Talk to anyone who gambles online and you’ll hear the same old concern: can I really trust the game? For years, casinos simply asked players to take their word for it. Then Bitcoin arrived, and with it came a new idea that flipped the script — Provably Fair.

It sounds like a slogan, but behind the phrase is a clever bit of cryptography. And while online casinos were the first to run with it, the technology isn’t limited to spinning wheels and card decks. Gambling just happened to be the first arena willing, and desperate enough, to test it.

A Concept Born in Cryptography

Provably Fair didn’t appear out of thin air. It grew out of decades of work by cryptographers searching for ways to prove something true without giving away secrets. Think of techniques like hashing or zero-knowledge proofs.

The basic trick is straightforward: generate a random outcome, lock it with a hash, and reveal the original only after the player acts. Since a hash is impossible to fake without breaking the math, the player can check for themselves that nothing was rigged.

For the first time, randomness stopped being a black box. Instead of trusting a casino’s claim that dice were fair, you could look at the numbers yourself. That sense of independence, of being able to hold the house accountable, was revolutionary for players who had only known blind trust before.

Source

Why Gambling Got There First

Casinos didn’t adopt this because they were unusually generous. They needed it to survive.

In the early Bitcoin era, anyone could spin up a gambling site in a weekend. There were no regulators, no auditors, no licenses. Players had no reason to believe the games weren’t scams. Trust was thin, and the whole market risked collapsing before it began.

Provably Fair gave operators a way out. By giving players the chance to check each roll and shuffle for themselves, casinos managed to carve out a bit of trust in a space with no real oversight. It wasn’t flawless, yet it kept the industry alive and the games moving.

Even today, platforms like 1wincryptocasino.net lean on this promise. For many players, it’s the deciding factor between making a deposit or closing the tab. It’s no exaggeration to say that without this innovation, early crypto gambling might never have grown into a global industry.

How It Actually Works

Imagine a coin toss. A normal online casino just shows you “heads” or “tails” and expects you to believe it. A Provably Fair system takes a few extra steps:

It sounds nerdy, but most platforms handle the math automatically. Players only need to click “verify” to see that nothing was tampered with. The point is empowerment — fairness isn’t just promised, but checkable.

Gambling as a Testing Ground

Casinos made sense as the first laboratory. Outcomes are constant and easy to measure. If a system fails even once, players notice immediately. The pressure is relentless, which makes for a perfect stress test.

That high-frequency environment pushed the concept further and faster than it might have grown elsewhere. In effect, gamblers became the first beta-testers of transparent randomness.

Beyond Roulette Wheels

What started in blackjack rooms has far wider potential. At heart, Provably Fair tackles a universal problem: how do strangers agree that something happened honestly?

Picture online voting where every ballot can be confirmed without exposing the voter’s identity. Or global supply chains, where each handoff can be checked for authenticity. Even lotteries or online raffles could prove their draws weren’t tampered with.

Casinos simply got there first because their business depended on trust, and they had no regulators to lean on. Once the principle proved itself there, it became harder to accept opaque systems elsewhere. The more people saw fairness in action, the more they demanded it in areas beyond entertainment.

Enter the Blockchain

The rise of blockchain only amplified the idea. A blockchain record makes once-and-for-all logs that can’t be rewritten. Marry that to Provably Fair randomness, and you get a double lock: results that can be verified in the moment and preserved forever on a ledger.

That combination has turned what was once a niche casino gimmick into a model for digital fairness more broadly.

Why It Resonates with People

The technology matters, but what really explains its appeal is psychological. Players don’t want blind faith; they want proof. With Provably Fair, the power shifts. The casino doesn’t say “trust us.” Instead, it says, “check for yourself.”

That shift doesn’t just change gambling, it changes expectations everywhere. Once you’ve experienced verifiable fairness, it’s hard to go back to hidden processes. It sparks a cultural change: transparency becomes the baseline, not a luxury.

Conclusion

Provably Fair began as a survival tactic for early crypto casinos, but it quickly grew into something bigger. It showed that transparency could be coded, not just promised. By combining cryptography with blockchain, it turned an untrustworthy environment into a proving ground for digital honesty.

