Tether has announced it will wind down USDT on five lesser-used blockchains after usage on those networks wanes.

Redemptions and token minting on Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash’s Simple Ledger Protocol, Kusama, EOS, and Algorand are set to stop on Sept. 1, 2025. Remaining tokens are to be frozen on the same day, according to a statement.

Together, the five networks carry only a sliver of USDT’s roughly $156 billion float. Tether says the usage of USDT on these networks, which it touts as playing a role in the firm’s early growth, has declined “significantly” over the past two years.

“Sunsetting support for these legacy chains allows us to focus on platforms that offer greater scalability, developer activity, and community engagement — all key components for driving the next wave of stablecoin adoption,” Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said in the statement.

The firm will redirect its focus to Layer 2 networks such as the Lightning Network and to newer blockchains that promise faster settlement and richer developer tooling.

Tether has asked its customers holding USDT on the five networks to redeem their holdings as soon as possible or request issuance of their tokens on a supported blockchain. Token holders can migrate their tokens through blockchain bridges or exchanges.

The lion’s share of Tether’s $156 billion fiat is currently circulating on Tron and Ethereum, which together make up over 95% of the total. Solana is the only other network with more than 1% of USDT’s supply in circulation, according to RWA.xyz data.

Why Is EOS Pumping While Everything Else Crashes?  https://earlybirdsinvest.com/why-is-eos-pumping-while-everything-else-crashes/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/why-is-eos-pumping-while-everything-else-crashes/#respond Thu, 03 Apr 2025 16:18:16 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/why-is-eos-pumping-while-everything-else-crashes/ The $EOS token for the EOS blockchain is easily one of the best performing cryptocurrencies in the last seven days.

EOS is up a staggering 37.5% in the last seven days, and 47.8% over the last 30 days as it trades at $0.7939 at the time of writing.

These are particularly outsized gains when you examine the fate of virtually every other leading cryptocurrency over the last week. Market leader Bitcoin ($BTC) is down 4.3% in seven days, while its nearest runner-up, Ethereum ($ETH), shed 10.2%.

The biggest commercial layer 1 outside of Ethereum, Solana ($SOL) tumbled 14.3%, while Ripple’s cross border payments-focused $XRP shed 13.6%.

Cryptocurrencies and equities are tumbling today after the US Trump administration announced a blanket 10% tariffs on all countries, with some key rivals and allies set to be taxed even higher than that, sparking fears of a global trade war.

Why is EOS outperforming all the top cryptocurrencies this week?

EOS describes itself as an enterprise-scale blockchain that allows developers to build applications that they can’t build anywhere else. It launched in 2017, and since then, the affiliated $EOS token has risen to a market cap of $1.2 billion, making it currently the 72nd biggest cryptocurrency in the world.

In the middle of last month, EOS announced it was rebranding to Vaulta. It’s now adding Web3 banking and banking advisory services to its scope. The rebrand will take effect in May this year, and as part of it, $EOS will also get a new ticket.

On Monday, EOS/Vaulta announced the Vaulta advisory board, an announcement which is responsible for the vast bulk of EOS’s recent gains.

The news made EOS shoot from $0.60 to its current price of $0.79, adding a little over 30% to its value. Investors quickly did a spot of profit-taking overnight, because EOS’s relative strength index has cooled down to 47 from the vastly overbought 85.

Also, considering the token appears to be unbowed by Trump’s tariffs, EOS holders can rest a little easier than other crypto fans knowing that they’ve likely safely consolidated their recent gains.

While EOS Pumps, traders snap up Best Wallet tokens in multimillion-dollar presale

EOS’s price pumping, even amidst a generally bearish market, is an important sign that diversity in crypto is here to stay.

Typically, most if not all cryptocurrencies broadly track the price swings of Bitcoin. Investors’ excitement over EOS’s rebrand to Vaulta is a sign that in spite of massive global uncertainties, people are still willing to take risks and support a project if it looks like it may have a vital place in a future digital economy.

Over in the presales market right now, another project like EOS is collecting all the smart money. The ICO is for the $BEST native utility token powering leading next-gen crypto wallet Best Wallet, a rival to Trust Wallet and MetaMask.

One of the key feaures of Best Wallet is its “Upcoming Tokens” tool, which selects the most promising crypto projects, often while still at presale, enabling users to make moves before everyone else.

Additionally, it aggregates the most rewarding staking opportunities to help users generate the most value out of their portfolios.

The Best Wallet app is on Google Play and the Apple Store and currently supports over 1,000 cryptocurrencies. It leverages Fireblocks’ MPC-CMP encryption to keep users’ assets secure.

So far, early investors have poured $11.5 million into Best Wallet’s $BEST token presale, making it a clear alternative to buying cryptocurrencies like EOS.

