same name.

UNISWAP received Wells’ notice – essentially heads up from regulatory authorities notifying respondents of claims the SEC plans to bring against them – last April, unregistered securities Decentralized exchanges of operations as brokers and unregistered securities exchanges, and issuance of unregistered security. In subsequent blog posts and social media posts, the company and its executives defended the legality of UNISWAP’s operations and pledged to combat pending accusations.

The company celebrated its decision to withdraw the SEC’s charges, calling it “a big victory for Defi” in its social media post.

“The new leadership at the SEC is closely watching pending enforcement investigations and litigation not only ourselves but our industry as a whole, and that there is a more effective path to protecting American consumers. We appreciate that we are aware of the UNISWAP lab, as well as the broader range of builders, users and developers working towards a better financial system for all of us. It’s also welcome to the Defi community. Blog post.