Today, whether it’s a roulette spin or a vote in an online election, the same logic applies: fairness doesn’t need faith anymore. It has receipts.

Blockchain Bookmakers: A New Era of Fair and Secure https://earlybirdsinvest.com/blockchain-bookmakers-a-new-era-of-fair-and-secure/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/blockchain-bookmakers-a-new-era-of-fair-and-secure/#respond Tue, 05 Aug 2025 01:21:33 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/blockchain-bookmakers-a-new-era-of-fair-and-secure/

Blockchain technology is steadily reshaping various industries, and the world of online sports betting is no exception. A new wave of platforms, known as blockchain bookmakers, is leading the charge toward more transparent, secure, and decentralized betting experiences. These platforms are redefining how users place wagers and interact with sportsbooks, offering an alternative to the conventional model that has dominated for decades.

What Sets Blockchain Bookmakers Apart?

Unlike traditional sportsbooks that rely on centralized systems, blockchain-based bookmakers operate on decentralized networks. This means that every transaction, from placing a bet to receiving a payout, is recorded on a public, tamper-resistant ledger. The result? A level of transparency and fairness that traditional platforms can’t easily match.

With blockchain technology, users can verify that their bets were processed correctly, outcomes were genuine, and winnings were distributed without manipulation. It’s a self-auditing system that builds trust through code rather than relying on third-party oversight.

The popularity of blockchain bookmakers constantly grows and not only regular but professional bettors highly rate them. For example, a well-known service for finding surebets BetBurger often shows surebets with popular blockchain bookmaker BookmakerXYZ.

Advantages Over Traditional Bookmakers

One of the standout benefits is security. Blockchain’s distributed nature makes it highly resistant to hacking and data breaches. Personal data and funds are better protected than on centralized systems vulnerable to single points of failure.

Another perk is the use of cryptocurrencies, which streamlines payments. Deposits and withdrawals can be completed within minutes, not days, and without the hefty fees that come with traditional banking or payment processors. Plus, these transactions are often available 24/7, no need to wait for banking hours.

Fascinating Features You Might Not Know

  1. Smart Contracts Handle Everything: Blockchain bookmakers often rely on smart contracts, automated programs that execute transactions once specific conditions are met. These contracts can instantly calculate odds, accept bets, and pay winners, eliminating the need for intermediaries.

  2. Anonymous Betting Is Possible: On some platforms, all that’s needed to start betting is a crypto wallet. There’s no need to submit ID or personal documents, allowing users to enjoy private and anonymous wagering, a feature that’s increasingly rare in the regulated gambling world.

  3. Fairness You Can Verify: Thanks to “provably fair” algorithms, users can check that every spin, toss, or card draw was random and unaltered. This level of fairness isn’t just promised, it’s mathematically provable.

  4. Community-Controlled Ecosystems: Some platforms issue native tokens that give users a voice in how the platform is run. Token holders can propose changes, vote on features, and even share in profits, bringing a community governance element to betting.

All these advantages are very important for punters, who often face unfair treatment from bookmakers. It’s a very complicated not only to find the best arbitrabe betting sites but also reliable bookmakers.

Conclusion

As adoption of decentralized technologies continues to rise, blockchain bookmakers are gaining traction among users who value fairness, speed, and privacy. With fewer middlemen, faster payments, and open ledgers, these platforms are setting a new standard in the online betting space.

While still a niche segment, blockchain betting platforms are signaling a broader shift toward decentralized, user-empowered gambling. The days of blindly trusting a centralized bookmaker may soon be over.

A US court has ruled in favor of Meta in a copyright case brought by a group of writers who claimed the company used their books without permission to train its artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

The lawsuit was filed by 13 authors, including Sarah Silverman, Junot Díaz, and Andrew Sean Greer. They argued that Meta’s use of their books to build language models was a copyright violation.