EOS Network rebrands to Vaulta, aims to merge DeFi with traditional banking https://earlybirdsinvest.com/eos-network-rebrands-to-vaulta-aims-to-merge-defi-with-traditional-banking/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/eos-network-rebrands-to-vaulta-aims-to-merge-defi-with-traditional-banking/#respond Wed, 19 Mar 2025 06:38:42 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/eos-network-rebrands-to-vaulta-aims-to-merge-defi-with-traditional-banking/

EOS Network announced on March 18 that it will rebrand as Vaulta, marking a strategic shift toward web3 banking as it seeks to integrate decentralized technology with traditional financial systems.

The transition, which includes a token swap, is scheduled for late May 2025, pending confirmation.

The move represents years of development aimed at leveraging Bitcoin’s growing influence in global finance. Vaulta will position itself as a scalable operating system for web3 banking, offering fast transactions, blockchain connectivity, and decentralized data management.

Vaulta Foundation CEO and founder Yves La Rose said:

“This transformation represents more than just a name change; it’s a decisive step forward in our mission to deliver open, accessible financial access for everyone.”

Rebrand

As part of the rebrand, Vaulta will establish a Banking Advisory Council comprising experts from both traditional finance and blockchain sectors. The council will provide strategic guidance to bridge the gap between legacy banking and DeFi.

Members include Lawrence Truong, CEO of Systemic Trust; Didier Lavalle, CEO of Tetra; Alexander Nelson, senior director of digital finance at ATB Financial; and Jonathan Rizzo, senior business solution specialist at ATB Financial.

Nelson said:

“Vaulta’s realignment towards Web3 Banking is a significant development for the industry. This move not only opens the door for traditional funds to enter DeFi through Bitcoin but also paves the way for greater institutional acceptance.”

Vaulta will integrate with exSat, a Bitcoin digital banking solution, to reinforce Bitcoin’s role as the foundation of its decentralized financial ecosystem.

The platform’s technological infrastructure — previously developed under EOS — includes C++ smart contract architecture, a decentralized on-chain RAM database, and multi-chain interoperability features.

The firm has also announced strategic partnerships with Ceffu, Spirit Blockchain, and Blockchain Insurance Inc.

Vaulta aims to develop four core areas in web3 banking: Wealth Management, Consumer Payments, Portfolio Management, and Insurance. These pillars will enable new financial applications such as blockchain-native yield generation, real-world asset (RWA) investments, and customized insurance solutions.

Additional partnerships are expected in the coming months. The token ticker and swap portal launch remains set for late May, subject to further updates.

EOS Rebrands to Vaulta as it Shifts Focus to Web3 Banking https://earlybirdsinvest.com/eos-rebrands-to-vaulta-as-it-shifts-focus-to-web3-banking/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/eos-rebrands-to-vaulta-as-it-shifts-focus-to-web3-banking/#respond Tue, 18 Mar 2025 19:51:01 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/eos-rebrands-to-vaulta-as-it-shifts-focus-to-web3-banking/

EOS Network, known for its scalable blockchain infrastructure, is rebranding to Vaulta as it pivots toward Web3 banking. The transition comes with a token swap that is provisionally scheduled for the end of May.

It also comes with the launch of the Vaulta Banking Advisory Council, a group of financial and blockchain industry experts focused on bridging the gap between traditional banking and decentralized systems. Members include executives from Systemic Trust, Tetra, and ATB Financial, according to a press release shared with CoinDesk.

“Vaulta’s strategic realignment towards Web3 banking is a significant development for the industry,” said Alexander Nelson, senior director of digital finance at ATB Financial. “This move not only opens the door for traditional funds to enter decentralized finance through Bitcoin but also paves the way for greater institutional acceptance.”

Vaulta plans to maintain its technical infrastructure from the EOS Network, including its smart contract architecture, decentralized database, and inter-blockchain connectivity. The platform will integrate with exSat, a Bitcoin-focused digital banking solution, as part of its Web3 banking initiative.

The project, per the release, is set to leverage various partnerships to expand its Web3 banking ecosystem, including with Ceffu, Spirit Blockchain, and Blockchain Insurance. The firm is expected to announce further strategic partnerships in the coming months.

“This transformation represents more than just a name change; it’s a decisive step forward in our mission to deliver open, accessible financial access for everyone. Vaulta is the product of years of planning, strategic development, and thoughtful design, culminating in a holistic Web3 banking approach,” said Yves La Rose, founder and CEO of Vaulta Foundation.

The team described Vaulta’s approach to Web3 banking as two-pronged, offering blockchain-based services tailored for banks and neobanks, and offering a broader financial ecosystem featuring exSat’s Bitcoin banking solutions, blockchain insurance, tokenized real-world assets, and more.

Its network has maintained uninterrupted operation for nearly seven years, emphasizing stability as a key factor in its approach, he added. Advancements in the network’s speed, security and interoperability mean the network is “now positioned for mainstream adoption.”

The rebrand comes as regulatory frameworks for digital assets, including the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA), become more defined. La Rose said these developments make it the “right moment” to align Vaulta’s brand with its focus on Web3 banking.