However, Judge Vince Chhabria said in a June 25 court document that the authors did not provide enough proof that Meta’s actions harmed the market for their work. He explained that their claims lacked detail and did not demonstrate how the AI tools might reduce demand for their books or affect future sales.

Without this kind of evidence, he found the use to fall under what the law allows as “fair use”.

Still, Judge Chhabria noted that this decision should not be taken as approval of how tech companies are collecting and using copyrighted material. He stated that the ruling only applies to this specific case and should not be seen as a statement about AI training practices in general.

In his ruling, Judge Chhabria stated that AI systems can produce huge amounts of content very quickly, which could reduce the need for human-made work. If that happens, it might lower the value of creative work and discourage people from making it in the first place.

On June 23, Judge William Alsup ruled that Anthropic’s use of legally purchased books to train its artificial intelligence (AI) models was lawful. What did he say? Read the full story.

Shira Perlmutter, head of the US Copyright Office, was removed from her role by the Trump administration after releasing a report that questioned how artificial intelligence (AI) companies use copyrighted content to train their systems, according to a May 10 report by CBS News.

The Copyright Office’s newly released study warns that using protected material to make commercial products, especially if the content is accessed without permission, may fall outside the limits of fair use.

Instead of calling for immediate government action, the report suggests that the best path forward is for licensing systems to continue growing. It also mentions that if these systems fail to develop, other options like collective licensing could be considered so that rights holders are fairly paid.

Representative Joe Morelle, a Democrat on the House Administration Committee, called the firing an “unjustified power grab” and suggested it was directly linked to Perlmutter’s refusal to approve Elon Musk’s request to use large volumes of copyrighted material for AI training.

Morelle said that it was “surely no coincidence” given the events that unfolded within 24 hours of the report’s release.

Lawyer Mike Davis, who appeared to disapprove of the firing, shared a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump’s social media platform. He warned that it might lead to creators’ rights being ignored by tech companies chasing profits through AI.

Perlmutter was originally appointed by Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, who was also dismissed on May 9 by President Trump.

Meanwhile, the White House recently received more than 10,000 public comments on its proposed AI strategy. What did the feedback reveal? Read the full story.

Comment on Bitcoin and Crypto Bull Tom Lee Says Fair Value of BTC Is Far Higher Than Current Price by Billy https://earlybirdsinvest.com/comment-on-bitcoin-and-crypto-bull-tom-lee-says-fair-value-of-btc-is-far-higher-than-current-price-by-billy/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/comment-on-bitcoin-and-crypto-bull-tom-lee-says-fair-value-of-btc-is-far-higher-than-current-price-by-billy/#respond Fri, 25 Apr 2025 03:50:53 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/comment-on-bitcoin-and-crypto-bull-tom-lee-says-fair-value-of-btc-is-far-higher-than-current-price-by-billy/

Bitcoin and crypto bull Tom Lee is offering an explanation for why his predictions on the year-end price of BTC have not come to pass.

In a new note to clients, the co-founder and head of research at Fundstrat says the market has severely undervalued Bitcoin throughout the year, largely due to a “meltdown” in initial coin offerings (ICOs) and an overall downtrend in the global economy.

As reported by Bloomberg, Lee believes that the growing number of crypto wallets and the limited supply of BTC indicate the price of Bitcoin should between $13,800 and $14,800.

“Fair value is significantly higher than the current price of Bitcoin. In fact, working backwards, to solve for the current price of Bitcoin, this implies crypto wallets should fall to 17 million from 50 million currently.”

In the long run, Lee believes continued adoption of Bitcoin and its institutional adoption as an asset class will move the price of Bitcoin higher.

“If Bitcoin wallets approach just 7 percent of the Visa’s 4.5 billion account holders, fair value would be $150,000 per Bitcoin.”

Lee had initially predicted the price of Bitcoin would reach $25,000 by the end of 2018. In November, he lowered that figure to $15,000. Bitcoin is currently trading at $3,387 at time of writing, according to data compiled by CoinGecko.

Devconnect 2025 – An “Ethereum World’s Fair” in Buenos Aires https://earlybirdsinvest.com/devconnect-2025-an-ethereum-worlds-fair-in-buenos-aires/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/devconnect-2025-an-ethereum-worlds-fair-in-buenos-aires/#respond Wed, 05 Mar 2025 18:53:07 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/devconnect-2025-an-ethereum-worlds-fair-in-buenos-aires/

We’re excited to announce that the next Devconnect will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from November 17th to the 22nd, 2025!

This year, we are aiming for something bigger than just Devconnect: We want to support an effort that the local community has already started — bringing Argentina onchain.

In Buenos Aires and Argentina, we have a city and country that have been leading adopters of Ethereum for many years. Devconnect Argentina is an opportunity for the whole Ethereum ecosystem to support that steady growth and to accelerate it even further, by helping individual citizens, businesses, institutions and governments to adopt and benefit from Ethereum.

Get in touch at support@devconnect.org or on the Forum if you or your organization are interested in helping to bring Argentina onchain this year.

Devconnect will be a culmination of this effort, and a global gathering that’s more than a decentralized event week. In addition to focused community-organized events that will take place across the city, the EF events team will create an interactive “Ethereum World’s Fair” — a real showcase of live dapps, as a blueprint for what Ethereum can enable for a city, an economy, and a nation.

November 17th is the official Devconnect kickoff day. Save the date, be there, and plan your events around this big opening day!

Why Devconnect Argentina is different

Argentina is a place where Ethereum adoption is happening right now. People are using stablecoins and blockchain solutions for daily transactions and savings. Buenos Aires is already experimenting onchain: the city’s government has launched initiatives like a digital identity system with Quark ID, built on Ethereum and zksync, showing its openness to crypto.

The local ecosystem is also strong, with Argentina-founded projects like Balmy, Belo, Bouldertech, Decentraland, DeFiWonderland, ExactlyProtocol, Kleros, LambdaClass, Lemon, MakerDAO(Sky), Mimic, Nomic Foundation, OpenZeppelin, POAP, and Ripio in addition to many more. Plus, it is home to grassroots movements like Ethereum Argentina, Seed Latam, ETH Latam, Ciudad de Crecimiento and others. Argentinians are also part of many other teams across the ecosystem.

The Argentina Ethereum ecosystem has laid strong foundations already, and Devconnect is an opportunity for all of us in the Ethereum ecosystem to build on top of those foundations. Ethereum adoption is happening at scale today in Argentina, and together we can help Buenos Aires become a template for other cities to follow in the future.

Argentina has offered to help us with visa applications, so this Devconnect can be truly accessible.

The “Ethereum World’s Fair”

At the center of Devconnect Argentina will be something that we call the “Ethereum World’s Fair”. Over the last centuries, World’s Fairs around the globe showcased cutting-edge tech and offered a glimpse into the future. The “Ethereum World’s Fair” will be a live showcase of how Ethereum can transform identity, finance, governance, and day-to-day life. Stablecoins, DeFi, onchain identities, public goods funding — all of it will be at the Ethereum Fair for people to try, so you can see for yourself how Ethereum-based tools can power more accessible, transparent, and sovereign alternatives to traditional, centralized models.

A more holistic Cowork

At the main venue, you’ll find the Devconnect coworking space, which will be a more holistic experience, including Community Hubs. These interactive spaces are organized by members of the community, and you might know them from Devcon. We will share more about the Devconnect Community Hubs and how to organize one in a few weeks.

Devconnect events still decentralized

Of course, Devconnect Argentina is still Devconnect – that means multiple events organized by different teams across the city of Buenos Aires, each diving deep into specific Ethereum topics.

One of our main goals is to push real usage of Ethereum. We encourage organizers to integrate onchain ticketing, payments, and identity wherever possible. We also continue looking for opportunities to dogfood Ethereum tech to improve the attendee experience at Devconnect.

Get involved in the Argentina onchain effort

Are you a local team in Argentina, working on bringing the country onchain already, or an international team looking to contribute to the ecosystem-wide push to support the Argentinian ecosystem to bring their country onchain?
